A very family friendly dog that seldom exhibits aggression towards strangers. However, they are cautious until a family member conducts an introduction. They are very intelligent, love to play, make good watchdogs, and can be easy to train. Although they require some grooming, they have minimal shed, and occasional trimming will maintain a sharp looking coat. Although they are playfull animals, care should be taken around small children. In addition, obedience training would be recommended because they may exhibit a hunting drive and attack smaller dogs and other animals.

Schnauzers are genarally good dogs, the don't shed, they are good listiners and learners, plus they are loving! Our old schnauzer got too overprotective and both her and my grandmas had a bad barking problem, and they didn't like to be lifted up, which i have heard other people complain about. Their haircuts were a bit pricey because they needed the "schnauzer cut" which costed a few extra dollars, but they are a unique breed which when trained well, will love you for life.

(mini) Schnauzers are the complete dog.   They make GREAT watch dogs (yet only get up to about 12-15 lbs),  are VERY intelligent/easy to train, VERY loyal to their owner and family members, they live long lives many living 12-15  (human) yrs.  Best of all they dont shed hair all over the place!  I LOVE these lil dogs.  They r very smart.

Very smelly and I don't like how noisy they can be. Not by any means my favorite!

I have had many mini schnauzers and a standard schnauzer. They are the best dogs- gorgeous, alert, very smart, loyal, loving, energetic and a dog you can do everything with! I have shown them in obedience and agility, they LOVE to go hiking and on the boat, and they love to play with big dogs. As any very intelligent dog, they need training to know that you are alpha and not this smart little (or not so little as in the stds case) whiskered dog. The mini's can be barky without training but I have found that a little training goes very far with this very intelligent and easy to train breed. My mini Liesl is now almost 15 and she is still active- hiking and playing with the std and my dobie. This breed is the most regal and loving companion you could wish for!!

I dont really know much about Standard and giant schnauzers but i love mini schnauzers! they're gorgeous! my grandad used to have one, he barked alot when you first came in but after that he was relaxed and friendly. Very loyal dogs, affectionate and energetic. Really cute and fluffy when they are pups! One of my fave breeds!

Miniature Schnauzers are great companions. Their playful and enjoy watching what you do and follow you around everywhere. They are also very loyal. Mine has a tendancy to bark a lot, however, and can be somewhat aggresive with visitors but that might be because she's still in her adolcense stage. Wonderful family members, you can look at mine by clicking on my username.

depends on what shnauzer you talk about. i find the giant ones ok, but they still look dirty and uglier than other dogs, plus they tend to become fat too quickly. if you want a guard dog, this is not the best either

We have had two miniature schnauzers. Both were loving and fun. The first was intelligent and cuddly. The second was beautiful and proud. Niece of the top show dog in the country, we agreed that she was bred for looks not for brains. For those with allergies, I hear that schnauzers are one of the few dogs that shed very little.

Schnauzers are wonderful, well-tempered and energetic dogs. They tend to be very affectionate as well. Their only downside is that they are somewhat high-maintenance dogs. They need regular brushing and grooming and are prone to getting skin rashes.

I have a schnauzer and they are great!!! They are adorable, loyal, and very smart. If you want a dog and you are thinking about getting a schnauzer it would be a good idea to look into.
