(Update) Considering the nonsense between Redneck Rick and Mormonromney, Pawlenty's dropping out might be more of a story than people realize. . .I think Pawlenty is punting 2012 thinking the present GOP incarnation is a little batshit crazy and he's mining for a 2016 post-Obama push. But it's by default more than anything else - Gingrich, Huckabee, and other nutbags are jokes. Pawlenty dropped out of the GOP race. The Iowa voters didn't like him so much because he lacks "that charisma", that matters for some reason. Smart guy who would have made a far better president than the bum in office now.

I wasn't following the Republican candidates but I read that he dropped out after the Iowa straw poll. It doesn't seem like he was up to the challenge and expected things to drop into his lap. I would think any other serious candidate would have doubled their efforts to try to improve their numbers after a setback.

Nice guy....but no excitement. Kind of reminds me of a junior Mitt.....although I hear Tim does not pander as much as Mitt. Still this guy could never draw the independents to beat Obama.

Just another Regan clone to me. The "no new taxes" thing never has worked. The problem is that they never say anything about what they are going to do about the "old taxes", which usually increase to pay for the budget short fall. For example, since Pawlenty became governor, local property taxes in Minnesota have increased by $3 billion and fees have doubled. Most noteably, local tax rates have increased for 90 percent of state residents, but tax rates "decreased" for those earning more than $130,000. Looks like the same old right wing rethoric of stealing from the poor and giving to the wealthy while disguising the truth.

He's got midwest charm and the backing of a state that is brutal on it's anything but liberal politicians. Pawlenty has the political traction to win big in Iowa, and also appeal to moderates in New Hampshire. South Carolina would be his only hurdle, and barring an upsurgence in a southern cantidate ala Mike Huckabee, he has the best shot to win the nomination and ultimately defeat Obama in 2012.

With Tim Pawlenty as President and Al Franken as Senate Majority Leader Minnesota will finally wield the power to run the nation that it has long deserved. A Polaris Snowmobile in every snow covered driveway!

Another candidate with a chance at winning the nomination. The one thing Pawlenty has going for him that John Thune and the other Senators running don't have is that he's served in an executive capacity in government, and he comes from a Democratic-leaning state. That shows that he can win in areas that aren't always favorable to Republicans. He's rising quick on the radars of a lot of national activists, and my bet is that if he doesn't win the nomination, he will get the VP nod. He should have gotten the vice presidential nomination last year, but McCain made a dumb decision by going with Palin. He will likely finish in the top three.

I live in MN where he is a governor and he sucks at his job. things are being cut so much that ther is a huge number of people at one bus stop. my daughter has asthma and can't walk that far without her asthma acting up. I am so angry! Her stop use to be right infront of the house now it is a couple blocks away. She is already having issues with it and it isn't even winter yet! Her class sizes are huge... there are 40 some kids in her classes! Her teachers can't help that many kids at one time. He is the George Bush of government! I will not vote for this ass. Tim Pawlenty Is a jackass! I would have to have a gun to my head for me to vote for such an ass.

Would be my second choice behind Ron Paul. Educated but not someone to solve our current and future economic problems.

Honestly, I don't see him winning the nomination. He's sort of bland and boring.

Pawlenty will no doubt gain traction for a run, but he would be McCain all over. Perhaps he would be even worse because he could not campaign as hard on experience.

He was actually pretty funny in the bit that did with Triumph the Insult Comic Dog at the Republican Convention. I'd give him a shot.

Whom everybody expected McCain to choose as VP. Boring as dishwater, and too moderate for the GOP as it stands.
