They're calling him the "new maverick" in Republican circles. I'm guessing it has to do with Graham's support of carbon credits, bailouts for Wall Street, moderation on some social issues, and his general disapproval of the Tea Party group. Although politically, this might put him in a perilous position in conservative South Carolina, he's not running for re-election this year and won't have to face the voters again until 2014. He's probably thinking that this will blow over by then, but you never know. Activists have a long memory.

Another republican hypocrite. However, I gave him one more star because he's been leaning towards the moderate side of the issues and he's pissing off the GOP bastards! On another note, if he did run, he'd probably have the gay demographic locked.

Wonderful candidate, he could easily win across the south, midwest, but can he carry place like Ohio? Pennsylvania?

A genuine centrist is exactly what the GOP needs if it has any hope of taking on Obama in 2012 and winning over large numbers of independents. His record in the Senate of Genuine Bipartisanship could be contrasted with the failure of Obama to live up his rhetoric of the 2008 campaign as he has instead become the most devisive President in modern US history.

Grahamalso has great credibility when it comes to foreign policy and national security, which may be a crucial campaign issue in 2012 as Obama appears to be inviting a foreign policy catastrophe with many of his policies.

Can he win the nomination? Of course he can, the New Hampshire electorate has a track record of voting for indpendently minded polticians (see McCain 2000 and 2008) and the numbers of independent voters voting in the GOP race in 2012 will be unusually high due to the lack of a competitive democratic primary. After the tradition first primary in New Hampsire which he could win, he would then go to his home state of South Carolina with a real chance of building up the momentum to take the nomination.

He probably won't run, but IMO he has far more integrity and intelectual capability any of the other candidates.
