Like other here, I wouldn't rate MCI above 0. I give MCI a -10. Used MCI to call home and was charged $1.85 to over $2.00 a minute. I contacted the FCC and filed a complaint after talking to seven reps at MCI and NONE CALLED BACK or they gave us the runaround. But MCI's reps did offer info along the way that MCI upper echalon reps will not admit is supposed to be standard practice. I was told by the first point of contact and the lady that called herself-the last point of contact with MCI, that we should have been informed of the charges when the call was made. Now that the FCC is involved, MCI says that it was our responsibility to inquire about charges before the call was made AND she doesn't know why her fellow reps at MCI were quoted as saying to us that we should have been informed of the charges at the time of the call. Bottom line, MCI does not have loyalty to consumers and even though the FCC has been notified, they still will not admit that we should have been notif... Read more

Common street criminals with the WORST customer service support of any provider on the planet. Ridiculously overpriced. Having the mob handle your phone service would be preferable. And if you live in India, please don't tell me your name is "Alan".

MCI is notorius for having the least competitive rate and the most complicated contractual terms.

How can such a big company be running a complete scam!! I switched from ATT on the promise of lowering my monthly bill from $45 a month to $39 a month - of course they could not say exactly what the monthly bill would be with taxes and surcharges, but guaranteed it would never exceed $45. Well it has exceeded $45 every month and they continue to raise it every single month. I finally called to request a credit for one month, they granted it - But GET THIS - raised by bill enough the next month to get it all back. If they don't correct this I will go to the Better Business Bureau as well!! Don't even think about using MCI

DO NOT USE MCI!!!!!!!!!! Being new to the country, we had trouble getting long distance with our local carrier. we looked around and found good rates with MCI. Our first clue should have been the fact that the representative we spoke with didn't even know about the plan we had seen. We then made calls using the calling card. Sometimes an operator would cut in to ask what number we were dialing, after we had dialled. I now find out this is an "operator assisted call" and a five minute call to UK costs $22!!!!!! I was apparently supposed to ask the operator about this! Why?! I dialled, they cut in, what a scam! Surprise surprise, a division of Verizon. I think we'll let them sue us for this.

I have never had MCI, but we got daily calls trying to get us to switch. Finally had to threaten legal action to get them to stop. Stay away, far away.

I echo the comments of Eraser1997. When MCI restructured their rate plans, they automatically assigned me to the highest cost plan which had me paying $0.25/min for all of my calls. More recently I found a $25 phone call to a cell number that I don't know to an area where I don't know anyone. The rep I talked to called the number and said that the voice mail box did not identify the holder of the number. Which was a lie. The phone no. was no longer in service, which she conveniently neglected to tell me. Bottomline, they refuse to reimburse me for the call. I plan to change long distance providers.

Could I give MCI a zero, please? I was generally satisfied with MCI's service until one point when they changed their service plans. Rather than using any logic to assign me to a plan which would result in low billing costs, they automatically assigned me to a new plan (running under the same name?!?) which increased my off peak rates 5x and peak rates by 6x. If they had notified me and I had failed to select an appropriate plan, this would have been my fault. However, the first notice I had came with a monthly bill 4x what my normal bill was. After several calls to customer service with no resolution, I was forced to go to the BBB to get a refund from MCI. They have since offered me rates comparable to or ever so slightly lower than my current service, but I refuse to go back to a company with such a poor excuse for customer service.

I have subscribed to MCI for many years and have never had a problem with my service. I especially find their website and Online Account feature to be very helpful. I just log into my account online and pay my bill each month. All of my account information is listed on this site and anytime I have ever sent an e-mail to customer service from this site I have received a reply back within an hour. Not only are they fast, but they have always provided me with answers and have been very helpful. I have used many companies online services because I work with websites and I like to see what other companies have to offer. I have to say that MCI has provided me with the best online experience of all the companies I have ever dealt with. Not only is their website easy to use and full of information, but to receive a response to my e-mail as quickly as I have with MCI is remarkable. I wish all online services worked this well.

They charged me too much every month for making almost no long distance phone calls. So I switched to a company that's not on this website.

My personal experience with MCI has been a disaster. And the extra charges that have been attempted with my family members and friends should be prosecuted.

I like MCI very much. I have there Neighborhood plan. I just want to inform all these ATT lovers and Ma Bell lovers to what they are really up against. If it wasn't for MCI there wouldn't be competition in the Long Distance market AT ALL! MCI was the one that took Ma Bell to court with an anti trust suit and got them split up and started competition. So even though you might be paying 5 cents a minute right now with ATT. You can thank that good rate to MCI since if they hadn't sued ATT youd still be paying the 40 cents + rate that you were before due to lack of competition! Thanks MCI I love you

Oh God, where do I begin. I guess I'll start by saying that MCI has over-charged us 4 times and it's like jumping through hoops of fire to get them to fix it. Two out of the three times they gave us lousy phone cards (worth $50 supposedly, but had only 100 mins.) When we cancelled they said we owed $42 and called non-stop and I mean non-stop like 3-4 calls a day, usually while I was feeding two babies- and the account was only 5 days past due! In the end, they "made a billing error" (always in their favor, strangely enough) and sent us a credit balance. But they were not going to give us the money, they would apply it to our next bill even though we cancelled our service two months ago! I had to call and spend a half-hour getting through and trying to get our money back, some of it which they were trying to keep by saying we were still their customers!!! Customer service is abysmal and nobody has a straightforward answer. I would rather lick the butts of twenty horny monkeys th... Read more

Customer service is horrible. Getting a live rep that actually speaks english and understands how to help you is next to impossible. And when you actually find somebody to speak with they are either inept or powerless. My favorite was when we recived a flyer for unlimited calling (long ditance + local) for $30 a month. What a deal! I asked every question I could think of and finally asked what my monthly charge including all fees and taxes would be. They promised it would be $30. First months bill was $64. Stay away.

They charged me over $2 a minute because they said I never signed up with them and was a "casual" user. It took me over a year to get it straightened out, and then only after complaining to the FCC. No wonder they are having problems!

My experience with MCI has always been great. (Since 1985!) The only time I had a problem with my long distance service was because of my local telephone company switching me. MCI worked quickly and professionally to get my service back up. THANK YOU, MCI for opening up the long distance market!!! Without you, we'd still be subjects of Ma Bell's Monopoly and wouldn't have anyplace to go when we don't like what we're getting!

Last year, I signed up for MCI long distance due to their affiliation with Northwest airlines, and good long distance rates. When I moved away and cancelled my service, I asked if I could keep the accompaning calling card at the same low rates. Upon being told "yes," I kept it and used it. A month later, I expected a $300 phone bill, but instead I got a bill for $1000! After getting the run around all summer, and being told there was nothing I could do about it, I finally called their headquarters where an understanding woman fixed the problem.

MCI has the worst customer service. I have recently switched, but in the time I had them, they lied about credits they would give me for fees they shouldn't have charged, information was inconsistent when I would talk to different employees, and they were usually very, very rude to me. There wasn't a bill I received that I didn't dispute in some way for incorrect charges. How the company has grown so large with such horrendous customer service is a mystery to me.

MCI is the worst long distance provider. I would rather use two cans and a string than give them any business. Let me run through the littany of problems I have had with them. First month after changing my service with them, rate was wrong and it wasn't being charged to my AMEX card (like it had been previously). Second month, exact same problem. Third month, I got an automated phone call saying that I needed to call them about something with respect to my account. The guy didn't repeat the number, so I called the main number. I was on hold for 15 minutes, then was transferred to another group and got disconnected. I called back, got right through to an customer disservice rep who barely spoke English. Tried to speak to a supervisor and remedial English guy transferred me to a number where there was a recording. Anyone know a good long distance company? Now, two months after first writing this, my account still hasn't been cleared up. They say I owe money when I don't, and... Read more

Unfortunately, I fell for MCI WorldCom's come-on and their $75 check. They refused to honor their own check and telephoned me repeatedly about bill. After two threatening letters and five telephone calls and talking to nine different people, I settled the outrageous charges and went back to my original long-distance service. Spokespersons say their computers are to blame for the letters and calls, but their notes in files are never read before a human gets on the telephone line. MCI used to be good, but since WorldCom bought the company, it is horrible.

STOP CALLING ME!! and Stop sending me offers in the mail! In the past two days I have received two promotional offers from MCI if I switch over. Yesterday it was a $50 gift card from Blockbuster. Switching over is fine and easy, it's once I am there that stinks! Very POOR Customer service..varying rates..confusing bill. I'll stick with AT&T.

I realy wonder what is going on with MCI and the wrong rates. I changed my service to them, and found that they too gave me wrong rate. You won't notice it unless you really look into your bill closely. The same thing happened to my brother and some of my friends. Maybe MCI just wants to get easy money from customers who rarely check their phone bill. AT&T is the best. The only reason why I switched is the 5-cents deal. So, if you don't really need the 5-cents rate as I do, then avoid using MCI.
