My 2004 Toyota Avalon now has 105,000 miles. Aside from regular oil changes, all I've done are brakes and the recommended change of the timing belt and water pump. With this I think it might go another 100,000 miles. This is an absoulutely fantastic vehicle. It averages about 25-28 mph. The vehicle is very comfortable and the stereo system is outstanding. I love the electronic dash board display. I have no complaints at all.

Great car with all the bells and whistles but the gas mileage is terrible. Toyota can do better.

Best car I've owned to date. It's a burgundy 1996 Avalon XLS loaded with every available option (leather, moonroof, etc.) and a smooth, powerful V6 that runs very good despite that it has 167K miles on it. I'm very pleased with this car and if you test drive one you will buy it. It's that nice. People often say this car is built for older people, but I can tell you I'm only 25 and love my Avalon!

The best car we've ever owned, an '01 Avalon. Super reliable, very smooth. An almost Lexus. Engine so quiet you have to check the tach. This thing cranks out 25-30 mpg at 70mph in super comfort. The only negative thing is the steering is much too light when on the highway. The 2005 Avalon looks even better with a new 280 hp mill.

This review is for the 1997 model. This car is very well designed, comfortable and has very good reliability. Having maintained it well over the last 2 years, I have had no major problems with it. I think the front end styling leaves something to be desired, but overall it is a good looking car, certainly better than many American sedans of the era. It is safe, quiet and overall an excellent buy.

My 2001 Avalon is an absolute jewel! The motor is so quiet that I sometimes check the engine to see if it's on. The back seat fits three adults comfortably. I'm about 5 feet tall and I love the electronic settings. No more car seats for me. I haven't had any car trouble whatsoever. The only complaint I have is the wheel and steering column locks if the wheels aren't straight when parking.

The best full size car. You get entry level luxury, plenty of room and power, and excellent Toyota reliability.

Purchased an 01 Avalon in October 01; received first of two engine sludge notices 4 months later. Engine oil analyis shows fuel and silicon in oi. Had oil changed 5x in 11K miles; did not stop oil fouling. Negative battery cable terminal end failed causing total electrical system failure. Automatic heater controls malfunction; difficult to set and forget without having to manually reset. Dash reflects onto winshield causing driver's vision obstacle. Blind spot on driver's side; mirrors not designed/placed properly. Ride has deteriorated a lot over 15K miles; rides like an older, cheaper car already. Transmission hangs up and spins and then thuds into gear. Loud squeaking in dash area and in steering column. Automatic door locks operate once in a while. Remote fob range much too short. Seat belts twist up and do not retract when removing. CD changer unloads cds at random. Heated seats controls are either on or off; do not have thermostatic controls.

This car should cost more. Fast and a great resale value. My family has 2 and we love them. The only compable cars in the price range are volvos and the mazda millenia. Watch out for the repairs outside of warrenty, quite expensive. If you want a lexus quility car but don't want to pay for it, buy an avalon. In addtion this is a safe car, very safe and awful fast. On several ocasions I have looked down at my speedometer and seen it going past 90 when I thought I was only at 75. smooth, quiet and did I mention fast?
