I liked her in "Heathers" where she played a vacuous high school diva. Then I saw all of her movies after - and she played a vacuous high school diva in them too, despite the roles being something else entirely.

I saw her in Little Women, and I liked her protrayal of Jo, but I havn't seen anything recent of hers to know if she's still good or not.

Winona Ryder virtually singlehandedly made being a young, beautiful and talented woman marketable in popular film, creating important roles beyond the ingenue cliche. Now that she is set to return with A Scanner Darkly and The Darwin Awards, people will have the chance to fall in love with her all over again.

She's a very good actress, really underrated. True she's been in a couple of really average flicks but she graced the screen on a few classics and cult movies too. One of the most attractive faces in Hollywood, I just love her big brown expressive eyes. As a public figure, well, it seems people are really shallow and like to bear a grudge or make mountains out of molehills, when she hardly hurt anyone. She's always stood to defend the abused or those who are discriminated against and has often given a lot of her time and money to charities and noble causes. I also admire her for that continuous record of humanity and dedication. I wish she made new films soon.

Think what you will, personally, but she has the talent to be the best in the business. Only her troubled mind can stop her. She has beauty and talent. I loved her in everything she has done with the exception of the Aliens film. That was hard to watch. I don't think anyone could have saved that crap.

Do any of the fellas out there get the feeling that underneath all that clothing lies the greatest rack in Hollywood history? My perversion aside, she is a great talent, and makes great decisions- throat clear, uh-um, besides Mr. Deeds'. A bad Winona Ryder movie is rare indeed. And 'Dracula' is one of the most underrated movies of all time in my opinion.

Has a TERRIBLE British accent. I cringe every time she uses it and I can't understand why she had so many film offers which asked her to do it. Although, much worse than that is her irritating vally-girl accent which she uses in every other damn movie. Her acting is medicore mostly but she does shine sometimes, albiet, very rarely. She has a beautifully refined face (when she doesn't open her mouth to speak) but her body is something yet to be desired; she needs to maintain some curves. If she was ever any good before, she's certainly become a wash-out now.

Winona is an actress that changes my opinion frequently. Sometimes she impresses me and sometimes she just falls flat. For instance, her performance in Girl Interrupted was terrific, raw and realistic. Whereas her performance in Bram Stoker's Dracula was flighty, breathy and had the acting weight of tissue paper. She's proved she has the talent but can't get out of being inconsistent.

I've always enjoyed watching Winona onscreen whether I've loved or hated the movie. I loved Winona in Mermaids, I loved her in Little Women, and I really loved her in Girl Interrupted. She is one of the only actresses who can do scenes that move me to tears.

I have never seen Winona Ryder do a terrible job at acting. I have always thought she was very talented. I would say my favorite movie of hers was HEATHERS co-starring Christian Slater in the 80's. Really good cult hit. The only movie I can think of right now that I could not stand that she starred in was REALITY BITES. I hated the movie, but I tolerated it only because of her. I honestly don't think the movie would have made it to theatres without her.(and of course the great Janeane Garefalo She can definately make a dull movie into something more fun.)

It's odd reading the comments on Winona, some people are so shallow - I can only assume that you think TV is real and these people don't try anything to keep their publicity going. I believe Wynona's talents as an actress are highly understated. Sure, she got herself in a bit of trouble there but most people do things at one point or another and regret them. Wynona is an incredibly y woman but she manages to pull it off with class and she has a certain adorable factor to her.

Winona has done some decent acting in some of her roles. I liked her in Girl Interrupted, Little Woman etc. She was a good child actor and is good as an adult. I hope to see her in other movies. I would not think it fair to judge her acting by some past mistakes she has made in her personal life.

She is an actress of some depth and versatility, but her choice of roles in the past few years has been questionable. Maybe she's not getting the good parts because she won't get naked. But given the fact that her conviction for indulging in Five Finger Discounts may cause the plum offers to dry up even moreso, we may be seeing her real soon. I'm giving her a three-star rating just because I think it would be fun to slip her some cocktails and goofballs so that she'd drop the stuck-up charade and unveil those slightly oversized jewish funbags.

Winona is often a good actress, and usually seems to choose good roles. It would be nice to see her playing something where she showed a lot of cleavage and profiles in tight sweaters. Then one could look past the shallowness that often comes out in her performances.
