ALERT!!!

Be aware that Proactiv Advertising is a HUGE CON.

The treatment isn't what it's cracked up to be, if anything it makes the skin worse.
Celeberities probably don't even use this crap, it even BURNS your skin when applying it.

The customer service representitives via telephone appear to be paid to confuse you about your purchases. At the end of it all you have to resign yourself to the fact that it's a HORRIBLE product and that you WILL be ripped off!

I wish I NEVER had ordered it! Putting this one down to a VERY bad experience.

I saw the commercial and was hoping it would clear up my mild acne, but after a few days of using it my skin actually got worse, I started getting more pimples and bumps, and got frustrated so I just threw it away. Now I'm using a regular bar of soap (Jergens) to wash my face and moisturizing with Lotion.

Exactly 4 days ago I placed an order on the proactive website. I paid extra for overnight shipping and I paid with pay pal. I was told I will be receiving a confirmation email after I paid for the order, but I never did. When I try to log onto the website it says that email address is not registered on the website. I was provided an order number when I placed the order, but I did not save it. I contacted proactive customer service to cancel my order, but I was told that they can not cancel my order even though it hasn't been shipped. That is not true! I work for an online company and you can very well easly cancel an order anytime you want. you can even have the package returned back to you if it is shipped out. Before they even searched for my order they said a cancelation is not possible. And when I gave my information they said they can not even find my order. I was also told by a customer service representative to place a new order and pay again this time with credit card. So they wanted me to pay TWICE for something I was not receiving! And they weren't even refunding the pay pal payment! The reason I wanted to cancel my order was because I read so many horrible reviews about the products and because of how long the process was taking. I paid extra for overnight shipping, it has been 4 days. They can not find my order but they took my payment. Be very cautious before buying from them!

I ordered a kit through proactive about a year ago for a girl I used to babysit. Well I didn't know at the time, but I was put on a subscription. Where they kept sending me kits and charging my card everytime. Well I called them and had to cancel twice and they ended up sending another kit. I am a busy person, so by the time I got to send back the kits to get a refund they stated to me (after I sent them) that I had sent them too late and I would not receive a refund. I was very angry and made sure they absolutely canceled my account. I also told them, since I paid for the items and sent them back that they needed to send them back to me again, as I had nothing to show for the money I paid out. They sent me 2 very small kits, nothing like what I paid for. But I was so over proactive that I just dealt with it. Well every month since then (it's been almost a year), I have gotten a letter in the mail from them stating that I owe them 30.00!! and everytime I call them about it they say well you have no balance on our records, we don't know why you are still receiving a letter. I'm afraid it's going to affect my credit. They really need to get their crap together and stop scamming people. If they have such a great product then why is there a need to scam people into automatically signing them up for a subscription. It should be clearly stated to the customer so they completely understand that their credit cards will be billed.

OMG! MY SKIN IS BEING DESTROYED!!! I absolutely HATE proactiv. My twin sister and I had pimples ever since we were 14. One day we were trapped into this s*** commercials where they said all the celebrities (Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, Abril Lavine???) got paid to say proactiv worked. We were so excited to get the product. My skin is not sensitive at all, in fact, it is extremely insensitive that whatever I tried on my face, it wouldnt show any side effects. I put this crap on my face and next morning, I woke up with absolutely monster looking eyes that were swollen up and redness and dryness, roughness on both of my cheeks. I LITERALLY LOOKED LIKE I WAS PUNCHED IN THE FACE HUNDRED TIMES! It was that bad. It was so terrible that my teacher at school sent me to the nurse's office to go home. At night, my parents were horrified to see us suffering from that shit. I HATE PROACTIV. WHy do they lie about their product that it will improve skin? THANKS ALOT, IT COMPLETELY RUINED MY FACE, MY CONFIDENCE, I am even angry at my sister who suggested first to try out that shit. DO NOT PUT THIS SHIT ON YOUR BEAUTIFUL FACE!! IT WILL ONLY WORSEN IT AND YOUR SKIN IS AT LEAST NORMAL WITHOUT IT! I want to meet those Rodan and Fields BITCHES and slap them in the face. I WANT TO ASK IF THEY HAVE TRIED IT! I can hardly open my eyes right now. And it looks like many people got mad at this shit too. I have school tomorrow. and I have two tests. I cant even CONCENTRATE on my homework right now so PROACTIV, GO F*** YOURSELF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I bought Proactiv prior to my wedding, thinking it would clear up some moderate, stress related acne I have had off and on since I had my daughter in 2006. I never had it as a teenager, I suppose I just do things backwards.
Well...I tried the product, once daily, for the next week and noticed a dramatic DECLINE in the quality of my skin. I see from other reviewers that I am not the only one. My skin was dry, red, cracked, painful, itchy...everything you do NOT want your face to look like just three weeks prior to your wedding. After using the product only once a day for a week, I had to completely quit it and waited the next couple of weeks hoping and hoping that I wouldn't look like a dried out tomato for my beach wedding. The product made my skin EXTREMELY sensitive to the sun, even with 50 sunblock on my face, two weeks AFTER stopping use of the product. I have NEVER used a product that did that to me prior to this.
And let me mention that I do not have sensitive skin, at least I didn't prior to using Proactiv.

The icing on the cake is that this company is a scam. I called after I ordered initially, and waited on hold for twenty minutes to let a representative know that I wanted to cancel the product shipments. The representative told me that I could cancel the shipments, but I still had a balance of nearly $90.00 on my account, and asked how I was planning to pay that. I told him that this information was NEVER disclosed to me. I even offered to email him the receipts I had received. I knew about the auto ship, but $120 for an item that I was told would be installments of $19.99 plus shipping IF I chose to continue shipments...WHAT? I told him that that was absolutely insane. He told me to return the initial product and he would stop charges to my account, which I did. Three weeks later, another charge on my account $39.94 this time, overdrawing my bank account. I sent the company a long email detailing what the product had done to my skin, and telling them that I returned the initial shipment. A representative emailed me back quickly, trying to sell the product to me all over again, which just made me want to rip my hair out. She did, at the end of the email, say that she would stop charges to my bank account. Now I have heard this twice, this time in WRITING. I shipped back the second box and thought it was over. Well, in mid-April I received a charge on my account for $49.95 (the charges seem to be getting bigger) which I clearly did NOT authorize, and I'm ready to go to be Better Business Bureau. I will wait for the product to arrive (yes, I was charged half a month ago, for a product I never authorized, and have yet to receive anything from them, which seems a bit like theft.) and figure out if some action can be taken against them with the BBB. Talking to representatives has done absolutely nothing to help. I'm disgusted.

The fact that the product doesn't work, and actually may have caused harm to my skin, combined with the absolutely atrocious business practices of this company make it a lose-lose in my mind. I would not recommend this product to anyone, but if you INSIST on trying it, go through another source like the Made For TV store so you cannot be scammed by the company. I learned my lesson. Proactiv has ruined online ordering from large companies for me. I will not make that mistake again. Thanks Proactiv!

Proactiv is not worth the hype. I have normal to dry skin and very few products dry out my skin, including prescription strength acne medicine, but this one dryed my skin out and made it flakey even with moisturizer. I could have dealt with the dry skin if it cleared my acne but it didn't. I would not recomment this system to anyone.

ProActive is NOT a scam!! It is a lovely product that helps my little brother with his pimples. He is 16 and at that stage where his face is very important. (he loves the attention of the girls) When i first ordered it for him online i READ everything on the website especially when i was placing my order. I agreed to the 29.95 per month with 9.99 s/h for future shipments. The trial kit that we first had was way to harsh for his skin. So i was ready to cancel but when i called customer service they informed me about the other formulas that they offered to "perfered customers", one was the extra strength(well i knew that one would not work due to what was goin on with my brothers face). I told her that one is definately not for him. then she proceeded to tell me about the Gentle formula, she said that this is for persons with sensitve skin and/or alergic to benzol peroxide. She also said that she would send him a FREE trial size amount to see if he likes it. NOW that is great customer service. He tried that one and loved it. His skin did get worse before it got better. he has been using it for 6 months now and has skin as smooth as a baby's butt!!! GO ProActiv!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wish I would have seen this site before ordering ProActive! I had looked at the reviews on the ProActive site, but obviously only the positives were provided, with only a couple negatives to make it realistic.

My 12 year old son has acne on his face and back. After trying other over the counter products, I conceded to try ProActive. It has done nothing for his acne. It is just as bad as the day we started using the product.

Calling the company and explaining the situation, I discovered that my purchase was an "installment" for only one purchase of the 3 step program with a total of $68. I was agast! This is not stated on the paperwork. I even looked back over it. It is extremely mis-leading. Not only that, I've been billed and yet the product has not arrived - over 10 days after the charge was placed on my credit card.

The call came tumbling down at this point, and reality hit. I want to mention that I wasn't greeted with a "Hello." Instead the first I heard was an operater telling me that he was finishing up from the last customer and only had a specified amount of time to talk with me - this was after I was on hold for well over 5 minutes. And when I discovered the "installment plan" for purchases he would no longer listen to me and cut me off and hung up.

After reading reviews on this site and others, I'm now worried about what will happen. I too was told to return the product when it arrives and then the "credit process would begin." I've also done more research and found out that the product, "Benzoyl Peroxide," is not a safe product. I don't know what I will do for my son's acne, but I want to get the word out about the scam Proactive has going.

Proactiv Solution 1

My recent experience with Proactiv has prompted me to express my absolute disgust in this company.

First of all, the Proactiv did not work on my skin at all, in fact my skin condition actually worsened. Proactiv contains no secret acne-fighting ingredients, just benzoyl peroxide-a chemical found in most conventional acne medications. Obviously, this prompted me to cancel my proactiv (the company enrolls you in a auto-renewal program as you make your first order), and I did so by calling their customer service.

The first call to customer service was horrendous on its own (19mins33secs to cancel?), as for some reason I was referred to a "skin-care specialist," who resembled a saleswoman more than any type of specialist. She keep trying to push on me a "sensitive skin formula" and insisted the extra pimples Proactiv gave me were just those trapped beneath my skin (right, they were surface whiteheads and immediately after I stopped using Proactiv they went away). Long story short, the proactiv representative assured me that I would not be charged anything more than my initial payment.

Fast forward to today, when I realized I had been charged $40 for a new shipment of proactive 12 days after I canceled (to be fair the order supposedly shipped six days after I canceled, but this is still incompetent). So I call proactiv again, and the lady I spoke with told me that I called on the 23rd when I really called on the 11th (I never called at all on the 23rd) and I asked if I could return the product and be credited back what I wrongfully was charged. She said I could return to sender but would still be charged 9.99 S/H. At this point I started to get rude, but this is expected as Proactiv is in the wrong here. I asked to speak with a supervisor, he said the same thing and insisted I never called on the 11th (which when I checked my phone records the call was there), but instead on the 23rd. Eventually, he hung up on me instead of attempting to resolve the situation. I called again a few minutes later with all my information prepared and the man I spoke to this time acknowledged that I called on the 11th and agreed to refund the charges.

Proactiv summary:
Product Quality: Worked terrible for me caused breakouts, made acne condition worse
Customer Service: Shady, and rude

I went off my birth control pills about a year ago when my husband & I started trying to concieve a child. I began to get more & more pimples on my face as the year drug on but here lately it has been just plain ridiculous! I looked into getting Proactiv on the internet but after reading about how much it was & how they would reaccuringly bill you & send you more- wether you were out or not, I was immediantly hesistant & just wasn't up for the commitment.
About a week ago my husband & I were at the mall when we stubbled across a Proactiv vending machine. You can choose from the kits or any individual treatment you need with no hidden fees!
I got the 60 days 3 step treatment kit with the refining mask. It burned my face at first but I think that was just because i was scrubbing a little too hard with the exfoliating cream (step 1) because once I started gently cleaning my face I haven't had a problem with the burning.
It's only been a week but I can already tell a difference & my face just feels better in general.
Worth the money now that I can refill when I feel I need more! :)

Proactiv Solution 4

I recently started taking depo provera so my skin started breaking out really bad because of the hormones. So I thought I would give Proactive a try. I HIGHLY suggest purchasing this at a mall or they even have vending machines with it now. That avoids the scamming I keep hearing about. I just bought the 30 day trial for around $27 dollars. I've been using it for about 3 weeks now (sparingy!) so I still have at least a month's worth left. The 1st 2 weeks were awful! It made my acne itch REALLY bad so I'd have to use a cold compress to keep from scratching. It seemed like more acne appeared than disappeared so I was getting discouraged. But after those 1st 2 weeks I saw stubborn acne finally disappearing (with use of the mask overnight). The mask is not a miracle cream like it advertises but it works pretty well.

The only negative thing is now I have these really dark areas (hyperpigmentation) around my mouth which is really unattractive. So even though it cleared up the acne in that area it left those unsightly dark patches. I plan to see a dermatologist for all the things Proactive didn't do (or did, that was unexpected), but I don't feel like I wasted my $27 at all. My forehead hasn't been this clear since I was a teenager and the exfoliating wash has faded some of my dark spots a little. I wouldn't reccommend giving them your credit card info over the phone or internet, but if you see it in the mall and have cash I would definitely give it a try.

The worst experience ever, order the product for 19.95, tell them I do not want anything else, no vitamins, no extended contract, I just want to see if it works and if it works I will order more, I probably said this 3 times during our lengthy conversation of them trying to sell me items. well I just received the vitamins, an oh guess what I just had money taken out of my account for the 90 supply, oh and I cannot cancel it because they claim they already shipped it. and by the way I never received any notifications at all. CAN YOU SAY RIP OFF, BUYER BEWARE, STAY AWAY

I ordered this online as a gift for my 12 year old daughter. I didn't realize that I had joined a membership or agreed to future purchase commitments (not used to looking out for this when buying items!). Two weeks after giving her the Proactiv, my account was charged another $40. I called and canceled the membership and was told to send the item back when I received it. Three weeks later, the shipment I had already been charged for came, but by then my account had been charged AGAIN! I was told it would take 4-6 weeks to process each return and would still pay $20 for shipping and handling! RIP OFF! If you buy this, do it over the phone, and make sure you don't agree to future purchases if you don't want them!!

Bottom Line:
-Process was time consuming and confusing to my 12 year old daughter
-Her results were minimal
- My personal experience dealing with this company was extremely negative and time consuming. In my opinion their actions were fraudulent, and there was nothing I could do about it!

I ordered Proactive products one month ago after seeing commercial on TV. It didn't work as advertised on medias. Like many other cusmetic companies, Proactive spend too much of its money on advertisments instead of product research. If you read its product ingredients, you would notice they are the same as many other much cheaper prodcuts sold at Wallgreen.

In addtion, when you buy their promotion trial based products, you better watch out if you accidentally sign yourself in with its monthly membership program.

It's hard to be witty when your face feels like shoe leather. Make that BUMPY shoe leather, with a side of Crypt Keeper thrown in for good measure.
In a nutshell, Proactiv is a huge dissapointment, both in its advertising campaigns and in the actual products themselves. I am a 31 year old female, who has suffered bouts of moderate to severe acne from the age of 15, up to and including presently. Birth control pills cleared me completely for about 6 years, but I developed some digestive issues that were linked to the pill, and have not been taking them for 3 months.
My face recently began breaking out, and I decided to give Proactiv another try; I used the products 4 years ago, and had limited success with them, before going back on the birth control pill.
I am VERY sorry I gave this garbage another chance. Not only was it terribly ineffective at clearing my blemishes, it actually worsened the condition, creating more acne in places on my face that were heretofore clean and clear. To add insult to painful injury, my once soft and young looking skin ( I am in my thirties, and I am often mistaken for a teenager) is now incredibly dry, dull, rough, and flaky. I have even seen wrinkles around my lower eye area, which is not an area of my face any of the products have been purposefully applied. The green tea moisturizer supplied as a sample in the kit I purchased ( thank the Goddess I didn't buy online with my bank card!) has yet to help combat any of the harsh, drying effects of the three part system.
The mask is malodorous, and only dried my skin out further, with no effect on my pimples whatsoever.

I am at a loss as to what to do with my damaged skin at this point. My sister suggested seeing a skin care specialist at a spa she frequents, to possibly offset some of the premature aging damage inflicted by these so called miracle products.

I have never been one to buy something that a celebrity endorses, however, I am reading that quite a few people HAVE bought Proactiv based on its clever advertising, and I find it disturbing that a company plays on emotions, and uses icons of beauty to tout a product that actually HARMS rather than heals! Those celebs have much greater resources than the average individual, and have been paid mega-bucks to make false claims that offers even more false hope to people who are suffering from a disfiguring, self-esteem killing condition.

Horrible Horrible Horrible!!! Does not work AT ALL. If anything it makes it much worse, and dries your skin terribly. Not to mention THE WORST customer service I have ever dealt with before. They give you free samples, and then on the next order they charge you for your "free samples" for a wopping 90 bucks. But as advertised it's only 29.95?!?!? Really? Read the fine print I guess......? Apparently, they charge installments.....BUT never tell you about it! It's a huge scheme to get your money. And when you call customer service, be prepared to talk to condescending, rude people. Even IF it did work, maybe and that's a big maybe, for 1% of the "millions" of people who have bought it, the customer service alone would make me not want to purchase this product. I am a firm believer if you pay for something, you should be treated with respect from who ever you purchase it from, not a piece of s***. Soooo, a word to the wise. Stay far far away and save yourself the money and aggravation...

Okay so I am one of those people that bases my purchases off of other peoples reviews. The $19.99 is a bunch of crap. That is the price or one month. For a three month package it is over one-hundred dollars and not worth it. I thought I would buy it because everyone claimed how "amazing" it was. To be completely honest, I am seventeen and I have had acne since I was around fourteen. I have literally tried everything. Clean and clear(cheap), zeno(false advertising, almost as bad as proactiv, then Proactive, acne free, and none worked. When I went to the dermatologist, she recommended Retina, which I have been on for five months, and it cleared up some, but now all. Now I am going to order Paula's Choice, and try it. From one person to another, Proactiv works for some people, and maybe it could work for you. But for me, it dried out my skin so badly. It is expensive and not worth it!

Its a SCAM!!!!!! Don`t get into their trap. They are going to charge you extra money. The offer of $19.99 is a hook. They make money out of you. Girls, these celebrities get money to endorse a product. Also a very important thing to remeber when you are returning any of their package, ask the post office to put a receive confirmation on it. As they will after few months will send you a bill for one shippment not returned yet even if you have cancelled your account.
BEAWARE OF PROACTIVE!! IT MAKES YOUR SKIN TOO DRY AND YOU END UP PAYING FOR SOMETHING YOU DID`NT EVEN USED

I can't tell you how excited I was to receive Proactiv in the mail at the end of the summer. I was sure this amazing product would finally clear my face as it says it will on the commercials. Note that I had light to moderate acne before beginning Proactiv. So, I immediately started to use it just as directed. It is an annoyingly extensive process, and if you want to use the moisturizer or face mask, it takes even longer--upward of fifteen minutes altogether. But I was willing to do anything to get rid of those red bumps on my face, which at the time, weren't too bad.

The first few weeks were okay--my skin pretty much stayed the same. I was hoping the product would begin working. But after about one month, the bumps were becoming more noticable, larger, and my skin was becoming very dry. But that was okay--it is supposed to "bring out the acne you've had for a long time" and then start "preventing" new acne from forming. I also noticed a disgusting smell that would occur when I would be outside in sunlight. The smell eventually got on everything after only about one or two months--like my pillow and clothes. It is like a burning smell. My face was extremely bumpy in places it had NEVER been before, and every area of my face was breaking out. THAT had never happened before. My face was ridiculously dry, and large, white pieces of skin were all over. In the last few weeks of using this garbage, I was putting on layers and layers of "moisturizer" a day, trying to keep my face soft. I finally decided, about three months after using Proactiv, to STOP. It was getting progressively WORSE every day. When the jackoffs at Proactiv asked why I was canceling, I said the product made my face WORSE than ever, and they cancelled it. About 200-300 dollars total--wasted.

Guthy-Renker is a corrupt company that sells products that will really destroy your face. Proactiv is the SINGLE WORST THING YOU CAN DO TO YOUR FACE, and I truly believe it does not work for ANYONE, except maybe Justin Bieber, who had no acne at all before starting Proactiv. Every time I see a commercial for this disgusting product, I get very angry. "What is the proof that it works? Millions of people have bought it! It's the number one acne system in the world!" But does that mean it works? NO. They fail to mention how many people cancel their orders after beginning this crap. My guess would be nearly 100%. I would like to meet Doctors Rodan and Fields and slap them across the face. What a couple of corrupt, supercilious idiots that are swimming in money. If they used this terrible product, we would know.

Save yourself the time and money and simply buy a $19.99 acne system at your local store. ANYTHING, even gasoline, would work better than Proactiv. This company should be sued and be taken down. It's bizarre that you could sell this crap, run tons of ads about how good it is, and then have it be the worst product in the world. Only cruel, demented individuals like Guthy-Renker could affect people's self-esteems so much.

GOOD RIDDANCE.

I followed the steps giving and i had washed my face a couple times before,it started to burn and my face was red.I had people staring at my face because it was so red,i got a damped towel n put it on my face so the burning feeling would go away, haha it was pretty embarrassing.Something that I've noticed is how i have less pimples i believe this really works but it has this problem that it dries my face,I'm afraid to put lotion on because i don't wan't it to burn anymore. :) After i wash it my face feels smooth except that time it burnt my face.Well i think Proactiv is good, but it doesn't work the same for everybody. You shouldn't listen to the bad reviews people give because some of them are not right, give proactiv a try and see if it works for you.

Don't bother. If you order it over the phone it's an absolute nightmare. They charge you every month automatically. In addition to that, they send you a "3 month supply" and then charge you 30 bucks for the next 3 months. Getting them to cancel it is obnoxious. They say it's already shipped but then you don't see the product for another week and a half. It's not a horrible prodcut but it's no miracle working product, so just take yourself to a local CVS and make your one time purchase and save yourself a 4 month long headache.

I bought this for my husband who had some light acne along his hair line. Not only did it not work at all after using it for 3 months but the company charged me several times for the same order! It's been 6 months and every time I call they claim a check will be in the mail in a few days. THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF. Stay away from this company!

My wife started receiving this product without ordering it -- even though she is in her 60's and never had acne. Apparently someone stole her credit card information and charged it to her credit card without her knowledge. And, when my wife called the company to tell them about the problem, they threatened to send a debt collector! Very suspicious!

I usually use ProActiv, but I wanted to try something new which was healthier with less chemicals. I read bad reviews of all the harmful chemicals in proactive. My mother who is in her 60's and looks like she is in her 30's, recommended Made from Earth.

I have a bit of adult acne and she recommended the Made from Earth Grapefruit Glycolic Scrub, and it works just as well as ProActiv. I used it for a couple of days, and saw results right away. Overall, my skin looks much better than before I used it. I didnt use any of their moisturizers but I would recommend the Grapefruit Glycolic Scrub.

I ordered ONE BOX of Proactive through the website. Apparently they decided that they would charge me not only for THIS box, but also for a second box which they failed to even tell me they were sending me. The second month I received a box saying "FREE GIFT INSIDE" but it turned out that it was just another box of what I had ordered the first month (which, btw, i did not even see great results from). I went to check my account online and saw that they had CHARGED my bank account for the second box without 1. asking 2. notifying me in any way. They then informed me that I would be charged for the next TWO months (because they decided to divide the second box into payments of three months). I was not asked or informed in ANY way. When I called customer service to cancel, they told me that I would have to send the box back (even though I didn't even ask for it to be sent to me). AND that they could not reimburse me for the month's payment OR stop the next two months' payments.. because it apparently takes up to SIX weeks to process my return. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THE WORST COMPANY I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH. thanks proactiv

WHAT A RIPOFF!!! Not only did it not work it did not get rid of one pimple. They charge you a fortune and when you try to get some recourse you get horrendous and disrespectful customer service. I don't give a rat's pitooty what the celebrities say. I guess if you are getting it for free to promote it and are getting paid you will say anything. I gave it one start because it wouldn't post this otherwise they would get minus stars.

The product itself is nothing special and I've found that it tends to dry out my skin. Trying to order just what you need without getting sucked into an automatic shipment trap that is very difficult to cancel was nearly an exercise in insanity. There are plenty of other products out there that do the exact same thing without all of the hassle.

I guess if you've tried other products and nothing else has worked for you, it might be worth giving it a shot. For me personally, I want to do business with a company that values me as a customer and not just the ability to automatically charge my card every month.

If I purchase a product and get good results from it, I'm more than happy to sign up for monthly shipments but I should have the option. Hopefully other have had a good experience with the product but unfortunately, I have to give it a thumbs down.

Do NOT GIVE THIS COMPANY YOUR CREDIT CARD NUMBER OR YOUR BANK ACCOUNT INFORMATION! When I tried to cancel the auto shipments (for the THIRD time!) they told me another shipment had already gone out and that I could return it for a full refund. The shipment never came! I sent them two notices in writng that the shipment never arrived. Bills kept coming. Now I am threatened with collections! I talked to one of their in house representatives and he basically told me that it had been over 6 months and there was nothing he could do (but he could send me more product if I would just pay the bill!!) I was so outraged, I told him that I do not want this product, I want them to credit my account for the product I had cancelled, which they then shipped anyway and which never arrived! I will not give them another dime of my money! He was so rude and sarcastic to me. I have never dealt with such an unprofessional company in my life. I have filed a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau and suggest that everyone who has billing issues (read this site, there are SO MANY!!) do the same! This company deserves a NO STAR RATING - ONE STAR IS TOO HIGH!

Don't ever do business with this company. It is one big scam. I canceled my account with them and they still kept charging my credit card. Then they wouldn't refund me the money - I had to pay to have stuff shipped back to them - stuff I hadn't even ordered. It is a total rip off .... and the product didn't even work.

Hi! I have been working as a Clinique conultant and they have a blemish 3-step set that I have seen work saying that Proactive seems to be doing the same thing, haven't tried it tough. Had one customer who's said it didn't do much from her, but it differs depending on hormones and the severity of the blemishes..I gues it's all about trying it yourself and anything but pimples is better to try then nothing? http://www.hotcakefashion.com

It takes an act of God to get your account closed. And then they still send you mailings and call you. You have to have "proof" that you sent their products back to them to get a refund and then they do not reimburse for shipping. I canceled my membership and they still sent me product. I had to call them twice to get the refund on the shipping. Very frustrating that I have to call them multiple times.

Do NOT sign up for Proactiv; this company has the worst customer service I have ever dealt with. I initially tried Proactiv several years ago but ran into the problem of them billing my credit card randomly and even though I had been billed, I may or may not have gotten the product they supposedly shipped. I eventually cancelled the subscription. A couple of months ago I got a "Welcome Back" offer that said I would get to choose my shipment date, etc, which I thought meant I GOT TO CHOOSE MY SHIPMENT DATE. Silly me. So, apparently having forgotten the problems the first time, I signed up again. I got the trial offer for $9.99 and thought that was it, but a couple of weeks later, my credit card was charged $19.99 and I got another shipment in the mail. I was very upset and called customer service and after voicing my complaints and going back and forth, they eventually agreed to cancel my membership and credit the amount back to my credit card after I returned the product, which I did. Then last week I got a bill in the mail for $26.60 which I called customer service about. They said the amount was the "other half" of the original payment amount and they would keep sending the bill until I paid it. I said I had shipped the product back which was all I understood I had to do per previous contact with customer service. The lady said they never got the returned product (conviently) and there was nothing they could do except send me another order at no cost, and I would still have to pay the $26.60. I said absolutely not, I didn't want anything to do with Proactiv. We went back and forth for some time and I eventually just stopped talking. She then said she would "talk to her supervisor to get a special override." After about 5 seconds off the phone, she came back and said she would do a "one-time" refund of the $19.99 and would cancel the remaining balance. So, we'll see what happens--I'm not really convinced this is the end of it.

Please do not fall into this trap. And, if you already have and are having problems, just keep at it. Don't take no for an answer. This company needs to be stopped!

proactiv did WAY more harm to my skin than it helped. the one positive mark i can give them is for the green tea moisturizer. it's non-greaxy, smells good, and helped a little with the devastating dryness that occurred when i was slathering benzoyl peroxide on my face twice daily. i still use my tiny sample size moisturizer on its own when i travel if i don't want to lug around my awesome mary kay velocity moisturizer that i've been using since i was a teenager (i'm 25). proactiv changed the condition of my skin and the type of acne i was getting. before proactiv i had occasional (but very annoying) papule breakouts, and since using proactiv i have chronic pustules on my jaw. i have not used proactiv for about 2 months and have since seen a dermatologist and now use almost $1000 worth of prescription acne medication to attempt to clear up the damage proactiv did to my face. thanks a lot to vanessa williams, julianne hough, katy perry, jessica simpson, jenna fischer, p diddy, justin effing beiber, and anyone else considered a role model (who have clearly never actually used this crap) for giving shit advice to people who need real help.

DO NOT APPLY FOR MEMBERSHIP! It didn't work for me either. AND like others same story, I cancelled my membership and another shipment was sent out. I refused the mail and sent it back. A month later I got a bill in the mail for it so I called and they said they received the return. Still I kept getting a bill for it. I finally called again and the gal that answered said they have no record that they received it back and that there were no record that I ever called to verify that it was received. So I asked to be transferred to a supervisor who told me that they DID receive the return but that they got three days past the cut off date! (How convenient!) After which, she ranted the company return policy all in one breath not giving me a chance to ask or say anything. She then said the only option was to pay the $68 and then they will send me another kit. I told her I didn't want the kit as I have no use for it. She said "well you could give it away as a Christmas gift?" (And that in itself would be a cruel gift) I asked if she could override the policy since they did receive it and she said no because it was "past the due date". Then again all in one breath, she went straight into how I'm 3 months past due and that after 3 attempts it goes into collection and at the end of her speech her grand finale, "so will you be making a payment soon?" With customer service like that, I'd rather dispute it then give them another penny.

If you decide to purchase, don't buy membership! If you return, PAY for a confirmation receipt instead of refusing the package. And if (or when) you ever need to dispute something, EMAIL - at least you have written documentation.

I've been using Proactiv for several months, and my acne never went away. It keeps coming back, no matter how much I use this "solution." It's not even a solution, it's just an overpriced piece of crap that doesn't work. I was so determined that my acne was going to get better, and I was excited to use it, because I thought, well, if the celebs use it, it must be good. NOPE. I could not have been more wrong. Just when I thought it might be getting better, it would come back, and I would look gross. I don't like to wear coverup, so that makes it even worse. I'm so sick of looking like this and I want to be beautiful, but that's hard since I have acne. I'm tired of being hurt by broken promises from acne products like this - I want to find a product that actually works for me, so I CAN be beautiful.

I hated this product. I would never buy it again, it was a waste of money, and I would definitley NOT recommend this to anyone.

I orderd this product two years ago and it NEVER worked. I called and cancelled my "membership", they told me that it was cancelled and that I could send back my shipment. I did and then the next month guess what? Another shipment and another bill. I called and they said that it hadnt been cancelled and assured me that this time it was. So AGAIN I shipped back the product. Now 2 months later I am getting collection notices. I called them again and they said that they never recieved my return. So now I am having to get a lawyer to get this crap taken off my credit. It IS A SCAM!!!!! So now I'm out the money that I paid to make my face look horrible and the money for a lawyer. This is absolutly rediculous!!! I dont know if my story helps someone decide not to order from this company, but I promise you will end up very unsatisfied. Oh and I just had the random pimples around "that time of the month" and now I have horrible cystic pimples. I have never had acne this bad and I am 25 years old. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!

Proactiv seemed to work for the first few weeks, but I soon noticed scars and EXTREME dryness (I have oily skin)and dark chemical burns!Since my face was drying out and burning so bad, I decided to stop using it until my face got better. A week after I stopped using it, my acne got WAY worse. I honestly think the makers of proactiv put some kind of "addicting" substance in the product to make your skin become dependent on proactiv. Buying proactiv was a huge mistake. My face looks a lot worse than it was. It's been about 5 months since I used it and I still have horrible scars caused by proactiv. I've been using "equate daily face wash" from Walmart. It's about $3 and does help clear acne. As for the scars, I use cucumber juice and potato juice (not at the same time). It helps some but, you have to do it for a month or so to actually see results.

Good luck to everyone struggling with the effects from using Proactiv.

People just save your money. This junk is horrible

I wish I could give this product negative stars.
I almost forgot to mention, they still harrass me. I cancelled my account with them over 5 months ago and they still send all kind of cards, deals, etc.

Buyer Beware! Proactive did not work for my daughter. This company is horrible to work with if you want a refund! It does not cost $19.95. It costs $67.84 for one box! They automatically deduct it from your credit card in installments and will continue sending you kits and making deductions each month unless you cancel. They even continued taking money out of my account after I cancelled. They will not refund your money if you send the product back, even an unopened box, after 60 days. Incredibly unhelpful and not interested in customer satisfaction!

I've gotten the worst acne of my life after using proactive huge under the skin bumps that itch and hurt wtf? I never wear makeup anymore bc Im trying to "heal my acne" I just really f'in hope this product doesnt cause any scaring on my face. I am unbelievable unsatisfied and i washed my face 3 times a day. PLUS it made my skin look like leatherish dried out acne skin and I got dumped and I blame proactive for that too. ahhg I hate it and am going to the doctor soon before the mega destuction happens when I quit I got 6 huge lump pimples just today and I WORE NO FACE MAKEUP EITHER. Im frusterated OH and if you see ACNE FREE at costco it F'ed my face up too. I didn't even have bad skin problems before. Thank god for my bangs, if only I could grow a beard. :(
