Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me is a great follow up to Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery . In some senses the film is better the original. Meyers is funnier this time around as Doctor Evil with his one-liners and Verne Troyer is great and steals almost all the scenes as Mini-Me as does Seth Green. A great sequel if you've never seene\ it you're in for a treat.

This movie -- assuming Austin Powers 2 is Austin Powers: Goldmember -- was brilliant. Others may have claimed that the movie has been too obscene or vulgar, but I disagree, seeing as how we're living in 'this' day and age, where 'that' is contemporary comedy, if even the movie's directed toward a specific audience; sorry if what I just said makes no sense -- I'm not up to the review right now. Anyway, one thing that strikes me as odd, in the movie Mini-me switches sides, from evil to good. Dr. Evil, I do suppose, could have cloned another "Mini-me," but the writers chose another route, which was: instead of Dr. Evil continuing to hate Scott, he fostered his real son, and chose to forget his mini-me. What shape would the path of the story have taken if another mini-me was cloned? Anyway, enough ramble-and-rant, fathom and ponder. I think it was a brilliant movie. A five out of five.

I've seen all three movies in the Austin Powers series and The Spy Who Shagged Me is probably my favorite. With over the top jokes and quirky characters, what's not to love? For those who don't know the general storyline of the Austin Powers series, here's a brief synopsis. Austin Powers, played by Mike Myers, is a man stuck in the 60's. He's really not that good looking (in fact, I think I could even say that he's borderline disgusting) but women love him anyway. The reason? His irresistible mojo. In The Spy Who Shagged Me, Austin's mojo is missing. His goal is to find his mojo as well as attempt to stop his nemesis, Dr. Evil, from blowing up the world. Let's talk about the positives first. As I said above, the jokes are over the top but completely funny. The jokes are childish but that's what makes them funny. Second, each character is funny in their own way. Dr. Evil and Mini-Me are my absolute favorites. Dr. Evil tries way too hard to be "evil" but comes off as silly. Mini-Me... Read more

i was very disappointed in some of the ridiculous plot twists. and esp that Vanessa was only a fembot, and then Basil says "i knew all along". i'm like what? and then austin is like, oh i cant believe i was going to be a one woman man for a fembot! what great news, i'm single again! is that all he cared about her. holy ****. i didnt like the really really ridiculous plot, creativiity goes low. but yes it was still funny. almost as much as the original. if you liked the original. you should still enjoy this one.

I enjoy all the Austin Powers movies but all of them take vulgarity to new heights. I think Mike Meyers is a brilliant guy and could be even funnier if he could tone down the filth just a few notches. Fat Bastard was disgusting (and funny) and I found it hard to believe it was Mike Meyers under all that makeup. One star knocked off for being overly gross.

Having not been that thrilled with the first Austin Powers movie, I was completely surprised that I giggled all the way through this one. Maybe it was because the female lead is Austin's equal in the free love game. Maybe just because I have loved Micheal York since I was a young teenager and he was in The Three Musketeers. Maybe because Fat Bastard just cracked me up. Ditto for Mini-Me. Or that I finally 'got' Dr. Evil. Whatever it was, I loved this silly story. You have to be in the right mood for it to hit you the right way, I think, but if you're in that mood, this is a funny movie.

The first Austin Powers was amusing but slight--an extended Saturday Night Live sketch. The success of that movie paved the way for this--perhaps the unfunniest movie of the 1990s. I wanted to squash Mini Me the first moment I saw him. Endless mugging and overacting.

I really enjoyed the first one but as much as I like Austin Powers I hated 2. It was not really very funny with a lot of bathroom humor, more so than the first. One spy spoof was enough Mike look for some thing new. I have not seen 3 yet but it looked about the same stuff re-hashed. Update: I have seen 3 and I was right.

This second movie was even better than the first! Mike Myers is just as funny as Austin Powers, and Heather Graham is groovy as his 60's love interest!

Most of the jokes here are simply taken in some form or another from the first film. Very few truly funny moments here. Substandard at best.

Saw this movie with great anticipation and was really really disappointed. Only laughed out loud once during the entire movie. The rest of the movie theater was dead quiet and several people left before it was over. Mini me sucks and was a bad idea. Fat bastard was the only remotely funny part of the movie. does not hold a candle to the original.

This movie is great the first time you see it. It's not nearly as good after that but I won't ever forget how much the whole theater was laughing when I saw it for the first time.

usually sequels aren't as funny or as good as the original. Austin Powers 2 is an exception. The inclusion of characters such as Fat Bastard are hilarious and even though some of the sight gags are a little stale, the movie is quite funny.

Released in 1999 and directed by Jay Roach, Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me is a sequel in its purest sense, namely it essentially recycles the same gags and jokes from the first movie. This time our hero Austin Powers (Mike Myers) travels back in time to the 1960's to retrieve his mojo (the aura that makes him irresistible to women and effective as a spy) which has been stolen by his nemesis Dr. Evil (Mike Myers). Powers is aided by American agent Felicity Shagwell (Heather Graham) while Dr. Evil has Number Two (Robert Wagner/Rob Lowe), a cloned, pint-sized version of himself, Mini-Me (Verne Troyer), and Fat Bastard (Mike Myers). While the first Austin Powers film at least was somewhat imaginative, this sequel suffers from repetition of the humor from the first instalment. Moreover, the comedy is more gross and bathroom oriented, especially the Fat Bastard scenes. While this may appeal to many and can work in smaller doses, too much can ruin a script as it does with Austin ... Read more

I really, really, really hate it when bad movies get a sequel and good ones don't. Austin Powers is a fool and so are the writers of this lowbrow, moronic comedy. I don't understand the appeal of this movie. The jokes are gross and what I call under-the-top, which means the situation is not played up for comedy in a clean way and resorts to the garbage can instead. Don't watch it.

Just as funny as the original, this totally cracked me up. Dr. Evil is absolutely hilarious, Fat Bastard - - what a name! And Austin Powers himself. Man is this funny. Mike Myers will prove to be the new great comedian. I eagerly await the third installment - - Goldmember. I hope Mike Myers doesn't ruin it, but I doubt it. Just don't do any, or much, fart jokes. See this. Summary: JUST AS FUNNY AS THE ORIGINAL, HILARIOUS.

I trully can't believe this film was so popular. Even from the previews I could tell the jokes were purely sickening and just not funny. You would think they would learn their lesson after the first one.

Wanted to really like it but after having seen it once I couldn't say that I did. There was no pace to the movie and the scenes did not seem connected i.e. a poor, loose plot. It relied on its funnier predecessor to generate the majority of the jokes and therefore the film lacked real impact. My one caveat is that I have seen the first film a number of times and you do notice more of the gags so maybe it could be the same with this film but I wouldn't go mad for this in general.

Yep, even though I did not care for the first one, I bought what many people were saying (It's even BETTER than the first one!) and rented this one too. For me better wasn't going to really take much so I figured they had a shot at it. Also, on some level, I wanted to give it another chance because I thought I really MUST have been missing something. Well, there may have been a few more laughs but they still didn't convince me this film deserved the praise and enormous success it immediately reaped. That missing something just never managed to completely reveal itself to me.

Austin Powers 2: The Spy Who Shagged Me is only for die-hard fans of the original. Without the charming taste of Elizabeth Hurley, the character of Austin Powers is unfunny and extremly annoying. Instead of Hurley, we get Heather Graham who is a beauty, but can't act for the birds. Mike Myers gives his usual performence as the spy, Austin Powers who has to once again save the world from Dr. Evil.
