I would have named this band 'The Punchline' because that's what they are.

Generally looked down on because of the overall talent pool they are mixed in with. Unfairly equated with less-talented modern bands like Creed and 3 Doors down. Their talent exceeds these and others by volumes. One of the best "modern" bands around. I disagree with their inclusion in this list, however. On another note, Rob Thomas' vocals are likely to lead him to a very successful solo career. On his own he is worthy of five stars. The acoustic rendition of "3 A.M." is incredible.

About as much of a real alternative/ indie band as, I would guess, Dick Cheney is a fan of Motorhead. Insipid garbage for teenyboppers.

matchbox twenty has quickly become a favorite for the mainstream pop/mainstream rock/adult alternative generes and many of their songs have topped the radio charts...starting with hits from yourself or someone like you such as real world, long day, 3 am, push, and back 2 good all these great songs gave matchbox twenty an amazing start...thier follow-up album, mad season was equally sucscessfull with, if you're gone and bent...and their latest album, more than you think you are was, like the other albums, a huge sucsess with, disease, unwell, and bright lights...matchbox twenty has a one of a kind sound and lead vocalist rob thomas is a very talented singer and songwriter... away from matchbox twenty, thomas made a smash hit with carlos santana thats hit being smooth (which is a great song but it was definately overplayed)...so far matchbox twenty has been unbelievably sucsessfull...it's been about 3 years since their last album and hopefully the next will be as good as the rest.

The most watered down, boring pop-rock to be thrust upon us by the evil powers that be in the music marketing business. WRETCH!!

They're not that great. Their best song is the one where they say I wanna push you around...I wanna take you for granted. I always loved singing along to that one. But as far as guilty pleasures go, I prefer Creed.

a guilty pleasure, anyone who gives them less than 3stars is a hypocrite cause i bet everyone here has caught themselves singing along to a matchbox20 song.....rob thomas doesn't get enough credit in my opinion.

These guys rock!! But a lot of credit has to go to Rob Thomas, for his voice and songwriting. the guy is the most talented frontman in the business today.

Rob Thomas has a pretty good voice but the music is dull and derivative.

Their music is so uninspired and sounds so much like everything else on the radio today. One song and you can actually fall asleep...BORING ! BORING ! BORING ! (It does help this band a little bit that Rob Thomas is really cute...but the music is just so bad they don't deserve more than 1 star...)

When Matchobox Twenty first debuted, I was fairly indifferent. Their first album failed to impress me but with the release of Mad Season and their latest More Than You Think You Are, they've really changed my mind. Their songs run the gamut from sad, sweet creations with gentle guitar and flowing strings to happy, power-alternative songs. In their last two albums, they have really stretched their wings and tested their own musical boundaries. Rob Thomas' voice has improved greatly, just enough rasp and soul. Each song is well-crafted and a joy to listen to. They may not be ground-breaking but they sure are enjoyable.

when their first cd came out, i was completely mesmerized by this band. they are immensly talented. they have some amazing lyrics and rob thomas is a very passionate and emotion filled singer, which i think is great. however after their first album i thought they mellowed out and sounded more alternative than rock. anyway i still think their pretty cool.

MB20's sound is pretty good. Their lyrics are good, but the thing I like most (and that warranted the 4 stars) is the variety of music styles their songs display. "Push" is in a punk style, while "Real World" is more upbeat. One thing is sure, these guys always keep it real.

A totally wonderful and refreshing sound!! They're not like the typical pop groups that write about meaningless things just to be popular. Their songs are about "real life" and beautifully written. I love their CD's and I hope to hear a new CD.

These guys are great for those who like alternative music, but who don't like music that is too heavy. They've got some really catchy songs which you never get sick of such as "Bent". They also have the ability to make each song unique which keeps you interested in their music.

Matchbox 20, 3td Eye Blind and all bands of this sort will go down as the disgraces of the 90s. They all rot.
