I used to buy from American Eagle all the time, they have gone downhill over the past 3 years for me. Seems the prices have gone up and the quality down. $80 for a sweater made mostly of ACRYLIC? I think not!!! They used to carry clothing made of 100% cotton, including nice denim. I like their boyfriend tanks, but the dumb logo they must put on it ends up putting a hole in the thin material. I used to spend about $1000 a year in their store, in the past year I don't think I've even spent $100 in there. I now go to J Crew and Abercrombie instead.

There's a certain horror of being assisted by teenage girls in which you are the same age. I understand the stress of working in retail and so I try to be as quick, friendly and easy to help as possible. But the other day, as I was job hunting and decided to apply to AE I could not believe that attitude of the girls working there. I called before going into their store to ask if they were taking resumes. The women on the other side of the phone told me yes and to come by to drop one off. So I did.. When I arrived at the store there were three girls about the ages of 18 working at the desk. Not one of them greeted me. I told them I had called earlier and that I was here to hand in my resume. One of the girls sighed and asked who I talked to. I told her the women never gave me her name. She looked at the other girls and finally said.."I guess you can fill out an application.." I said thanks and sat on a bench outside to fill it out. I got to a question that asked, "What times can... Read more

This is such a good store- the shirts are all so cool with the studs, the jewlery are sterling silver and pretty, the jeans can fit anyone (meaning no low-rise) and the price are.....ok. I usually look at the sale rack. It comes in handy though. When i needed black skinny pants for my band concert and they were right there! hope this review helped! Emma (13 year old)

American Eagle Outfitters is one of those stores that I'll only go to if they're having a sale and happen to be in the area I am in at the time. Let's just say I wouldn't plan my whole day on going to that store. When they are having a sale their prices are reasonable, but I don't really feel like paying $40 for a pair of plain denim shorts. I can get the same quality shorts for less than half the price at a different store, perhaps Target. Also, their clothing is a bit cliche to me. There are so many stores that sell plain V-neck tees with the store's logo on it in some fancy white font and have the nerve to charge me $19 dollars for it. If I'm going to pay the price for a shirt I can get in a bunch of other stores, it better be a mighty fine shirt. Besides that, they do have other nice things as well.

I worked seasonal at American Eagle outfitters here in Florida. I already had a job at a department store part time but I wanted more experience so I opted to get a second job just for the season. I will break down the basics. 1) The pay is terrible. I am 23 with plenty of retail experience (4+ years) and they still only paid me $7.50 an hour...while my other job pays me almost $10 an hour. They do give annual raises in February, but the raises (from what others told me) was very little...like ten cents. 2) They do work around your school availability and your other job, which is a plus. They realize you have other things to do. It is also very easy to give up shifts; you just ask someone to take it and tell a manager...problem solved. 3) The shifts are very short..only 4 to 5 hours. They do not like to give breaks so they just give you a shorter shift. During holidays though they sometimes schedule you for 8 hours, which is a lot. At my department store, I work 8 hours a shift but get... Read more

As an employee at American Eagle I felt the communication was terrible between the management and I and none of my requests for more informative training or hours available to work were met. I constantly asked for help from multiple members of the managment team for specific training guidlines and was denied everytime making me feel singled out like I wasn't wanted there. I also felt used because when I was needed there they just expected me to stay very long hours and then sent me home early on days where I was only schedualed to work three or four hours. Some weeks I was not on the schedual at all. When I was hired I was promised at least 15-20 hours. In comparison to any of my employment history this was one of the worst experiences I've had.

My favorite clothing store ever!!! ~Pros~ -Cool designs -great sizes (one of the few places to buy clothes for skinny people) -Its a name brand! so you look rich wearing AE!!! -Great Quality!!! ~Cons~ -the employees try to get you to hurry up buy something and leave! -you need a key to unlock the dressing room (AKA ask the employee to unlock the door!!!) -Kind of Expensive!!! but its only expensive because the quality is so good!

I personally think AE is a pretty good brand. Just as I think the same about A&F and HCO. What I like about the clothing at AE is that it's a bit wilder. For example, I have this racerback tanktop which is like a dark grey, almost black with zebras <3-- I wear it with these bleached and ripped jeans from Express,-- and these Ed Hardy sneakers that I've had for 5 years and I've ripped them up and given them a bit of a personality. I got tons of complements on that outfit. I have this plaid shirt, that looks really good with nude flats and HCO. jeans. I have a bunch of things in my closet from AE. It's just... welll... some things don't fit me well. What I like about AE, is that for their shirts, they have sizes smaller than XS. And these shirts USED to be pretty long to accomodate my height. In A&F and HCO., any xs shirt, is really short -.-. Now the shirts are made very sloppy. I once bought this V-neck "boyfriend" or "favorite" t-shirt. It had reasonably long short sleeves, it was... While its not a perfect brand, it is easily the best brand out of all of the "high school and middle school popular" brands. I generally try to avoid the popular high school brands, like American Eagle, A&F, and Hollister. But American Eagle is just too good of a deal. What I love about American Eagle is that they are not fake. They do not market themselves as a high end brand like Hollister and A&F do, and they are very reasonable with their prices. I myself wear Ralph Lauren, Lacoste, and JCrew a lot. Sometimes I have the urge to break away from the more formal brands and go more casual. American Eagle delivers on all cylinders. The pricing is very reasonable, compared to Hollister and A&F, and the quality is the same, if not better. T shirts, good quality t shirts at least, cost around 20 dollars; which is much more reasonable than the 30 - 40 dollar t shirts at A&F and Hollister. Jeans are an absolute steal at American Eagle. For 40 - 50 dollars I can buy myself a pair of jeans... Read more

I will not lie, their denim whether it be shorts or jeans for fall pepper my wardrobe. The ability to withstand a couple seasons of wear and tear have brought me back for more.. However despite my affinity for the clothing itself, I can't say that much for the customer service. There was an instance where I was carrying several items and the sales associate asked if they bring them to the register for "convenience" and instead they simply returned all the items to the floor while I continued shopping. As I came up to the register to pay said items were mysteriously, "misplaced." Writing that off as merely an accident would have been fine, had I not continued having similar "mistakes" made the next couple of times. Whether it was a poor batch of employees, or the company itself I have been wary ever since. These days, if its a pair of jeans I need I'll simply head straight to what I need and not bother to stop to meander elsewhere.. it is simply a hassle dealing with these people, its j... Read more

I was slightly intimidated with this store due to non-clearance prices. About a year ago though, I decided to give it a try when I found out they sell x-long online. When clothes go on sale, it's very, very affordable and quality is great. I only had one problem so far, but it was resolved. I ordered two shirts in exact same size and style, but different colors, and one shirt had amusingly short sleeves, I mean they were 2 in away from my wrists. I was mystified. I went to the store to return it, but the associate found the same shirt, but with longer sleeves, so I just exchanged it. Maybe I got lucky. I like buying their jeans, because they are long and fit me great (I have 36 inseam), and I always have problems finding a pair of jeans that doesn't make me look like a half-shot parrot.

Alright, I've worked here for a little over 2.5 years. There are some pros but I think the cons outweigh the pros for sure. First off, the hours are unfair as what other associates have been saying. Some people get an outrageous amount of hours while others barely get any. Mine range from week to week. We should NOT have to rely on getting credit cards to "earn" our hours. That's a little outrageous. Watch for your hours randomly getting cut too, because they overschedule or are over in hours for the week. Another thing on the credit cards, MAYBE if we had something to work towards we would try a little harder to get those credit card apps for you managers. Unfortunately, the managers get the credit for the associates work (aka bonuses). :) Also, the hourly pay sucks. I started at minimum wage of course and worked my way up to 7.25, but then last July the minimum wage went up to 7.25. Did my wages get increased on top of the minimum wage change? No, so I pretty much started... Read more

I like american Eagle ALOT!!i have over 200items from there store i like shopping on clearance sometimes when i don't have much money because they alwayz plenty of polos and t-shirts for low prices on clearance but the pants.shorts, shirts, and hoodies are all nice and comderable and sometimes there stuff can be expensive but if your into fashion its worth it because ((AE))is the best preppy brand to wear its way better than Hollister,Cheap Aeropstale and over expensive Ambercromnie and Fitch. Today i went to American Eagle and got a polo shirt and 2 nice T-shirts from American eagle for only 27.50 very reasonable prices!!

Sale prices are fantastic, regularly priced items are so-so to expensive. Overall cuter stuff and much better quality than Cold Gravy and The Crap. I'm 30 and am too old to dress head-to-toe from this store, but their shoes (esp. the flats) are a great buy and it's easy enough to mix the clothing and accessories with more age-appropriate items. Bought my winter coat there last fall and LOVED IT. Because of my age I feel slightly weird walking into a store (nowhere near as unwelcome as an A&F though), but it's worth it for the deals. I also shop a lot online and I've always found good deals and great service in that respect. Highly recommend!

My order was placed on February 18, 2010, AE notified me about a problem with the Billing and Shipping address via email then told me to call and verify. This was verified on two occasions over the phone (via Cell Phone, then from Billing Phone), however over sometime AE then informed us that they needed to have a conference call between AE, the bank and the the billing phone number, AE then called on one occasion during the day time and left a voice message, two weeks has past and no attempt has been made to contact us. It's almost a month and the order has been stuck at this stage for some time now. This is absolutely the worst customer service I have ever received from an online store. I am placing numerous comments on sites these so that others won't have to experience the terrible service AE provides, I'm sure that it will go nicely with what others have posted previously, guess the people that wrote about the terrible customer service were right.

Im an employee at american eagle I have worked here for over a year and have no recieved a raise, our store manager is awful, she doesnt listen and she hires too many employees, our assistant managers are pretty good, they are nice and are good listeners, however my manager/boss gives some employees 4 hrs a week, and others 32, i was avaiable 6 days open to close and recieved an average of 8 hrs. which was rediculous. I really enjoy working with customers and i love fashion, so i thought this would be a great job for me, i also get a great discount, i like most of the clothes, but i can usuaully predict what will or will not be popular, before i worked here i did shop, but didnt buy that much but jeans and tshirts, now i love seeing all the new stuff come in, i still LOVE the jeans, they are great quality and last me about 2 years. Overall i do enjoy the store, its one of my favorites, but how my manager treats us is appauling, i believe other stores have better management, hopefully... Read more

I've been working at AE for 5 years. It is a great company with quality, affordable merchandise. When I first started at AE I never wore any of the clothes and I was not very into the style. Over the years the clothes have become better fitting, and also better quality. We offer a variety of different items that are very versatile and attractive. Our jeans have been redesigned to fit better and we offer a large variety of styles, fits, and washes. Yes, you will get clothes that have damages or become damaged. Do you really thing that with over 950 stores there will be absolutely no items that were screwed up in the making? I have had damaged returns and AE offers a generous return policy with no time limits and easy receipt look up where we can search by credit card or all-access pass. With receipt you will get your money back as you paid for it and without receipt you can exchange or receive in-store credit for the current price. Our styles target 15 to 25 yr olds but I have see... Read more

Honestly, the only type of clothing I buy from there is the outerwear because inside their AE tag says "tested over and over again to assure you an unrivaled quality and worry-free wear" which convinces me of the durable quality. However, the prices are close to $100 per article of outerwear. Very expensive because some of their styles are ridiculously "over-worn" look, as if a homeless was wearing it and returned it to the store. I do like their PEACOATS and that's pretty much it. The customer service is decent but diminishing. I would have to find an associate to open a fitting room. Overall, decent if you can afford it! but PRICEY if you're into fashion!!!

American Eagle clothing is of absolutely TERRIBLE quality. I have stopped shopping there for good because I've just had enough of their outrageous prices and all you're paying for is for that little AE embroidered on the clothing somewhere. The material that they use is very cheap and on top of that, the clothes are cheaply made as well. Bought a shirt from them last week - 2nd time wearing it and the seam has already started coming apart. My boyfriend bought a pair of jeans from them a month ago, they ripped at the belt loop seam the first time he wore them. I could go on and on - many more examples! It took me a while to finally get fed up with them and I wasted alot of money on alot of shoddy clothing made with shoddy fabric in shoddy little overseas factories. You can get similiar quality clothing at the dollar store.

I always say this, but if they didn't make logoed tees they would be the best affordable brand ever. I went to AE today (more like yesterday, considering the time) and they had pretty affordable, cute, and abiding-by-my-school's-dress-code clothes. The employees were really helpful when I needed to find a specific cardigan, and the store setup is awesome, too.

I was recently shopping at the American Eagle Store located in the Aventura Mall, Aventura, FL and I was not impressed by their customer service at all! It was terrible! I was constantly being harassed for a F****** credit card. I asked for help concerning a particular jean I was really interested in, and the associate Coleen had no F****** clue as to what she was doing, and on top of that she was giving me attitude. I was starting to feel bad because I thought it was me at first........ But then I realized it was not. She was giving fellow employees a hard time, giving them attitude as well, and over all....... I just realized she was just a plan F****** Bitch! I will never go to this store ever again! Thanks Coleen!

American Eagle Outfitters is one of my favorite stores. They don't have pictures of half naked men plastered all over the walls like Hollister and Abercrombie & Fitch do, and they don't spray a ton of perfume around or play their music quite as loud either. This is the kind of store you can go into with your grandma. They also have a good range of sizes. They don't assume that everyone is a size 0. The salespeople are really helpful, at least when you're checking out. They tell you about discounts and buy one get one half off stuff so you can save money. If you buy the clothes at the regular price, some of them can be expensive. The polos are normally $24.50 or $29.50 but they're always having sales and I got 4 polo shirts for $12.50 each. Their jeans are kind of expensive, so I get most of mine secondhand, but they last awhile. I like their corduroy pants too. One downside is that you can't get your school uniform polo shirts at American Eagle if your school doesn't allow logos.

I amsolutley LOVE AE! I shop there at LEAST once every 2 weeks and NEVER leave empty handed... in fact I usually walk out with 2-4 bags haha. I would have to say out of all the clothing stores i shop at (A&F, Hollister Co., Forever 21, Express, Banana Republic, and the Loft and mannnny more), it is my favorite. Price doesn't really matter for me seeing as both my parents are lawyers =] i love money <33 but anyway to everyone who complains about the price, maybe you should take a stop in your tin wagon to Target or Wal-Mart and go on a 20$ shopping spree, I am sure you would get ALOT. Stay out of the stores for the High Class please. K, thanks, byee. I LOVE AMERICAN EAGLEEEEEEEEEEE <333333333333333333333333333333333

I've been working at AE for about a year now, and have shopped at AE stores prior to my job. I can def say that if you're looking for clothes suitable for middle and high school, this is the store to go to. I find the styles get revamped and reused season after season, which makes AE seem a bit bland to me, but nevertheless 'safe'. I have seen customers ranging in age from 12 to early 30s. The quality varies from product to product; I find the tanktops, tshirts, soft-knit sweaters, hair accessories - things like that - are made very cheaply. If you are going to shop at this store, I would highly recommend the outerwear (winter especially) because it is def built to last. I would also recommend the jeans (all pre-shrunk) however, be aware that they stretch to become about a half-size larger. Sizes and proportions are about right, although I find Aerie bras to be a bit bigger than usual. In terms of lingerie, I find the Aerie brand to be surprisingly competitive, as in some respect th... Overall, a great store. I own a few clothes from there-and they all are pretty high quality and lasting. The prices are a bit high, however you can either buy the newest items when they have great deals, or just go to the clearance rack for lower prices (I never find myself doing this though, lol). The styles are always new and exciting, and the employees are always helpful and friendly when helping the customers.

It is a good store, not amazing, but not awful. I've been working there for about half a year, and really do like the clothes, I shopped there way before I started working there. Over half my wardrobe is AE, I don't like the jeans, but I love the tops, and Aerie. I've never been a fan of A&F; or Hollister, and find the scruffy beach bum look tacky. Many people say that it is expensive, but it depends what you are buying. Everything gets marked down anyways, within a month or two that $30 t-shirt is down to like $10. Yes, they do overhire, and you do often have to stay until 1 in the morning, when you should have been done at 11pm, but thats the job, and you adjust. As for the employees, it depends who you ask for assistance, many people at my work can find you exactly what you need, while others can't differentiate between a skinny jean and a straight jean. They don't train you for long enough, but people either catch on or quit. And for the refund policy, it is WAY too lenient. They h... Read more

Love the stuff! fantastic quality, beautiful and stylish colors (like pomegranate juice!) and wonderful service every time I go in. In reply to njkjfdlkjklrj4kl5333333333333333333333333333333333, items sometimes get damaged. It happens. But fortunately they have a FANTASTIC return policy. Any new merchandise that was purchased with damage can be returned for full price-with or without receipt. Without a receipt you just get a gift card with the amount on it. If you've had jeans for 5 years and they have a defect-like a tearing button hole-you can get the "current price" for them, so its basically $5 on old stuff, but it is better than throwing it away!
