I expected more, for I really enjoy period pieces. This was just a little confusing and plodding for my taste.

I watched it at the dentist's office where they have a television in the ceiling. The movie was aesthetically pleasing but my fillings were anesthetically not pleasing.

This movie was beautifully done. The instant the credits started rolling on the screen I decided it is in my top 5 all time favorites. It portrays the life of a geisha in an interesting way. It is by no means a documentary but is full of the traditions and styles of the 1930's Geisha.

I enjoyed this film for two reasons. One, The casting was done quite well. Everyone from the good girl to the evil, back-stabbing character to the character who is always the voice of reason is extremely believable. Two, it explains and portrays the life of a Geisha without straying into other plots which happens often in most films. The film is follows the life of a young girl who is from a poor family who is sold to a Geisha house and becomes one of the greatest.
