Barker was also instrumental in getting money into the Nixon campaign while keeping it off the books; it was via his bank account that twenty-five thousand dollars from Archer Daniels Midland Chief Executive Dwayne Andreas was obtained by the Committee to Re-Elect the President in violation of campaign finance laws.
He as also indicted and convicted of taking part in the break in of the office of Daniel Ellsberg's psychiatrist.
Barker has been said by some theorists to be implicated in the 1963 Kennedy assassination, along with other Watergate figures like Howard Hunt and Frank Sturgis, but there is scant evidence for his involvement there.
Barker served one year of a 30 month to six year sentence, being released pending appeal.
