Garfield, Garfield, Garfield... I cannot deny that Jim Davis is a very talented man. But this strip has been on autopilot for some time now.

Once one of my favorites. Was wildly funny and the Garfield and Friends Tv cartoon was often just as brilliant. Now, it's a sad shell. The cat is no longer funny.

This cat has been asleep for years. It's so bad that that if English woman who is getting pilloried for putting a real cat in a garbage can recently had tossed Garfield in the bin, people would be organizing a parade in her honor.

A very cute character that was also a favorite of my late mom. My son, age 8, likes Garfield too and sometimes draws pictures of him. The first "Garfield" more-or-less-live-action movie was cute (haven't seen the newest one), but I like "Garfield" better as a cartoon.

Funnier when I was young. What I want to know is: why does Garfield hate Mondays? He's a cat! Its not like he has a job to go to.

Sometimes wildly funny, particularly in its early years, but the schtick grew stale a long time ago.

This is one that used to be pretty good, but Jim Davis ran out of original and funny ideas a while back.

One of the best and most brilliant of comic strips. Inspired the incredibly awesome "Garfield & Friends" CBS Storybook morning television show that ran from 1987 to 1995, 12 television specials, and much more. The strips are witty, well-drawn, have their own unique style and always consistently enjoyable. My favorites include the Christmas ones, which remind me of myself (for example one December 26th--"Only 364 days until Christmas!" ^_^), and any of the ones that break the fourth wall or satirize pop culture.

Before ever looking into the Sunday comic strips, I discovered this well-known cat during the morning hours of CBS Saturday programming. Shortly after I began viewing the show almost regularly, I made yet another important discovery on the next day (Sunday). Just a couple or so pages from Peanuts was the one and only Garfield (excluding his other Friends, the U.S. Acres crew) on top of the page. As the years continued rather quick, long after the TV series ended, Garfield continued to amuse me, whether it was from looking at the pictures or reading his thoughts. As the humor section of my mind reached its highest point, the smiles would upgrade to good chuckles. This happened to be during a time when most Garfield readers noticed a supposed lack of new content in the strip. If you understand the daily lives of freelance cartoonist Jon Arbuckle, pets Garfield, and Odie very well after all these years, there shouldn't be any reason for even the most loyal reader to give up on it. Like ev... Read more

Pretty much a one-joke strip, I'm not surprised to see it ranked below so many newer, less well-known comics. Garfield is one of the biggest sell-outs in the history of history.

Terrible, never fun, and it's almost always a joke about a bird, or some other animal that cats like to eat. It's just terrible.

Awful just awful. Bland like lukewarm oatmeal. I've identified nine jokes in the entire strip: Garfield hates Odie, Nermal, spiders, Feb, and Monday John can't get a date, getting old is not fun; John's family are hicks. Pretty thin comic gruel there and try repeating them for twenty odd years. Not even funny in that unintentional way that the Family Circus is. Bar none the worst comic on the page.

Awful beyond words. On autopilot for years now. I couldn't help but laugh when I saw him described on some site (can't remember where) as an orange merchandising turd!!! For those who love good strips, here is a measure of revenge: http://www.badmouth.net/archives/000006.php

I have always loved reading Garfield. I still have a small Garfield stuffed animal toy that I received as a kid. I used to love reading the books full of Garfield comic strips. Always fun and full of laughs. Odie is really fun, too !

Garfield is very cute, and I'll always like Garfield, but yeah, the strip is getting really repetitive and old. But, to be fair, it's been about fifteen years, I'm not expecting anything too fresh and new to come out from the comic. I'll be really sad when it happens, but I think it's about time to retire Garfield in all his lazy glory.

I love that style of drawing, and it's very funny sometimes. Of course, it doesn't hurt that Garfield and I have the same birthday.

I am sorry. I have failed Jim. But considering how positively LAME the strips are now, they make me ssick. It used to be mad funny, but they don't use Odie anymore(they meaning Jim's computers). Just repeated gags. I have seen Jim's rejected strips(sometimes they are not offensive or tasteless at all!) and they are SOOOOO funny, they made me wanna cry. Give up those jerks, Jim or give it up. You are already a billionare, Jim and your strip sucks now.

ENOUGH-!! Never funny. Irritating. Xerox art. Appeals to drones who occupy dark cubicles at work and eat limp salads from Tupperware, then drive their Cavaliers home and watch their tapes of General Hospital. KILL this strip and give someone else a shot.

The strip ran out of ideas long ago. It's deteriorated from being a fairly funny comic strip to what it is now, merely a Garfield industry. Garfield bedspreads - kids' lunch boxes and other merchandise ad nauseum. Cartoonists *should* benefit from their creations, but only if they merit it. Garfield doesn't; it's running on air.

I really don't see why it should be so popular in strip form -- the repetitions are horrendous. An occasional "nice touch" keeps this above the bottom rung.

I loved it when I was 11, and I'm thinking that must be its target age group. Print it on the MiniPage and make way for something good in the comics, please.

Garfield is another comic strip that has not aged very well. The earlier strips are hysterical, but it has grown very stale in recent years. It's the same jokes over and over again. It's just not funny to me anymore. I love reading the books with the classic Garfield strips.

I love Garfield Odie and John. I grew up enjoying this cartoon and I really miss the holiday specials they used to put on television, I haven't seen them in a while. If anyone is really a Garfield finatic there is a cool web site my guy found for me (garfield.com) full of comics and games. You can even buy neat merchandise.

It's really too bad. This was a dynamite comic when it came out in 1980, but it has long since seen its day. There are no jokes in this one joke comic any more. Davis should really pack it up and call it a day.

It's hard to say this 'cause i used to love this strip so much.... but now it's not half as good as it used to be. Now it's just the same old punchlines over and over Maybe Jim Davis just ran out of ideas???
