I think this is one of the better teen movies of the 80s. Now I've got that "She must be somebody's baby" song playing in my head.

Classic teen movie, but being one of the first in its genre, it can't be classified as cliche. Love it!

I've seen this movie in bits and pieces and I don't remember it that well. Judge Reinhold's moments were classic, and while I thought Sean Penn was pretty funny back then, I can barely stand him now.

An unflinching, uncompromising sleazy teen comedy that wouldn't be filmed today considering the gutless turds that produce movies today. . .it's a real dated 80's film, but still gets laughs. . .

One of the best youth films of the 80's. Sean Penn was priceless as Spicoli and Ray Walston is a perfect foil for him. The rest is a well done coming of age movie that I thought was right on the mark for American teens of that era.

Teen movie classic which I still say is Sean Pean's best performance, and he doesn't like to talk about it? A lot of serious issues served up with a lot of very funny moments. One of the few of it's genre worth watching.

Another cult '80s comedy that rather mystifies me as to why it's considered such a classic. Pros: 1. It's enjoyable, and, unlike Porky's, it's an intelligent film that shows a genuine, sympathetic insight into the world of teenagers. 2. Sean Penn as Spicoli is a very funny character, and I knew someone in high school who was an absolute dead ringer for him. According to the DVD commentary, Penn was very heavily "into" the role, and it paid off to create a memorable character and got Penn started on a very successful career. I should also give credit to the late Ray Walston as Mr. Hand, who was the perfect straightman for Spicoli. 3. You can indeed relate to the characters- personally I find myself something of a cross between Ratner and Brad. 4. Eye candy: Jennifer Jason Leigh is utterly adorable, and Phoebe Cates is stunning, especially in her infamous topless scene. Cons: 1. It just isn't all that funny. There are some good moments, and it's a well-made entertaining film, but the hu... Read more

I could give this movie a six if their was one. Great..... even to me who hates mindless comedy. The best coming of age comedy ever. Loads of future stars, a great script, some classic comedy timing.... get this... from Sean Penn! Crowe created a masterpeice.

A pretty funny slice of 80's teen culture. Ray Walston stole the show as Mr. Hand. I think all of us had at least one uptight, overwrought, hardass teacher like that in high school. That's probably why he was so funny.

I really don't see how this movie is supposed to be funny. It's the 1980s version of American Pie, but unlike American Pie, it's not funny. However, the conclusions the main character reaches at the end are good. I liked the end of this movie a whole lot better than most. But no, it's not funny. The only reason I could see people wanting to watch this is that it's a classic and that Phoebe Cates and Jennifer Jason Leigh (this was back when she actually looked good) take off their clothes.

Loosely based on Cameron Crowe' undercover observations of a real high school, Fast Times At Ridgemont High (1982) set the standard for the typical 1980's teenager movie. For the uninitiated, the film essentially follows several interrelated stories of a few of the students at fictional Ridgemont High. The most notorious is slacker Jeff Spicoli (Sean Penn) who dreams of being a professional surfer, orders pizza in class, and remains in constant conflict with his teacher Mr. Hand (Ray Walston). Other main characters are Judge Reinhold as senior Brad Hamilton who is stuck in a series of bad jobs, his lovesick sister Stacy (Jennifer Jason Leigh), and Phoebe Cates who plays Stacy's best friend. The movie is also notable for appearances by Nicolas Cage, Nancy Wilson, Forest Whitaker, and Anthony Edwards. The bottom line is that Fast Times At Ridgemont High is essentially a benign comedy that gets a bonus star due to its cult status, cast and influence on latter copycat films.

The classic teen movie. The movie which all other teen movies have since aspired to be. It has everything: Sex, boobs, jerking off, pot smoking, what more could you want in a movie?

This is a great movie! All the main characters are interesting. Everyone who watches it can identify with someone in the story. It is very funny and almost seems like a parody of what high school was really like for me.
