 | irishgit (148) 09/25/2008 | Martinez was active in the Cuban exile anti-Castro movement in the early sixties, and involved in the CIA sponsored "Operation 40" during which time he may well have come into contact with Sturgis, Liddy and Hunt.
He was recruited as part of the break in team for the DNC headquarters at Watergate, and was arrested with the other four burglars at the scene. He pled guilty, together with Sturgis, Barker, McCord and Gonzalez and served a brief term in prison.
Essentially Martinez was little more than a mechanic, and one without much knowledge of anything except the job he was hired to do. Guilty certainly, but pretty far down the food chain.
