ALTIMA HYBRID 2007 My father bought this car new and I drive it from time to time. When he got it the Government was giving money back to people buying hybrid vehicles as an incentive. Likes: - When the gas engine is on the car has good power - The idea that we are saving money on gas and being nice to Mama Nature - Lots of interior room - Good dash layout - Exterior is fresh - Great visibility when driving - Never have to use a key (Just have the key fob in your pocket.) Dislikes: - Due to the large battery, the back seats don't fold flat - Smallish trunk due to battery - Stock wheels are boring (We replaced them) - MPG is only 32 in the summer - Car is completely silent when in "Electric Vehicle Mode" All in all we like the car, however, we expected the MPG to be better. We would buy it again. W

I also have a 2002 Altima, and have had nothing but problems with the car and the nissan dealership. I almost bought a 2007 thinking that the used car dealership I bought th ecar from were to blame for the crappy car. They're not. I have done some research and now realize that it is difficult to find an altima owner of more than three years that is happy! I have just found out that my head gasket is completely blown, and I still don't know why my heater only works on the highway, or what that mysterious waterfall sound under the dash is. I had a knob brake for my heater/air conditioner, and took it to nissan to befixed. they did fix it, but when I picked it up, the repair man told me "Be easy on it, we didn't have the parts we needed, so I had to glue the parts back together." Sorry, but a respectable repair facility, especailly the dealership should take a little more pride in their work. If they told me the part had to be ordered I would have been happy to wait for them to come in, b... Read more

One voice from within a crowd is not going to be heard. We need to orgainze and become the voice that will roar through the halls and offices of Nissan NA headquarters and be heard throughout the Nation. Together we can accomplish much more and help each other cope and identify issues before matters become worse. Together we shall stand shouting at Nissan and together we will demand justice. Through our work, our sweat, our financal pain and suffering we shall emerge victorious. We will together fight this giant and open the eyes to other Manufactors and create a security and justice for all consumers. Together we will talk the talk and walk the walk. But to be successful we must prepare our selves for the long haul. We must spread the word and let others know we are here and we are not going to stop until the problems are resolved. We fight today! Together we prevail! Spread The Word!! www.thenissanfight.com

I also own a 2002 Nissan Altima 2.5. It is a hunk of junk! The car idles rough when it fist starts, there is a water rushing sound under the dash, and my check engine light has been on since 70,000 miles. I have 75,000 miles on the car and it has already blown a head gasket. My private mechanic, who is a family friend, notified me of the problem, and he also stated that the catalytic converter was also bad. I did not want to pay for the repairs after reading so many negative comments of the common problems with this crappy car. I reported the problem to Nissan Consumer Affairs. Mark Worley a specialist told me to take the car to a Nissan Dealership to have it diagnosed. Now the dealership wants to charge me $95.00 just for looking at my car and telling me I have a blown head gasket, but supposedly nothing is wrong with my catalytic converter. Which I think is crap because in CA by law o2 sensors and catalytic converters are covered up to 100,000 miles. Thanks a lot Nissan for stepping ... Read more

I have a 2002 Nissan Altima that I bought new. First the heat stopped working at idle unless I was traveling at high speeds. I took it to the dealer 3 times before the warranty expired and 3 times after and the heat is still not fixed. 2 weeks ago my car wouldn't run past 40 mph. I took it to the dealer and they diagnosed the Catalytic converter as needing to be replaced. A week later the car still didn't run properly. I took it back to the dealer and they told me that the cat broke apart and fragments ended up in the engine and now the engine needs to be replaced. I've called Nissan and am awaiting a response. If I have to end up paying for a new engine I will get as many nissan owners who have had similiar problems and put a news story together starting in Philadelphia. Email me at [email protected] if you've had similiar problems.

I purchased a 2006 Altima SE-R a month ago and I don't have any complains. The car is fast, roomy, sexy and FAST. I owned a '97 Montero Sport and I keep wondering why I didn't buy a car much earlier.

Not as nice as I remember the Accord, but still a quality mid-level sedan.

I purchased a 2002 Altima 3.5 V6 in June of 2002. In Feb. of 2005, with 21000 kilometers on the clock (conceded, low mileage = brake rust danger), major rear brake repair for rust and seizing. No problems noted for front brakes at that time. Jan. of 2006, major front brake repair for rust and seizing, and rear brakes seizing, with 23000 km on the clock. From Feb. 2005 had been consistently using the parking brake, when parked. Obviously, with that strategy, no improvement. Would continual brake servicing have helped? Maybe, but at what cost, either way? Will I ever by another Nissan? No.

I really regret to buy this crappy car. I was deceived by its looking at the first glance and didn't look anywhere. Four tires were replaced after 20k miles. Rattled from the first day. Can not slide the left window in the front. Lights inside can not be on or off with the closing or opening of the doors. I will never buy a Nissan again.

5 stars for the 3.5 V6......While shopping for a new car for myself, it came down between the Altima SE V6, and the GTP Grand Prix. I chose the Pontiac because it had more room, better control under throttle(the Altima exhibited a TREMENDOUS amount of torque steer), and the CLEAR advantage in low end torque. But I don't think I would have been disappointed had I purchased this car. In fact, I kinda wished I did sometimes. A fun little throw around, with a great engine and taut suspension.

I bought my 97 Altima in 99, it had only 19,000 miles on it. It now has 98,500 miles on it, and virtually trouble free. I have styled it up a little with 16 inch aluminum wheels, lowered the suspension 1 inch (to remove unwanted gap in wheel wells), and bronze tinted the windows. It is a great everyday driver.

I Love my 1998 Altima, no problems, has 60000 miles. But my gas mileage is terrible. I'm getting 17 mpg and I don't know why. I really would like to get an answer to this because I'm going to the gas station more than I should be. If you have any solutions of suggestions please e-mail me at [email protected]

I got my 1997 Nissan Altima GXE in 1997. I have a minor complaint about road noise but I would imagine it would go away if I hadn't been too lazy/cheap to get it repaired. My biggest complaint is that it got broken into 3 times...I'll share the blame for one instance, maybe two, but I'm convinced that the third time happened because Nissan's, Toyota's and Honda's are targeted for theft. Very low-maintenance vehicle; runs great and gets great gas mileage. If I weren't moving cross-country I'd run her to the ground. Many good times and memories - I will miss you Altima, and may your next owner get as much use out of the back seat!

I got my 1998 Nissan Altima GXE in 2000. This has been the most trouble-free car I have ever owned. The biggest complaint is some road noise, but it is slight compared to some of my other cars. This car has consistently had better gas mileage than the specs stated. And there are so many standard perks on a Nissan; things that you actually have to pay lots of extra money for on other cars. This car could have a little more leg room in the back seat. This Altima has served us well. We will likely drive it until it falls apart, which will be many years to come.

I have had a 2002 Altima for about 2 years now. The transmission is leaking, the brakes are shot, the gas tank does not open, and there is a leak in the seal of the windshield. The dealer gives me nothing but problems when I bring the car in for service, and nothing is ever covered under the warranty. This is my first and last Nissan purchase.

Rented this one for 2 weeks here in Seattle. The v6 is probably nice but I had the 4 cylinder and it was the worst. The ride was rough the seats were uncomfortable and the interior simply looked cheap with absolutely no nice touches. Just reminded me of driving a large basic economy car.

I absolutely LOVE my altima!! When looking for a car, I knew I wanted a good reliable vehicle. I was originally looking for a Toyota Corolla, but I chose the Nissan Altima because of it's smooth ride and luxurious features. I thought the corolla had a rather bland and simple interior. I am very happy with my choice! I hope to have my Altima for a very long time.

My 1996 Altima now has 306,000 miles on it, and I can count the number of repairs (other than routine maintainance) on one hand... actually one finger! I've only had to replace the alternator after about 250,000 miles. The car still has original exhaust, rear brakes, and battery (amazing, considering it's a Minnesota car), and runs like new. The car is solid as a rock, just put gas in it and change the oil regularly. I'm hoping to drive it for another couple of years.

I am very pleased with my 2002 Nissan Altima 2.5s. It has had several problems though, but the dealer was very cooperative, and even went to the extent of lending me a car until my car was fixed. Other cars that I considered was Toyota Camry, which was to slow and cornered ponderously, Honda Accord, which was to small. The 175hp, 180lb, engine is very smooth and peppy. Highly recommended.

Had a rental for a couple of weeks and just loved it. It rode great, and very easy on the pocket book. It also had more luggage room than I exspected. In my 2 weeks of driving this vehicle, I had several people approach me about the car. It surely a head turner. This will be my next car purchase.

Very impressed with our new 2003 Altima. Good looking, roomy, and very comfortable. Rides and handles well. Very peppy 4 cyl. My daughter has a 1994 Altima which has given her great service and still runs great. The 2003 is a bigger, more refined model. If the 2003 holds up like her 1994, we're going to love this car.

The new Altima is a huge redesign over its terrible pre 2002 designs. Its not as refined as Toyota Camry, or Honda Accord, nor as safe as Ford Taurus, but the Altima is an excellent choice. I reccomend the 240hp V-6. The rear lights are great, since the come standard on all models.Consumer Reports reccomends the Altima, but they said 2.5 Altimas have flimsy cheap plastics.

We recently purchased this vehicle. Not only is it a head turner, but it drives like a dream. This is the best vehicle we have purchased in a long time! You can't go wrong with a Nissan. Go test drive one and you will see for yourself!

The new Altima is nothing short of a revelation. I can't think of another automotive "makeover" that has resulted in such a quantum transformation. The exterior styling turns heads and looks good from every angle. Hey, if they had to copy somebody, the Audi A6 was a pretty good source. And who wouldn't be happy with a 240hp V6 purring under the hood? Plus, it remains one of the very few non-German offerings that lets you shift for yourself - something Lexus and Acura are only just figuring out. A recent editon of Motorweek clocked a zero to 60 time of 5.9 seconds with the 5 speed stickshift. This, in an otherwise comfortable, spacious and luxurious family sedan that doesn't cost any more than a Camry. You really can have your cake and eat it too.
