I loved Ghostbusters. That might be the last movie he made that I did care for.

I'm probably going against conventional wisdom, but i think Bill Murray is common, crude, overrated, and bordering on the mediocre. I would not willingly watch any of his movies - the few that I did endure were quite enough.

I'm with Frank on this one. I loved him in Stripes, I loved him in Rushmore, and I loved him in Lost in Translation - and none of those roles were anything like each other. I even liked him in Groundhog Day as the selfish guy who finally starts to grow up a little bit. He's shown some range.

It's the late 70's and you learn that Bill Murray is going to follow in Chevy Chase's (and Steve Martin's) footsteps and start into a feature film career. Who do you put your money on for a long and fruitful career with lots of interesting and varied roles and critical respect? Be honest. Besides great comic gifts, Bill Murray has astounded film goers with a range of phenominal choices in roles like Rushmore, Cofee and Cigarettes, Ed Wood, Lost in Translation and Broken Flowers that complement his fine but overlooked starring vehicles like Quick Change, What About Bob and the Man Who Knew Too Little.

I don't dislike him as either an actor or a comedian, but I think he's been over-rated, as so many of the SNL alumni have been. In fairness, I've only seen one of his so-called "straight" movies-- "Lost In Translation". It was an interesting film, and he gave a credible enough performance, but nothing extraordinary, in my opinion. Russell Crowe has no reason to lose any sleep.

He really should have won the Academy Award for Lost in Translation. He's been a great actor from his beginning back when Saturday Night Live was great. He's been typecast for comedy, but he does very well with dramatic parts as well.

Murray was hilarious in almost everything he was in. One of the funniest people I've ever seen on screen.

He was in some funny movies, but I don't think that he is very funny.

My favorite comedic actor ever.

Love him! someone said they never heard of him!!!!! Well who ever said that must not get out much. I loved him in Groundhog day. I saw another movie with him in it, but i can't think of the name. In it he plays a crazy guy, who follows his psychologist everywhere.

Djahuti 11/17/2004
One of the great comic actors of our time:a master of deadpan humor!
TheDesertFox 07/10/2004
One of the great comedic actors of our time, the only actor I like more than him, at least in a comedy, is Steve Martin.

GROUNDHOG DAY is so good you'll want to watch it over and over again - Bill Murray is nothing short of Brilliant!

In my personal opinion Bill is a genius plain and simple. I love all of his movies and his days on SNL were awesome as well. I will always be a huge fan of his no matter what anybody else says about him.

Whatever brain cells he ever had were fried a long time ago.

Bill Murray is a very talented comedian, but in my opinion, he is only an average actor. He's a very likable guy, but even his presence cannot make up for some of the bombs that he has produced in his career. "Ghostbusters" is a prime example- the film was good, but it hardly takes excellent acting skills to make such a movie. I'd like to see him take on more roles like the one he played in "Wild Things" as the crooked lawyer. He'll fare much better when I rate him as an SNL castmember.

I've been a big fan since Saturday Night Live...I've seen all his films, including "The Razor's Edge"...this guy is the reason i keep watching films like "Ghostbuster", "Meatballs", "Caddyshack","Groundhog Day....etc. etc. etc. He truly is a treasure of the silver screen.

Bill Murray emerged on SNL as a shining ray of comic genius. In addition to the many hours of laughter and joy he provided us with in his many feature films he has had the courage to walk another route. Taking chances with dramatic roles and having successful results. He is an enigma. Favorites Roles: John Winger in Stripes, Frank in Mad Dog & Glory, Tommy Crickshaw in Cradle Will Rock. Love that Bill!

Bill is ...without doubt...THE HOLY GRAIL OF MEN! Not only is he a BRILLIANT actor, but just so VERY BEAUTIFUL!!!
pedrogouveia 07/23/2001
He may not be the funniest man alive, but he is probably the most clever comedian ever born. His type of humour is just completely different from all other. He is a true genius. I loved his work on Quick Change. Just watch that, and you'll know what I mean...

A wise man once said that a man should do one thing and do it well; Mr. Murray is such a man. Concentrating his career on comedy was the best decision he made. His varying comedic roles leaves my chest aching from laughter paines. May he always bring a smile to our lips...

All I have to do is think of him, and I laugh.

Bill Muarry wins the award for the messiest career for an actor. He wasn't good on Saturday Night Live, but he was good in Caddyshack, as I've heard. He was bad in Groundhog Day, but good in Scrooged.....well he did ok in scrooged. He was one strange actor.

One of the funniest, sexiest men in the biz.
daf62757 02/27/2001
Has only had one classic (groundhog day) and the rest are SNL gag movies. Needs to get a sitcom and prove he can act.
Nyagtha 01/04/2001
Bill Murray is the last funny man left in the film industry who isn't going all sentimental in their old age - Robin Williams, Steve Martin. Lets hope Bill carries on as he is for a lot longer.
