Legends, like Beatles, what are the chances these guys all ended up in one great band. And another lesson on drugs and destruction.

It's hard not to lose yourself in an album like this; close the door, turn the phone off. This is the good stuff-

Their 1-star votes prove the kids are inane... it's only teenage wasteland... THE WHO were great (albeit with the occasional misstep) until Moon died. UPDATE: Now the survivors are irrelevant has-beens puffing up their portfolio for an audience of those born every minute. SUPERBALONEY.

Five stars for their performance at their peak in the late sixties and early seventies. About two stars for the pale shadow of themselves they are today. That 2010 Super Bowl performance was nothing short of embarrrassing. Lo, how the mighty have fallen.

I caught the half-time show on youtube. I have good memories of these guys, although I have no affection or sympathy for them, personally. They lived the high life, they've seen the world and they're as rich as sultans. And they're pushing 70 years old. Seventy. Years. Old. At that age, most people are muttering in tongues, stressed-out over having to decide over cottage cheese or oat meal, can't clip their own toe nails, need help getting their Depends on and obsess over how many times they've been fucked by life. Yah, sometimes it's hard watching people age, but they were there doing it, while we were here watching them do it. "Then summer fades and passes and October comes. We'll smell smoke then, and feel an unexpected sharpness, a thrill of nervousness, swift elation, a sense of sadness and departure." - Thomas Wolfe

"I hope I die before I start showing my belly like Britrney Spears, Talkin' 'bout my generation" They were vital, powerful and hugely influential for their first decade and could have done the elder statesmen thing for a couple of decades after that with some dignity. But sadly they have instead become the poster boys for ignoring the "Best Before:" date on the label. For a period in the late 80's early 90's Townsend appeared to be interested in making mature, introspective rock and roll. However he's fallen into reunion after reunion that is so bald-faced fiscally motivated that it makes it hard to listen to the pre-1975 work with un-jaded ears.

Rodger Daltrey still has the most primal scream in any rock song ever... I'll tip my hat to the new constitution Take a bow for the new revolution Smile and grin at the change all around me Pick up my guitar and play Just like yesterday Then I'll get on my knees and pray We don't get fooled again Don't get fooled again No, no! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! Meet the new boss Same as the old boss!

Amazing collection of prodigious musicians: incredible guitars, vocals, bass, and drums (most notably Keith Moon).

One of the many many legendary groups of the 60s-70s who revolutionized the modern music, who created amazing rhythms, melodies, tunes, that defined our generation and generations today world. They were Baby Boomers, the real BabyBoomers, with unparalleled talents in music. Anything close to these talents today ? NO. Why? I guess the technology is taking away from music. And still, the young people just don't have it.

The most compelling band of the British Invasion.  Pete Townshend is one of the great songwriters of the rock and roll epoch and a very terrific and underrated guitar player.  He was well supported by the finest rhythm section ever assembled in John Entwhistle and Keith Moon.  Roger Daltry was the weak link, but he was still better than most of the front men of that era, like Robert Plant (a true wuss) or Rod Stewart (another wimp).  Their early mod stuff stills sounds great.  They did produce the two greatest rock operas, and they continued to release very solid records until Keith Moon's death.  And, they were the most high-energy band of the 1960s and 70s.  In comparison, The Rolling Stones and Led Zepplin seem like Geritol music.
