My only problem with SLJ is that he'll appear in ANY movie. He's great. But it'd be more of a treat if he was a little more selective in his roles.

I really like him but the majority of his better work is in action films. Loved his very short stint in "Coming to America". Great actor but cant give him five stars with the more rounded guys on this list.

He doesn't have to be talented. He makes every movie he's in.
Don't believe me? Do you think anyone would have cared about "Snakes on a Plane- starring Sylvester Stallone"?

I'd say he's a great actor who has a knack for ending up in bad movies. I just can't give the five no matter how badass Mace Windu and Jules were thanks to those MFing snakes on that Mfing plane...

From one of of the spectrum to another, he plays great characters so long as he can retain the "bad boy" image. Whether he's playing a good guy or a bad guy, he's completely wrapped up in his work, making him that much more captivating to watch.

I think his performance on Pulp Fiction establishes very easily as one of the best actors of the twentieth century. None of his other performances have matched up to that.

He's a decent actor, but i'd like to see him play something besides the angry black man. like he did in star-wars. (how the heck he got picked to be a jedi master, i'll never know) but it was nice to see him shake off the tough black guy role for a movie. i'd like to see him in a more serious, down-to-earth role. and as many movies as he does, maybe i'll get that soon.

Is there a movie this guy WONT do? Samuel L. Jackson is good for several movies a year. He's always working and , to his credit, he's not bad. Still doing too much work will oversaturate you to the public. Jackson can act and will turn in a good performance in a good movie ( or a bad one), but he works too much but so far it hasnt caught up to him.

I like him but am surprised at the amount of success he's had. I don't know if it's because of changing attitudes or bad judgement. His on camera 'cool' personna has a lot to do with it I think. Favorite line: She white though to Robert Deniro about his girlfriend (Bridget Fonda) in Jackie Brown.

His best work was in A TIME TO KILL. He works a lot because he's good at what he does. If the movie-makers keep offering him parts, he should take them wherever/whenever possible. He's blessed to be able to find work in a job that he loves.

Really dug his work, until I saw him on a few too many sports talk show, where he felt comfortable enough to let his guard down, and a self righteous racist came shining through. Tired of Hollywood's use of him as the classic Tough Black man Of course that whole stereotype is as overplayed as Britanny Spears. It was fresh and funny in Pulp Fiction, but by the time we got to Shaft, it was stale and 95 percent of the roles he is suited for had been played out. Next!

Samuel L. Jackson is probably one of the more underrated actors in Hollywood today, but this stems mostly from the fact that he is not very judicious in choosing the films that he plays in. We often see him playing a secondary character in films when he would be much better suited playing the lead role. Despite this, however, Samuel L. Jackson is a good actor with a deep love and passion for his work. Probably his most famous role was as the religious hitman Jules Winnfield in Pulp Fiction. His best role, however, has to be his performance as the troubled inner-city high school teacher in the crime drama One Eight Seven. Jackson's performance was incredibly intense, and he didn't skip a beat. Jackson was also the perfect choice for the role of Shaft in the 2000 remake. As I wrote earlier, however, Jackson's greatest failure is his inability to judiciously choose the roles that he plays. The Negotiator is a good example of this. Although Jackson did a decent job, it was Kevin Spacy that stole the show. Die Hard: With a Vengeance is another example of this. Despite this, one cannot deny that when he commits himself, Jackson can certainly act. He's not in the same league as Denzel Washington or Morgan Freeman, but he certainly is talented.

I like Samuel L. Jackson, but he seems to be in too many films. He can carry a film as a leading man, however I think he would be wise to be more discriminating about the roles he takes. Too often he is cast in roles which attempt to recapture the gritty, thoughtful character he played in "Pulp Fiction", but the audience is not stupid enough to fall for such obvious manipulation. I'd love to see him make more films for the film's sake, and not for the sake of movie "fans" or the box office. Denzel Washington and Harrison Ford are fine examples of putting quality FIRST and box office second, and Jackson would do well to follow that example.

The Afro-American version of Al Pacino. Overacts in every crappy film he appears in, and nearly every film he's been in has been crap. As he is a noteable scenery-chewer and has the worst judgment when it comes to selecting roles, he and that sawed-off little dwarf wopinouchi are true soulmates.

I try to see every movie that Samuel L. Jackson is in. I am never disappointed in his performance. He cannot get along on his looks alone, so he is very convincing in the roles he plays. He is very hardworking and professional. He choses his roles well and is only in top quality pictures. He has so much range as an actor he can go from the Die Hard With A Vengeance style of picture to dramas like Fresh, The Red Violin or The Negotiator. One of the best actor/movie stars out there. Still I think this man is one of the most underrated actors in the entire moviemaking industry.

Mr. Bob, Are you implying that blacks are supposed to act inferior? Samuel L. Jackson doesn't act superior. He just acts like a human being that has dignity and exudes confidence. If you don't think that everybody on earth deserves a chance to do this than perhaps you need to address your ignorance.

Nothing but a racist bully. In almost all his movies, he gets to act superior to white people in one way or another. I loved Red Violin until the end, when Jackson stole the violin. Imagine a movie where a white art collector steals something valuable from a bunch of blacks.

Samuel L. Jackson is most versatile actor or all times. What ever role he plays, he plays it to it's fullest. Sammy molds himself into each role - he becomes that person. Sammy is a natural. I have loved and admired him for years.

i think this man is one of the most underrated actors in the entire moviemaking industry. i definitely think he should take on some more dramas to show off his talent. he can capture the individual essence of each character and still let his sense of humor show through at the same time. plus the fact that he's one of the very few actors in hollywood who can cry on command. now that's really impressive. he possesses a certain charisma that's very attractive. and i don't hear much about him which is good so my image of him doesn't get spoiled. he could become a classic if he really wanted to...
