If you do it even once, you open a political football that will be a huge distarction to many other more relevant issues that need to be addressed. It will become a cultural/racial/political issue that this country does not need.

 | AndreK (0) 09/30/2005 | There was no greater president in terms of changes made nd advances for teh U.S. made in the world in the first part of teh last century than Theodore Roosevelt. The United States was put on the road to becoming a World Leader and Power in his hands. (The World Wars and leadership by his cousin Franklin would continue this trend.) TR was after Lincoln probably the most important president this nation has had and he needs to be recognized as such. Perhaps on a new $500.00 or $1000.00 bill if not an existing denomination.

 | pabob (2) 06/22/2005 | A great American, but like Reagan, Madison, Wilson, and Truman, who gets replaced? A huge political and social argument would develop between many special interest groups advocating the person of their choice. It would be nasty and not good for this country. Leave the coin and paper currency images alone!

Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Abigail Adams, Harriet Tubman, Martin Luther King Jr., Elenor Roosevelt, Helen Keller, I could think of many, many people who I admire a lot more than Teddy Roosevelt.

 | jgls (13) 09/29/2004 | i'm not exactly sure which bill or coin i would put him on, but he is at the top of my list of presidents who should be honored in this manner. it would be sacrilige to remove washington, lincoln, jackson, fdr, or jefferson, so i am thinking that the best bet is to put him on a one dollar coin.
