I've had by 2005 Frontier SE two and a half years now and have racked up 153 K on the clock. This is a wonderful truck with power, style and reliability. I recently brought back my truck to the dealer due to a "service engine soon" light and fully expected this was due to a component failure. Nope, dealer found my evaporative emmision control cannister was full of dirt from the unpaved road that I happen to live on. I was back driving the truck that same day and the problem with the dirt in the cannister never did harm performance. the truck still runs and performs like the day I took delivery. Oh, I did have one failure; a burned out tail light bulb.

I purchased a brand new 2005 Nissan Frontier Nismo 4 door about 7 months ago. This is the best truck I have ever owned, except for the gas mileage, I am averaging 11.5 around town and 16 on the highway. The best part about this truck is the power. My friends have F150s and Silverados and were laughing because mine is only a V6. Well they don't laugh anymore because they can't come close to the performance of this truck both on and off-road. I have tried to get this truck stuck in the snow and mud and so far this seems to be impossible. This truck also has the option to press a button and lock the rear differential. If you are considering buying a Frontier, drive the Nismo edition! The truck is only $4K more or so than the other models and you get so much more for your money. The Nismo edition came w/ full skid plates, spray on bed liner w/ bed divider and extender, Billstein shocks and oversized tires. The nicest feature is the built in bed rails. There are 2 side rai... the cost of repairs for foreign autos and trucks makes them a poor investment; the difficulty of finding a repair shop in a rural area makes them a poor risk for business or commuting.

just bought a 2001 with 401,000 miles; looks new and engine looks and runs like new; just hasd to have the ERG valve replace however (used car dealer paid 1/2 of expense); I love this truck! Wish it got bett gas mileage (getting 20 MPH) but knew that going in. Plenty of power for what I want.

I own a 1999 nissan Frontier CrewCab V6a nd it has never let me down. It is the best vehicle I have ever owned. Just for those who may be curious, my truck frequently travels over 100 mph with no problems, gas mileage isn't affected much and the handling is great. I am definitely a Nissan fan.

I got a 2003 XE Crew Cab about a month ago. It has good power, looks good for a new vehicle (I'm partial to the older vehicles) and has plenty of room for all the stuff I need to haul for my job! So far I only find 2 drawbacks, one being the gas milage, I average about 20mpg and I don't like the overdrive button on the gearshift (It's an automatic) I live in the mountains so it's not too often I want overdrive but the default is on and you have to push the button in to turn the O/D off. Not used to it and I forget. Guess I'll get used to that. Overall a nice little truck! For you Buy American people, don't you realize how much of your "American" vehicle is made in other countries?? By the way I'm a chick :)

I love my truck, I have a 2001 Frontier XE 4 cyl. It is the best truck I've ever driven. Aside from some trim and seal issues this truck has never let me down. And as for the person who asked about driving something All American, they are nothing but junk. I worked for GM for 10 years and have owned a few before and they are crap. Transmissions fall apart, Engine knocks, just plain junk. Don't get me started on AC Delco parts that literally fall apart. Don't knock it until you have tried it.

I own a 2003 2wd XE 4 cylinder. After reading many of the reviews on this site the low ratings come from people who do not seem to own one of these wonderful vehicles. My family owns nothing but nissans. My dad used to think like many people that domestics are the way to go. After owning his first nissan he has bought nothing else. They are one of the toughest vehicles ever produced. my mom's company buys only Ford's and they are in the shop more then on the road. Our '93 maxima had an oil change and the plug wasn't tightened all the way and all the oil was lost. we had to drive it two blocks back home and when a new plug was installed ran the same as before for another 100k miles. My truck is awesome it has unfornately been in three accidents and just keeps on running. You cannot break these cars. They are amazing.

You all obviously don't know your truck. I bought a 2002 CrewCab brand new, so far its been a reliable vehicle but that's where it stops. The auto-transmission is geared wrong and runs 2800+ RPMS at 65-70 mph, SUCKING GAS. It's great if you put around town, but if you have to travel highway forget it. It's governed to 95 mph. Bet not many of you new that. Don't beleive me, ease up to 95 mph and see if it don't start bucking and choking. They goverened the engine to a max mph of 95. Other than those two irritating points it hauls what I need it to haul.

We have a 2000 frontier 4 door, crew cab. WONDERFUL vehicle (not something to judge by cover - wonderful looking on outside and hardly to have problems). Our frontier has 130K and made two trips between west-east coats - NO PROBLEMS at all! Just had to replace brakes and tires... passed emmission test with flying colors... We think we will keep it until it reaches a million mileage. If engine blows up, replace for newer engine for like 2k to 3k. Save money!!! WONDERFUL!!!!

I have a 04 Crew Cab SE with the nice leather interior, 17 alloys borrowed from the Super-Charged, and 6CD in-dash changer with premium speakers...this truck is loaded (minus the Super-Charger). There is absolutely no way anyone can get such a loaded, sexy looking, reliable, head turning, comfortable compact or full size truck with all the mentioned benefits for under $24,000. I have owned two of these trucks, an 01 Crew Cab and now my 04. Do not listen to all the Import haters that leave bad rating...they probably don't even own one of these beauties. These trucks are built tough and perform exceptionally great on-road with comfort and not with that choppy feeling you get from Tacomas. They are extremely capable of towing up to 5000lbs. with no problem, and best of all they LOVE when you take them off-roading. I outfitted my truck with an AIRAID cold air intake system and a Flowmaster exhaust. The sound and the added pep is fenomenal and you get this using the cheapest gas available 8... Read more

I bought a Frontier in August. I love it and have always been a Ford person before. I have two kids and horses. This is the perfect truck to do all that needs to be done. Best of all I had a great salesman that called me when the color I wanted came in.

Its not a bad little truck. But my big thing is that If I want a decent amount of power, I have to get the supercharged engine. The interior feels cheap to me with that plastic feeling. I just don't feel the quality for the price. For the amount for a SC nissan I can get a bigger roomier Dakota with a powerful V8. Just my two cents. If you want a small truck for just putting around and good gas milege and pretty well built than get a Nissan

Just got a used (new looking) 2001 SC Crewcab and so far it been very good. Milage is a bit on the downside, but hey, all the other comparable truck have the same problems. As far as Consumer Report is concern, they're comparing cars to truck, which is silly. And when you look at reliability, Nissan and Toyota, they will alway be a better buy. I rather be driving my truck than having it service all the time like my other olds american car. (hint) As far as people knocking down Nissan, they are all one liners. My neighbor's Ram truck is barely 5 years old, and all the paint on the hood is gone, talk about poor quality.

Before my 2000 Frontier Desert Runner, I was always a Toyota owner. I have been extremely impressed and pleased with my Frontier KC. Love the truck, and would buy another in a heart beat. Now if there can be more after market support, who could ask for more.

Purchased a 2001 Frontier SE-V6 Desert Runner in January 2001 and have had 4100 trouble free miles so far. Gas milage is between 20 and 21 mpg average, with a best tank of 24 mpg. Adequate engine power from the V6, although a little more oomph at highway speeds would be nice. Manual shifting is crisp and smooth, and it feels more like a car than a truck. The steering is could give more road feel, and it can feel skittish going around really bumpy curves. Parking is a breeze because the truck is VERY nimble. The interior is very quiet, except when accelerating hard. The front seats are very comfortable, even for long trips. The rear jump seats are not very comfortable at all, best used only when necessary. The HVAC system works too well sometimes and requires constant fiddling when it is really cold outside. The optional 6 Disc CD Changer is a joy, but the rest of the stereo system could use better speakers and better balancing between the full range speakers and the subwoofer... Read more

I'm 6'3" and its a comfortable fit. Nice ride on and off-road (even long trips). Way cheeper than a Ford. The 3.3L has plenty of "go." Looks better than a Dodge. Take care of her and she goes forever! Its NOT a Toy and IS a truck that happens to be number one on this list! Deserves five stars!!!

I own a '98 King Cab, and have found this to be a great little truck. It will be thoroughly tested on a "road trip" soon. The truck is built well, and stands up to the abuse of the streets in Dallas. It looks good, handles well, gets good milage, and is peppy enough not to get run over by most vehicles on the road. I have owned several Japanese built cars, and remain impressed still with this truck. I'd buy another one (Preferably the Supercharged Model.), if I could afford it. Right now, this truck is the one.

I have put over two-thousand miles on my 2001 Nissan Frontier Desert Runner in the two weeks I have had it, and I love it. Power is excellent, throttle response (on stock air cleaner, mind you) is exceptional. Dealer incentive got me the V-6 for two-hundred more than the plain-jane vanilla model I'd been looking at six weeks earlier. Plus, I started to fishtail on ice/gravel a few days ago, and this was the fastest correcting vehicle I've ever driven. Love it! Cannot say enough about it!

When I was looking for a cheap new reliable descent-size commuting vehicle to replace a totalled 90 Saab 9000 in late 98, I went through a two-month obsessive decision process and decided first on a truck (yuk, been driving fine sports cars for 35 years) and found the anemic (4-banger only) 98 Frontier to be the cheapest and most plenitful deal around. So, after much deliberation, I accepted a fully loaded XE K/C 5-speed 4x2 for just over 12 grand. But, it was in the unpopular timber frost color (yuk at first, but now I like it's exclusivity). To my surprise, the Frontier is quite quiet and comfortable for a 16.3-mile commute, and the premium stereo is quite good after replacing the speakers. And it can haul a few cubic yards of smelly, slimy cargo...something I didn't have the nerve to try in Saab hatchbacks. But...yes, it's top-heavy compared to a sports car, and handles similar to an American truck or car from the 1960s, resplendent leaf springs and all, but with only a small f... Read more

I have a 00 Crew Cab SE V6 and I'm impressed so far - The engine has plenty of power, There is plenty of room inside (no like the toyota tachoma), drives *great* and I'm impressed with the overall quality of the vehicle. Ground clearance could be better, but it's not bad. Great vehicle! And if it helps.. there are plenty of nissan trucks on the raod with 200,000 + miles and still going strong.
