I liked Elvis a lot. In 1978 I bought my first Elvis album. He was a great singer and a pretty good actor too. He was a nice guy. One time somebody admired MR.Presley's Cadillac and he bought that man a Cadillac. It's too bad that he popped pills. He would do anything to get more drugs. He even drilled a hole in his foot to get more pills. When somebody saw him drilling the hole, they shouted "What the Hell are you doing?!" He replied "I have to get more pills." I don't know what kind of drugs that he could get by drillng a hole in his foot. The drugs that he was prescribed were most likely mood elevators. A lot of people used to think that Presley faked his death. I wish that Elvis hadn't died but sadly he did Elvis was a great man and his death was a tragedy. My favorite song of his is 'Burning Love.' I give Elvis a 5 star rating.

His heyday occurred long before I was a gleam in my father's eye. Had I been alive when he first burst onto the scene, I think I inevitably would have been a fan. By the time I became aware of him, though, he was a staple of boring, boring movies that tended to get played over and over again on Saturday afternoon Channel-9 crap-fests, and an overweight Las Vegas lounge act. I didn't dislike the songs of his that became hits during my childhood-- "In The Ghetto", "Burning Love", etc.-- but I didn't care enough about them to ever buy the records. Still, as little impression as he made upon me when he was alive, I still remember where I was and what I was doing when I heard that he had died. Sad end for a man who, superficially at least, had so much to live for.

You love him you hate him. He deserves his kudos for what he did accomplish rather than for what he did not. I did not like to listen to his music at all when I was younger. There were many other sounds that caught my ear. But as I grow older and more reflective, I know I know, and I listen to this man sing I can't shake the feeling that he was really original. No one else sounds like him. I must admit that some of them are classics. Not all of course. He battled his demons, his was food and pills rather than heroin or booze. Elvis had some pretty damn good songs. What's all this crap about the fat or the skinny elvis? Sheesh. What if by some way he was tall then short? Hey, he was just a man after all. He just tried to take care of business.
