This is a fantastic bookstore. Honestly I can't think of one I've liked better. It has an attic feel to it (a nice and adequately lit attic with high ceilings) and it has the sort of couches and chairs that you might have found in my dorm room circa 1999. I'm referring to the LoDo store, which you can get to via free shuttle that goes up and down 16th street.

This is the only nice indie bookstore in Denver. This was one of my favorite places to getaway from the cold streets of Denver during the winter and relax in a nice warm chair and relieve myself from the world. The selection is great, the atmosphere is cozy, and this two story store is large enough to get lost in. I wish there were more bookstores like this!

The Tattered Cover is one of the most impressive independent bookstores in the country. It is absolutely huge and the staff is astonishingly knowledgable about books in every subject. They seem to always have what you want or need, and the prices are very reasonable. There's a reason this bookstore is rated so high - it's quite a bit like visiting Amazon if Amazon were a physical location. If you're going to Denver, this bookstore in and of itself makes for a good visit.

The Tattered Cover in Lodo at 16th and Blake is very large with everything that a Barnes and Noble has. The bargain floor has some good books that seem under-priced to an extent. Now the bad news, this book-store does not seem to get the author's like it used to. Additionally, The Tattered Cover (I knew somebody who worked at the Tattered Cover) pays employees very bad with few discounts. I think the owner takes advantage of Denver's bad economy with the pay she gives her people.

I've shopped at the Tattered Cover dozens of times over the years and have never had a bad experience, nor have I ever regretted any of my purchases there.

I am a Denver native, and have been going to Tattered Cover my entire life. It is a fantastic store (especially the Cherry Creek location). It's a great place to go and spend an afternoon reading and shopping. They encourage reading with their many couches and comfortable chairs all over the store. They have every book imaginable, and can order anything for you. If you are ever visiting Denver, it is worth a visit!

The Tattered Cover in Denver is the ultimate bookstore. Covering four floors, it has the best selection of any independent bookstore I've seen. The clerks are highly knowledgeable, and they are actually available all over the store to help shoppers (surprise!). The atmosphere is great at the Tattered Cover. On the main level, there's a coffee/dessert bar where you can read and relax, and there are couches and chairs all over the store. The customer service is outstanding, too. I've placed a number of special orders, and I've had items shipped, all with excellent results. The Tattered Cover has an impressive list of guest authors. I've seen Barbara Kingsolver, Bailey White, and Ann Rule there, and the events have been interesting and well-organized. Several years ago, the Tattered Cover added the Fourth Story, a really nice restaurant/bar. It's a great place to go for a meal or drinks. If you're visiting the Tattered Cover for the first time, allow yourself at least two or three hours. ... Read more

Huge, warm, and friendly with a small coffee bar that serves just about anything and very cheap. I have never had a problem with them; my family has been going there for years.

Tattered Cover really is an impressive independent bookstore - maybe the best I've ever seen. The place is huge, with level after level of wall-to-wall books, and the basement is filled with great bargain books. Plus the staff knows far more about books than the staff at any chain store.
