I love her early albums when she showed more rock chops. Her more recent years have lacked a lot to be desired.

I'd like to like this performer, but, she just seems too shallow and flash-in-the-pan. Had a few decent songs, but, no staying power.
TeresaG 03/06/2008
I just saw her in 2004 and she was awesome! She can still belt them out ~ and put on a 2 1/2 hour concert by herself. What an extremely distinctive voice (and great too!).
Victor83 07/17/2007
The best female rocker ever.
doobiesNhof 06/01/2006
Pat rocks. Ain't bad to look at either!!
thylacine 09/22/2005
Why she is not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is beyond me...she is great...i guess had she been a man, she would be a shoe in...oh well, if Carly Simon is not in there, but James Taylor is...if Donna Summer is not in there, yet the Bee Gee's are in there...if The Eagles get in on their first attempt, yet the woman they were the backing band for (Linda Rondstadt) waits year after year for her golden ticket...i guess Pat Benetar, Deborah Harry and The Go-Go'S will never recieve the R-E-S-P-E-C=T they ALL deserve
Guava Monkey 03/12/2004
Exemplifies everything that was cheesy and naff about 80s 'big hair' FM rock. This was of the worst of all genres, pedalling of the sort of turgid 'lighter waving' anthems played by fictional bands at school proms in series like 'Saved by the bell', 'Dawsons creek' etc.

The best damn voice I've ever heard. Pat has natural talent and a natural feeling for music. You can feel the passion in her voice, you can feel the pain in her heart. She's good real good, that comes natural to her. But make no mistake she worked hard damn hard to get where she is today. She had to put up with a lot of cr&p over the years and she did, beautifuly I might add. Allmost 25 years and still going strong, Sexy,Smart,Survivor and an Angel's voice this is what Pat Benatar is to me. All the negitives I am reading here seem to be based on two songs, two of her better known songs yes but in my opinion not her best songs try listining to "Promises in the dark","Shadows of the night","We belong" and then come back here to change your posting. If you don't agree Pat Benater Is "GREAT" you must be tone deaf
TritonAgain 04/09/2003
Just lousy. Nothing she's ever done holds up to the test of time... except maybe her plastic surgery.
klytie 04/03/2003
Best female voices: Pat Benetar and Linda Ronstadt.

able to diversify & what a set of pipes & still gorgeous at 50!

Pat Benatar is the best female singer from the 1980s. Her powerful voice and heartfelt lyrics make her one of rock and roll's most talented musicians. Pat opened doors for women in the rock industry that no one else could unlock. Her career spans just slightly more than 30 decades. How many people can claim that? Plus, her many top 10 albums and top 40 singles prove she is a mainstay in the music industry. Crimes of Passion is by far her best album, including hits such as "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" and "Hell is for Children". And who doesn't know the chorus to "Heartbreaker" by now? Pat Benatar is simply the best female rocker ever!

Pat Benatar was the female rock singer that all of us ladies looked up to in the 80's. Amazing voice and presence. I love all of rock tunes, but i especially enjoyed the blues influenced album "True Love". Pat had to deal with all the sterotypes of a woman being in the rock world, and came out on top.
TheFreak 09/20/2001
I like "Hell is for Children"and "Heartbreaker". Very good songs! And Pat is a terrific singer. Haven't heard all that much Pat Benatar. Nice songs, though!

Pat had a few good ones.

The only Rock'nRoll Woman In the World...
benatarrocks 03/16/2001
One of the most important female vocalists of the rock era, Pat Benatar is a groundbreaker for women in rock, managing to combine a successful career (ten gold and platinum albums, four Grammys) with a successful personal life (a 20-year marriage and two daughters) where her predecessors like Janis Joplin had failed. In the 1980s, her aggressive vocal style and hard rock music was a breath of fresh air from the music of her female contemporaries (can you imagine Linda Ronstadt or Barbra Streisand doing justice to "Heartbreaker" or "Hell Is For Children?" - sorry, nope). She continues to experiment with music styles in the 1990s, with blues, rock, and adult contemporary, all done with class and conviction. Besides, any woman who can punch out the president of her record company (check out the liner notes on 'Synchonistic Wanderings') and still have a recording contract the next day gets my vote. Rock on, Pat and Neil!

Anything 80s gets my five stars ;o)
Jessica Calabrio 02/22/2001
She's got it ! It's hard to describe, this unique whatever in her voice that makes me feel shivers down my spine. I think she did it best with her performence of "Shooting Star" available on "Synchronistic Wanderings". This one led me to cry. Thank God a light like this exists. May it never darken.

What a voice! I was hooked the first time I heard her voice. Beautiful to boot, that was icing on the cake. I just love her music. Pat & Neil, They Rock!!!
mr.Z 01/24/2001
Pat is absolutely wonderful! Never heard a more beautiful voice in my life! I am looking forward to her new release this spring 2001. By the way, for you fools who think she's an 80's has-been, this will be #12(not counting greatest hit & compilations)in 22 years! How many other lady rockers have/can/will do that? None come to mind. Britny Spears maybe? NOWAY! NOT IN YOUR DREAMS!
dka64 01/23/2001
PAT BENATAR SHE IS AND ALWAYS BEEN THE GREATEST FEMALE ARTIST THERE IS. HER MUSIC IS IN TUNED WITH THE TIMES. NO OTHER ARTIST COMES EVEN CLOSE TO WHAT SHE HAS ACCOMPLISHED IN HER LIFE. I' M A DIE HARD FAN SINCE THE 1980. FOR ALL YOU PEOPLE WHO PUT HER DOWN YOU ARE JUST "LOSEERS"!!!!!KEEP IT UP PAT ME AND MY HUSBAND STILL LOVE YOU.
davie 10/18/2000
Never heard a voice like hers! She is the best. She and her husband Neil are real people to boot. She has always had her priorities straight and I love and respect her. If anyone want to talk about any other "divas" talk to me in twenty years or 11 albums. Dave
kkis9720et 08/13/2000
Pat Benatar is clearly the best vocalist and live performer to exist ever!!!! If you haven't heard all the music, or seen this woman and her band perform live since the 80's, you are truly missing out on the greatest live performance you will ever see! She has grown as an artist in so many ways since the 80's! Those of you who are putting her down obviously haven't been following this dynamic performers career! Pat Benatar ISN'T a "hasbeen" nor has she stopped producing great material! Pat Benatar is alive and well in 2000, still making great music with husband/guitarist Neil Giraldo, and sounding better than ever!!!!

"Hit Me with your Best Shot" was one of my first rock and roll epiphanies as a nien year old, but that doesn't make the rest of her sorry catalog worth salvaging... much less celebrating
tony4474om 03/03/2000
Anyone who could say that Pat Benetar is not a truly meteoric talent is not dealing with a full deck. Like her music or not, there is no denying that she rocks and is one of the most gifted msicians of our time.8 octave range! Oh yeah!
gran4451om 03/02/2000
Pat Benatar was wonderful in the 80's and she deserves more repect from listeners today. Her voice and sound are still top-notch.
magellan 03/02/2000
Please. Get a life people. Pat Benatar was mediocre at best in the 80's - it's time to move on.

Oh yeah! She was great in the 80's and has a great new sound today.
Dawn4448om 03/01/2000
In my opinion Pat Benatar has the most incredible voice I have ever heard. She can sing in so many different styles and do them all well. She also has an incredible live show. She communicates with the audience and makes her shows so warm and personal.
Munson 02/29/2000
I've always liked her. In fact, my first concert was a Benatar concert in either seventh or eighth grade.
