The Monday before Christmas, the site had a banner sign that there is still time to get items in time for Christmas. I purchased an expensive coat for my husband. Christmas is over now and the item never arrived. Worse yet, slow, unhelpful customer service people have given me different stories as to why it did not arrive, why I cannot get the order and why I cannot cancel, but not a single concrete answer. They keep saying someone who knows more will call me back, yet it hasn't happened. So, I still have no gift, an order that I cannot purchase, yet cannot cancel.

I placed an order on November 29 for Ray Ban sunglasses the day the whole company was 30% off- they were in stock. I got an email on December 3rd stating they had them in stock. When checking the status it said they would ship on 1-21-11. I am not sure what holiday they were thinking I wanted to give it for. I called on Saturday and the incompetent Customer service agent told me she would have someone call me in 24 hours. I am still waiting, it has been 3 days. I spent 2 hours getting help on Saturday and today I am on my 7 person and have waiting for over an hour for an answer. They are for sure the worst company ever. I would never deal with them again- and I am trying to cancel the order can't even get anyone on the phone to do so. DO NOT SHOP AT EDDIE BAUER FOR ANYTHING.

I am amazed to find so many negative reviews on this site for a major retailer. So I'll add to it. Placed an order with them 5 days ago that according to their site and the representative I just spoke with is available, but still hasn't shipped. I emailed them after 4 days to find out if there was a problem and when it would ship, the response to my inquiry was to simply ignore it. Hence, the call, on which the representative I spoke with said they average 6-7 days to ship a purchase. REALLY? I order from anywhere else and the next day its on the way. Maybe they should hire some help before they completely destroy their business. I'll not be doing business with them again.

Until recently, My husband and I had been a VERY loyal Eddie Bauers customers for over 30 years purchasing about 95% of our clothes from them. In the last couple years we've noticed the quality has suffered and customer service has gone downhill. They've increased the prices and in return we get garments that hardly last a season and it's as if they don't care about the customers anymore. I now purchase majority of clothing from LL Bean because their customer service is second to none. It's sad what has happened to Eddie Bauer as it was once a great company....no doubt Eddie Bauer is turning over in his grave. This company must get back to its mission statement if it wishes to keep loyal customers like myself.

Years ago, Eddie Bauer merchandise and service were exceptional....that was then, this is now. Customer service is at an all time low....long hold times, errant bungle in ordering/shipping, fradulently charging for S&H when you order online from store (S&H supposed to be waived), poor quality fabrics (made in China/southeast Asia where they can pillage their people, outsource jobs from the USA and then ram it to us good). Gotta love corporate America....I too am DONE w/ Eddie Bauer.

What has happened to eddiebauer.com??? This online store used to be my sole source of purchasing shirts and pants for my husband. Outstanding quality, yes, but no more outstanding customer service. I've had problems with my last two orders. On my second-to-last order, I received notification that one of the two items I ordered was no longer available. I was charged the full price of my purchase, though. A few days later, the full price was refunded on my credit card. When my order arrived, both items were included in the package. My credit card was charged for only one item with a shipping fee. I think. The charges did not seem to add up to the one item plus shipping fee, so I'm not sure how they came to the amount charged. I tried again to order a pair of pants and a shirt for my husband. The shirt arrived and I was charged for the shirt plus shipping charges. I still have received no notice about the pants. Backordered? No longer available? I placed the order 6-8 weeks ago. I have co... Read more

I am 5'2.5" tall, and their petite pants are too short. I've never had that happen, and they appear to cut their petites about 1" shorter than many other stores (Banana Republic and The Limited for example). If you are about my height and buy pants there, don't put them in the dryer, as mine shrunk up 1" and were then unwearable.

After ordering a shirt online, I received a message that it was backordered. I chose to wait and finally received the order. I should have cancelled. The care labels (2) were so long that they flipped the hem of the shirt upward and I had to snip them off before I could wear it. Bye-bye care info...I hope I don't need you. I wore the shirt while preparing dinner for friends and shortly after the meal was over, I noticed that four small holes had appeared at the front of the top! Trust me, the creation of dinner was not such a dangerous activity that damage was inevitable to my person. I think it's ridiculous that a brand new shirt should begin to decay within hours of first wear.

Be aware that if you order anything from Eddie Bauer on the internet you are likely NOT to be able to change or cancel your order almost immediately after its placed. They're nice about it but that's their opertaing policy. You will be stuck with a shipping and possibly return charge on any items you order. I recently ordered a coat and immediately realized I had made the wrong sleection. I immediately called them and was politely informed of this operating policy. Almost a week later, the item arrived and I returned it. I had to eat a $12 shipping fee that could have been avoided with most other sellers. Stick with LL Bean !

I ordered two pairs of Eddie Bauer wool dress slacks. They arrived in a plastic mailer and were, of course, completely wrinkled. It looked like they had just been shoved into the bag. I contacted Eddie Bauer customer service and told them I liked the slacks but they needed to be pressed before they could be worn. The customer service rep told me that the ONLY alternative would be to return the slacks for a refund. Incredible! This company must be run by morons.

I just wanted to share a quick story... I received a gift certificate for a Christmas present back in 2000 for $25.00 and held onto it for many years. I lived far away from any store and just never found the time to get to an outlet, nor was I aware I could use it online. While it did not have an expiration date, I thought maybe I could use it eventually. Last month, I called customer service and was informed it expired in 2003. However, she continued to say she could ask the gift certificate department if there was a chance to reissue but could not promise anything. A few weeks passed and I thought perhaps they chose not to reissue. Understandable, given the amount of time that had gone by... not to mention the state of the economy. Much to my surprise, I received a reissued gift certificate #E990406594447 in the mail yesterday for the full amount. I wanted to post this review after I placed an order to express my thoughts on this gesture. This satisfied customer will be tel... Read more

I have responded to many of the reviews for Eddie Bauer that were rated negatively for reasons that either had no merit, were obvious it was TRULY the customer's fault or just to say give Eddie another shot. I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT WORK FOR EDDIE BAUER, I AM NOT A LOYAL CUSTOMER AS I FRANKLY CANNOT AFFORD MANY OF THE ITEMS, AND I DO NOT HAVE AN INTEREST FINANCIALLY IN THIS COMPANY. *ALSO, I SPEAK ONLY FOR EDDIE BAUER PRODUCTS PURCHASED VIA AN EDDIE BAUER STORE, AT EDDIEBAUER.COM OR VIA THE 800 NUMBER CATALOG SALES -- NOT FOR LICENSED MERCHANDISE* My responses are based upon researching this company for school, understanding where it's been, what went wrong and where it is now. Many of the reviews for this All-American Great Outdoorsman Apparel Retailer are poor. You'll also notice that those reviews are dated several years back, a time in which Eddie Bauer was in a first bankruptcy with it's parent company, Spiegel and attempting to recoup after the spin off into it's own entity. BEWARE OF THEIR LIFETIME RETURN POLICY...I tried to return backpack recently and they would not take it saying that I did not have a receipt...they wanted me to ship the bag to their Ohio customer service( AT MY OWN COST) so that they could assess if my bag was damaged enough...it's the lifetime of the bag which is one year...and not your lifetime...so if you want to return, give it back within a year and offcourse keep the receipt !!!

I will never buy Eddie Bauer in the future. It used to be my favorite and I bought a Duffel wheels. Everytime I travelled and checked in my Eddie Bauer, I found handle was broken, a piece by a piece on the baggage conveyer. It could be with me only a few trips and had gone gabbage. The quality is totally unacceptable. Even it mentions 'lifetime warranty', it is not easy to claim. Anyway, don't come into my sight any more, Eddie!

I really like Eddie bauer for clothes. I like to wear a lot of skirts in the summer, the first place I check is Eddie bauer. The clothes are great for the office, or going out. I have looked at many other stores, but I get tired of the short shorts, and the thin t-shirt look available at the other mall shops.

I went to E.B. in Tuc. AZ customer service was horrible! I picked up a sweater that had a 29.99 tag on the display rack but at checkout I was charged 39.99 because the swater I picked had stripes. Gimme a break $10 more for stripes even though it was on the same table as the $29.99 solid color sweaters. Anyway, I did not get the sweater.

I have shopped at Eddie Bauer for many many years. Lately, their quality is very inconsistent. I would like to buy a pair of jeans or a sweater this month and then buy the same thing next month - but that is not possible. They switch vendors so the same jeans in the same size are now really a different size and the same sweater in a different color is also much thinner. I have called Eddie Bauer and have experienced great customer service. "Just return it and we are happy to give you a full refund." That is fine - but what I really want is quality I can count on - no longer available at Eddie Bauer. So sad. I hope they monitor sites such as this.

I truly like buying Eddie Bauer for my husband and grandson.  I find that the prices are reasonable and the clothes are conservative and stylish, not just fad items.  It is also nice that young and mature men enjoy wearing Eddie Bauer.

We bought a set of Eddie Bauer luggage and while rolling it along to check in at the airport one of the wheels fell off - it was the first time the suitcase had been used! Neither their manufacturer nor Eddie Bauer has made any effort to recitfy the situation. The manufacturer said they have been having problems with the wheels - then change the wheels or design a new set!

My wife started buying nearly all of my clothes from here. Before that, I could hardly care if my socks matched, so long as they were comfortable. Eddie Bauer is perfect if you don't really care too much about style, care about comfort, and want to look basically competent in your wardrobe.

Unethical sales practices. Example: Sales promotion for fall 2005 said you would receive a $25 'fall savings card' when you purchase $75 worth of merchandise. They then mail you the card. When you receive the card the fine print says you need to buy another $75 worth of merchandise in order to use the card. So, in reality you're buying $150 worth of merchandise before you can use the $25 savings card. Very deceptive, and it shows disrespect towards customers. Sizing is another big problem - moreso than any other online retailer I buy from. Some items run HUGE, so you never know which size to buy. You could order the item you want in a couple different sizes, but then you're spending a fortune on shipping and returns (and their shipping charges are already terribly high). Some (not all) of the customer service reps, when you call in, are very rude. More often than not. I'm going to boycott Eddie Bauer after this latest 'fall savings card' incident.

I am VERY unhappy with the poor customer service I have received. In late December I tried to return an item to a local store. The clerk was extremely rude and refused the return, embarrassing me in front of other customers. When I returned home, I called customer service and told my story. The man I spoke with apologized and offered to make up for this stressful experience by sending me a refund check. However when I called to check on the status of the refund, I was told that I had been sent a merchandise credit instead. I then talked with a number of people in customer service, including a woman in the corporate office, but they all refused to help me, merely restating the refund policy. Although they said they were sorry, it didn't come across as genuine. All three persons I spoke to sounded annoyed with me. I then sent an email complaint but received the same unhelpful response, with the same tone. I'm amazed that such a large company is so inflexible with their policies that ... Read more

I have never been impressed with the Eddie Bauer stores in my area (ie the Southeast). The clothes and styling seem rather generic and the prices do not differentiate the store either. I do get lucky on occasion and find some sale kakis, etc there. On the plus side, Eddie Bauer does tend to use heavier, better quality fabric, which I like.

Well !! this is the only place where i can custom order khakis . My odd size is 31 waist and 30 3/4th inseam. I personally am very happy with the service. The only blemish is when i ordered a Original Fit Jeans and they send me a completely different fit ( despite the tag on the jeans claiming otherwise ). The Store did give me a refund though. I would ask ppl to try out the website and use the online coupons wherever possible.

I like Eddie Bauer. The only thing is their identical shirts are going for different prices because the design on the front is different. The saleslady said the more expensive one was a little more recent. Come on! They are slightly overpriced & the durability of their t-shirts are not the best. But all in all, it's not bad.

Good quality for the most part, but for the fabrics used, 20%-30% too expensive. Great seams. Fit is above average. Styling is my main complaint. The styling leans too far to the middle of the road. Less plaid and less cotton would be good.

I remember when this store first opened. I thought it was a great store with good casual clothes. Then, I became unhappy with the styles and the quality so I stopped going. A few months ago, I went back into Eddie Bauer and found a jacket and a shirt that I liked and were moderately priced. I also saw a bunch of other stuff that I would have willing to buy. With respect to its competitors, Eddie Bauer's quality is better than Old Navy and it is more reasonably priced than The Gap, J. Crew, or Banana Republic.

Eddie Bauer has forgotten the youth market and moved to late 30's working man attire. No longer cool for college
