I really don't think he is as good as he is hyped up to be

Billy Bob got me hit in the head with a stick one time. You see, I had a sergeant that looked too much like Carl from Sling Blade and being the jackass I am I did my best Carl impression around him all the time since calling him Carl would have been insubordination. He brained me from behind and I told him I'd kick his ass. Oh yeah, Billy Bob ain't half bad as an actor...

First of all how can you not like Billy Bob. He wrote, directed, and starred in one of the most successful films of all time: Sling Blade. After this incredible performance I realized he was the best actor I had ever seen. Personally I see him as the most talented actor around today. Another thing I like about him is he doesn't crave publicity like all of the other actors you hear about and sees acting as not just a job but an art form.
Djahuti 12/12/2005
For his work in Slingblade alone, this man is a real Heavyweight.
peterbucksfan2 08/14/2005
The lowest of the of all the actors in Hollywood and does not pick good acting parts..
Leesburg 05/02/2005
Sling Blade alone makes him one of the best. Throw in a Simple Plan and Bad Santa, and you have a trend going.

Never fails to deliver.

I'm giving him a 5 for his performance in Slingblade alone. Incredible!! He is an all-round great actor, but that particular performance knocked my socks off!

Although I wasn't impressed w/ the movie Sling Blade, I was impressed w/ ability to act in it. He played a great character in it and he directed the film. I can't imagine the stress that he went through. Lets face it, he is a good actor and what happens behind the scenes or in his personal life, is his own. I truly believe that when you are a celebrity you have no life of your own, but that doesn't mean that I agree w/ it.

A talented actor, Billy Bob Thornton deserved the Best Actor Academy Award in 1996 for Sling Blade.
Redoedo 05/07/2003
Billy Bob Thornton has his own unique style which makes him an above average actor. His characters are very believable- espescially with his performance in "Sling Blade". I've never been disappointed with a performance that Thornton has given. He was excellent in "Armageddon", "Primary Colors", "A Simple Plan" and "Pushing Tin". And this year he'll be playing Davy Crockett in the film "The Alamo"- I can't wait to see that. In the final analysis- Billy Bob Thornton is a very gifted actor but he's not one of the best.
KevanSF 06/26/2002
C'mon! This man is a good actor. I'd recommend Bandits and Monster's Ball and Pushing Tin if you'd like to see Thornton's abilities.

I think Billy Bob Thornton is one of the best character actors around (Steve Buscemi is another favorite). I think that you can bank on any movie that either one of these two is in. My particular favorites of Billy Bob Thornton are "Man Who Wasn't There", "Monsters Ball", and "A Simple Plan". He is definitely an actor from the "old school" of acting. Not too hip about his personal life. Married 5 times (Angelina Jolie, who I'm not too impressed with as far as acting is concerned, is his 5th wife). Didn't do right by Laura Dern, either. Oh, well their private life is private.
Snoopy 04/04/2002
He just scares me for some reason. He's not as creepy as his wife though.
billybobsgal 07/12/2001
I can't get enough of this man! Not only is he talented, but he is INCREDIBLE!! True, he is not your typical "leading man" type, but there is something about this man that is just completely, uncontrolably sexy!! I can't get enough!!!

FOR THOSE WHO BELIEVE BB THORNTON IS TOO SKINNY - WHATS THAT HAVE TO DO W/ TALENT/ PERHAPS THE GUY IS JUST TOO BUSY.... ANOTHER THING...WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG W/ HAVING A YOUNGER BRIDE? AT 35 MY BOYFRIEND IS 58 BIG DEAL. LOVE HAS NO AGE LIMITS. BY THE WAY...BILLY BOB IS EXTREMELY TALENTED. IF YOU HAVENT CAUGHT HIS APPEARANCE ON BRAVO CHANNEL PLEASE DO. YOU WILL BE GLAD YOU DID.

I work for the airlines and Billybob was on our flight... What a GREAT GUY!! He was so gracious, polite, and charming and he could not have been nicer. We had a great time making fun of "Pushing Tin", and he laughed with us and offered to send pics from the movie. He is DEFINATELY MISUNDERSTOOD in Hollywood. GREAT GUY!

Billy Bob Thornton is one of those rare individuals who can not only turn in dynamite performances as a co-star (Tombstone) and as a star (Slingblade), but can also show considerable talent behind the camera. For those who may have missed his outstanding recent film, All the Pretty Horses, I encourage all of you to see it on video.Don't miss the soundtrack either -- it's some of the finest contemporary Western music done in years! Mr. Thornton said recently that he prefers acting to directing because he's afraid of letting alot of people down if the films he directs don't do well at the box office. While I empathize with his sentiments, I don't support him avoiding the director's chair. Mr. Thornton should keep using his talents and holding firm to his cinematic vision. If he does so both his audiences and his industry colleagues will greatly benefit, especially from films like All the Pretty Horses.

U HAVE ALL MY SUPPORT.....MARIA IN SOUTH CAROLINA
Sunnykitty1 03/16/2001
As an actor myself, I view Thornton as a 5 star actor. Compare his performance in Slingblade and Armageddon. these charaacters that he is portraying are complete opposites, and yet he can make you believe so many things about them when he himself is just an actor.
gun4hyr 03/02/2001
What a bum. We invited him as a tribute/award recipient at a pretty renowned film festival (11 yrs old now). He agreed and was honored to come. The DAY he was supposed come and speak in a hotel ballroom; in front of 700 ticket buying film fans... he canceled, with no excuse, other than to say he was humiliated. He should be! Wazzup, too many beers Bobby!? You woke up late???
KueneB 02/03/2001
Absolutely loved him until he puked his way to skinny and purchased himself a child trophy bride/toy. We'll see how fast the little tart skips out when he's not on top anymore. Just like Woody Allen, this guy is clearly demonstrating that if he could screw children and get away with it, he would. Why do we tolerate the presence of these perverted creeps, much less praise them?
denvercarlos 01/23/2001
WHY IS HE SO THIN LATELY?
Magic 01/02/2001
Real, honest, human....refreshing. Is what he is. Doesn't apologize or try to be different. Awesome person.
seenitall 12/19/2000
He is talented, no doubt. However, he seems like he may have a substance abuse problem.. anyone else recognize the telltale signs?
init9859om 08/17/2000
talented on the highest level possible.
tblu6114om 04/20/2000
one hell of an actor!

If we wanted as much irrelevant and boring commentary during our evening movie as this brainless dope doles out on cable, we would listen to Rush Limbaugh. Go find someone else to annoy.
