I got my 1998 seadoo back from the shop today. It had to have new starter, flywheel, and drive shaft. I took it right to the lake and got it off the trailer. When I tried to start it it made a noise like it backfired. Then it wouldn't start up and started to feel up with water. I have no idea what could be wrong. Any Ideas?

I have a 2001 GTX. When I push the red start button all I get is a click out of the black box in the rear of the ski. Any thoughts on what it could be? Solenoids? I think there are two in the box with a coil. HELP summer is here. Jim

A friend of mine has a 1988 Sea Do GTX with a Rotex GMBH motor. His problem is that the machine will only start out of the water. Once started and set down into the water it will run but if it stalls it won't restart until the rear end is lifted out of the water. He's had numerous people look at it with not luck. The serial # is ZZNE5269C595 Formula jet pump, mot # NR4431972 type 657X. Does anyone have any ideas ? other than junking the machine.

I have a 2003 Sea Doo GTX. I have 82 hours and most of these hours I have placed on this ski have been at idle speed because the ski keeps breaking down and the oil light comes on. This ski has a sensor that makes the ski only idle so you can at least get back to the dock. I will never buy another GTX. I am now on vacation for 4 weeks and have only had 10 minutes on the water where it actually opened up for fun. I have had in the shop where they sell Sea Doo's three times now and waiting for a call to go and pick up again. They have replaced both oil sensors top and bottom, changed the oil and reset the computer. Come on Sea Doo what are you people thinking!!! This is america where we expect quality not junk! I bought this ski thinking it was the best there is. That is a laugh! The tecks I have spoken to have told me Sea Doo's are nice when they work but they said to go with a Honda or Kawasaki for much better quality and relaability. If you want a good relation with your re... Read more

I have ridden only Sea Doo for eight years. The last Sea Doo, A GTX, a good-looking jet ski, fast enough (61 mph) but don't let these two factors cloud the big picture. I had to take it in for a problem after 3 days and again after fifteen. This went on like this for a year. The worst part of all of this was the shop would look at me like it was my fault. Because I rode only Sea Doo's I didn't know any better. I thought this was just the way jet skis are. This GTX was in the shop for exactly 65% of the time I own the Jet Ski. After only 350 hours it was declared a total loose by my insurance company. It was my insurance company, not the Sea Doo Warranty that paid for the lose. I now ride a Honda F12. I am at 90 hours. I ride hard so I change the oil more than the manual says. The Honda, F12 has never been in the shop for a problem. I have not had one problem with the Honda F12, not one. As everyone keeps saying to me, its a Honda, what did you expect. Honda has figu... Read more

I have a GTX-RFI. I rate it terrible because of build quality and durability. I've had nothing but problems with the ski and it's something different every time. For one, it eats batteries (5 to date), It's had charger problems, oil delivery problems, oil tank welds leak, resonator has blown, Rectifier has blown, and the console buttons push into the steering wheel rather than held in place by whatever SeaDoo uses to attach them. I've had to be towed in twice. It also almost sunk because of a bad seal at the drive shaft. I contacted Seadoo for some goodwill jestures from them and of course they would hear no part of it. This is in spite of some documentation above showing at the dealer as prior warranty problems. SeaDoo makes a nice riding ski, a good looking ski, but I will NEVER buy another. I just bought a new Yamaha FX cruiser and will be replacing the Seadoo with another brand, possilbly Polaris once I've researched it. My suggestion is to stay away from Seadoo p... Read more
