The customer service with this company is outrageously great. Each person I speak to is nice and intelligent. The price for the service is about average. I recommend shopping around for hardware, don't feel like you have to buy the phones from them. I found a good deal on Cisco phones on Craigslist.

It is working the way I expected--I heard about this service from a vendor I work with--I recommend them.

I use Nextiva for fax and it's integrated to my cell phones email settings so each time I receive a fax, I get a notification letting me know. Closing docs and paperwork get sent to me wherever I am. I've been in real estate for 30+ years and to now have paperwork faxed to my email account instead of fax machine, is much easier.Nextiva is worth the $9 every month.

Nextiva is my email to fax service. I like it and recommend the free trial before buying. I use a PC but it works on my ipad as well.

I'd prefer to rate Nextiva 4.5 stars but I'd give them the benefit and stick with 5. The level of customer service is what drives me to rate them so highly. Phone line works fine however it is the kindness and intelligence of the customer service that is so good. I have not used many of the features that they give with my office plan and I feel the price can be lower than what I am paying. All in all, it is a good deal and far more superior than Comcast. - Delor

I have been a Nextiva customer for almost two years. While my experience with Nextiva as a phone company may be unique, I would like to share my views. I graduated from Penn with a degree in psychology in 2008 and after a year of research and fieldwork, I opened my own practice in Los Angeles. When I was researching for phone companies, my options were to go with Time Warner Cable or a voice over ip company. I spent a week looking into providers and chose Vonage. Voice over ip was and is the right way to go. Vonage looked good and was the most affordable option. After my first month with Vonage being filled with calls to their support helpline and no progress being made, I decided to get my money back and search for other providers. Vonage continuously blamed Time Warner and Time Warner would blame Vonage. Since nearly every office in my building was using Time Warner, I assumed that the issue was on Vonage's end. My second round of research for a new phone company introduced me to Nextiva. The person I worked with to establish my service, Albert, was knowledgable. Since the process of moving phone numbers from one phone company to another took 2 weeks, I decided to lose the number I got from Vonage. I ended up getting a local 310 number with a toll free and fax line from Nextiva for $30 each month. Since voice over IP phones were priced at over $150 I purchased an adapter by Linksys that had the same functionality as the one from Vonage. The same day I received the adapter (which I bought on Amazon) I called Nextiva for setup assistance. If I recall correctly the call took less than 20 minutes and I was setup perfectly. My Nextiva line has been clear without any drops since my first day.I moved to a new office last October as well as added 2 employees and a partner. Prior to the move I purchased Polycom IP phones directly from Nextiva and added the new lines to the phone system.Every call and interaction I've had with Nextiva has been pleasant. Everyone has been courteous and helpful. There may not be a cookie cutter phone system or perfect phone company for every business but I have been satisfied with Nextiva and would recommend everyone I know to use them.

I had high hopes for this VOIP after reading the great reviews. However, buyer beware! Once you sign the contract the service quality immediately depreciates. First of all, I could never get a hold of my original sales rep to place the order for my phones. Due to his lack of support, I barely was able to set up my phones in time before the numbers were ported and mind you this takes 2-4 weeks. Setting up the Polycom phones is very easy. You can even find instructions online and do this without a tech. Their level one techs are not bad. Very pleasant for the most part and I did deal with many if not all of them. Tier 2 techs (for when you have major issues), good luck. Just dont even bother waiting for them to contact you back. They pushed my issue regarding a panasonic phone as "unfixable" and a problem with MY internet. after 3 weeks of incredibly frustrating attempts to find someone at Nextiva willing to help, one special level one tech figured out the problem. THEIR coding was wrong. And it was such a small and minor fix to get this line working. After my second attempt and now pretty furious email, a supervisor finally contacted me to apologize for the issues. (this is before the situation was resolved). He assured me they would assist me and compensate me after the issue was resolved. Now? His email doesnt work, the sales reps email doesnt work, no replies from billing (just to get a copy of an invoice for phones ordered that they never forwarded to me), and no replies from the general [email protected], [email protected], and [email protected] email's. Seriously I have never NEVER dealt with a company so unorganized, and with such a large lack of respect for even just decent customer service. If you are lucky and have no problems setting up, they are ok. Otherwise, although they do not outsource, boy, they are no help. By the way, note that when they port your fax number, you WILL have down time. You have to contact them when your fax number is ported so they can make changes. And yes, they fail to tell you this beforehand.

Once I provided information to Which VOIP, I was immediately called by several companies wanting our business. I chose Nextiva primarily because they had a good rating with the BBB online and there was very minimal start up cost. We use a standard AT&T telephone with 3 handsets and the Nextiva Adapter in our office. It is all working okay at this time. We are in an office behind an internet splitter so It took the Techs a while to figure out we had to have another splitter (between my computer and the Adapter) for this to work. The Tech department was fast, smart, and very helpful. There are times when the voice quality is not great on the phone calls. I'm still not 100% confident in the system and I almost always start out a conversation with "can you hear me okay". I use the "fax" feature which I love, but twice it has sent 30 pages of jibberish instead of the 1 page I was faxing. We have this plan - ""Unlimited Business Nationwide Calling - Only $19.95 per month!!"

They earn and deserve a top rating. If the customer service wasn't as good as I've received, I would probably give Nextiva 4 stars. Compared to the other companies I evaluated, Nextiva was not only the best. But most helpful.
joshialva 03/22/2011
Good for faxing online. I have not tried Nextiva for anything else. At 5 bucks for a fax line its a great deal.
Haskins 02/12/2011
Not the cheapest phone company. There are other sip based voip providers that sell lines for less than they do. But the call quality on nextiva's lines are consistently clear. Since 2008 I have told at least 50 people I know to use them.If you need a phone provider that runs off sip. I would say go with nextiva.

Saving money each month was what prompted me to change phone companies. With Verizon I was paying for a basic phone and fax line and my bill was $100/mo. Not including internet service. I got Nextiva's service last summer and I am paying them $30/month for phone and faxing. It makes me wonder how Verizon gets away with charging me so much for over 10 years. Regardless I have been happy with Nextiva as my phone company. It is a good deal.
KJamy 12/25/2010
A company that gets it. The customer service is better than any other. Their pricing model is fair. Whenever I call their phone number, my call is answered immediately. I believe they don't outsource customer service. I say this because it's just too good to be outsourced plus every person speaks English. Nextiva has a nice website but I recommend calling into their sales phone line instead of purchasing online. I have easily saved $350 each month.
flamebees 12/02/2010
I use it for phone service and it has been really good.
Builders 11/07/2010
Service is better than anything available. The price is low and we get more than enough. The math is easy.....if you are looking for a phone company I would put Nextiva at the top of any list. Christian in sales is a pleasure to work with.
smileyb 10/26/2010
I'll put it like this. IP phones are not cheap, I paid $150 for each phone. But once you get past the price of the IP phones, the actual phone service is a steal. Nextiva deserves 5 stars for the level of service I've gotten from them. I pay $100 a month for 4 phone lines and it is worth every penny. When I factor the initial setup cost and monthly recurring amount, Nextiva is unbeatable in my eyes.Best of all - every one of the people I have talked to that works there has been very nice.

I came across the site a while ago when I was looking for a voip provider.I overall liked the package and price they offer. Being a skeptic I thought I would have to sacrifie on the customer service end since the price was pretty low. Turns out however, that I actually was pleasently suprised about the quality and the goodcustomer service I received. They are a lot of positives with Nextiva. I have to travel a lot, going from Germany to Poland to the USA a couple of times a year. I never had a problem just connecting my adapter, or when needed my softphone. The installation was fairly simple and all in all it took me about 5 minutes to get everything installed. The knowledge base, as I found out later, after calling support, is also helpful in helping you to get setup on your own.Call quality is awesome, especially unexpected when in Germany or Poland where a lot of places still have the slower DSL connections. I only hadvery few incidents where I had some issue with echo or delay. Mostly, just closing some of the applications on my laptop helped to cure this problem.I would give Nextiva a #1. They have truly suprised an old guy like me who thought he has seen everything and anything in regards to technology.I would not hesitate to recommend Nextiva and have done this with a couple of my business partners who travel the world like me. They love it too.

I am 29 and started my own business in May. I purchased Nextiva as my phone vendor because of the good things I read and I have not been disappointed. Nextiva has been a great example of great CUSTOMER service. I have used plays from their book for my company and I can only say wonderful things about them. Vonage is a bit cheaper and I continue to receive sales calls from them almost every week although for the entire service, I don't believe anything can be Nextiva. They have me sold as a customer for life. Thank you - Jose Vargos

I give NEXTIVA the highest level of praise possible. They setup my phone service the same day I signed up and every person I have spoken to has been nice. It has been wonderful dealing with NEXTIVA. NEXTIVA is a world better than AT&T.

I was using efax for two years since my company was paying for it. I was laid off and my company allowed me to keep my fax number. Since my efax service was $23 per month and I rarely use it I wanted to switch to Nextiva. I signed up for the fax 500 plan, which costs $9.95 and filled the paperwork to have my number transferred to Nextiva the day after I paid for the service. From what I understand Nextiva's support department attempted to transfer my number from efax over to their service but efax rejected it because my fax number was efax's number??!!! The correspondence and calls I got from Nextiva were very impressive and quick. They made an effort to help me switch my # and to see that I was happy.efax has practically help MY fax number hostage and they won't let me transfer it away. This means that I am either stuck with them or I lose my number. Luckily since I don't fax much to begin with I canceled my fax service with efax and got a new 877 number from Nextiva. I refuse to do business with companies that play dirty tricks. My entire experience this past month has made me realize I'd never want to work or deal with a company like efax. Stay away. Nextiva has been a far better service.

Nextiva is a great phone service. It has cut my phone bill in half. The voice quality is great. Their tech support was very helpful setting up the service. They were quick to respond and answered all of my questions. A few months down the line, I needed their help to re-record my auto attendant message. As instructed, I sent them the script via email. Having not received the recording, I emailed them again two weeks later asking about the status of my order. Then I waited about a week. No response. I called early last week and ask to speak with a manager. The guy who answered the phone was very polite and offered to help. He did the recording in Spanish and told me that someone would email me the sound files later that day. I'm still waiting for this voice recording. Nextiva needs to improve the quality of their customer service.

I moved my Qwest fax service to Nextiva fax service. The switch was a good move since I am saving about 25 dollars each month and the fax to email service is more convenient. All my fax messages just go straight into my gmail inbox.I do not send too many faxes each month, approximately 1 or 2 a week but I do receive faxes every week.
happylove 09/06/2010
I would recommend Nextiva phone service but if you go with them make sure to purchase the phones directly from their sales. Support and usability is better when you purchase their phones since they come pre-setup. Nextiva sells the Cisco SPA 504G for $130 which is about the same price other places sell this phone for.Hold times are commonly good. I get my calls answered within a minute by their technical support department. For $30 a line its a great deal.
elenna 08/29/2010
Before switching to Nextiva I used Calnet. The call quality was so poor and I spent so much time working with their technical support people to fix the phones that I reached a point after a year that it was time to switch. I had my numbers moved over to Nextiva and have since been very pleased with my phones and the clarity. Customers we speak with don't complain anymore about the calls sounding poor and my employees have been happier too. The price and technical support at Nextiva is very good. I would also stay away from Calnet.

Seemed like a good service until I tried to send a fax this past weekend and it took over 10 hours to process. Three pages took over 10 hours! So I submit a ticket and hear nothing. Send an email and hear nothing. Use the chat feature and was told that the online chat is purely for sales. In the end, I call the toll-free number, wait in the queue forever, and after being told nothing helpful, the call dropped. There was nothing good about this experience at all... not one redeeming thing.

Naturally I was well received when I called to set up service. Very helpful. As a small business owner I have one phone line, DSL and a very busy acupuncture practice. I crossed all my T's and dotted all my I's and waited for the my business phone number to port over to Nextiva. To be honest I really didn't understand how it all worked but I was assured that I would save lots of money. About 4 days before the transition I phoned Nextiva, I had this nagging feeling about the internet. Nextiva support assured me that all was well. On the morning of the transition I arrived at my office to find that I had no phone line and no internet service AT ALL. I immediately called using my cell phone (good thing I have one). I got no reply. I left multiple messages at every place I could think of. I ended up calling my project manager to come in and handle this because I would be with clients all day. It took hours before Nextiva forwarded my office phone number to my cell phone. No one seemed to know what had happened. Nextiva said it was my internet provider, my internet provider said it was AT&T, AT&T said it was Nextiva. Around and around my project manager went for the next 4 hours. At a rate/cost to me and my busness of $60 per hour.Long story here, since Nextiva didn't ask and I didn't know, this service does not work if your DSL and phone are on the same line!!! Now understand that Nextiva DID NOT figure this out. My project manager finally pieced it together. Now I had to maintain Nextiva's service, thru my cell phone for the next 3 weeks while my number was ported back to AT&T. You can imagine the several hundred dollar cell phone bill that I ended up with. When I phoned Nextiva to tell them what was wrong and that I held them responsible for what had happened, I was told that they are too big to cover those kinds of details with people. Would have been nice if they'd told me up front I was too small for them. No one ever called me after the fact. I had to push to be refunded for the money spent. I incurred a minimum of $500 extra expenses for trusting that the phone people would tell the acupuncturist what would work or not work. This doesn't not account for the insubstantial expenses like potenitial missed calls or the expense of the added stress. If I could, I would not give Nextiva even one star.
JoeBob121 02/10/2010
Horrible...horrible. Stay away. We have dropped calls, garbled audio, delayed audio, can't dial specific numbers, and even have had (on three occassions) complete failure of phone service...no inbound or outbound and no way of contacting Nextiva.I've kept a log of phone problems for the past 2 months, and to-date I have over 30 entries. Somedays it works fine, then it won't work at all. I've been on tech support so many times, its not even funny. I've been upgraded to level 2 tech support, they will dial in..change some router settings, and see "how it works for the next couple of days". Nothing has ever been resolved. Got an email from Support over the weekend on my latest problem, I emailed them promptly back and said, "I will give you one more chance to rectify the situation, otherwise, i've moving my business." And I never got a response (that was 4 days ago). It makes my business look so unprofessional when my phones don't work properly. All the time, I have to tell a customer "i'm sorry, we're having phone problems again. Let me call you back from my cell phone".Its unbelievable. Please, do your research before jumping in with this company. Yes, I did save alot of money switching from AT&T, but remember what your mother always told you? "You get what you pay for".

I've been on Nextiva for running my business phone and just got fax added to my plan. I've canceled all my services except internet from verizon. One negative - verizon decided to charge me $55 month instead of $45 for internet because I no longer bundle my services. But for fax I now save 25 bucks and for phone service Im saving 90 on two lines each month.Activating the plan and switching my numbers were easy. I first started the process by taking my main phone numbers and then once everything was working, I moved my fax.Since I'm in real estate and all my faxes are time sensitive, I needed to make sure things were working well. It took a bit of learning to get a hang of the way faxing works with email. But I like it much more. Since I receive faxes more than I send, its nice to decide which ones I actually want to print and which ones can just stay in the digital form.My service experience has been positive and I've referred some friends. Which i get a kickback for each line I send over. It's a solid win-win.

HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE SERVICE. What a rip off. Our phones constantly go down, and when do their unqualified staff can 't help with anything except "reboot your router".. Been there, done that a million times. How can 10 phones go down at the same at 2 different locations with different routers. And everytime I call, the supervisors are always in a meeting. The company should be called NEGATIVA not Nextiva. If you runn a PROFESSIONAL business don't deal with these guys because they dont' understand the term "professional" .

When I first switched to Nextiva in April 2009, I was very impressed with their support. I would have given them 5 stars, from support to service. Today, I'm at the point of giving up and look elsewhere.I've used Nextiva for 9 months now. My first gripe is that the phone book can only hold 50 contacts, which means when anyone who is NOT in my 50 stored contacts, the caller ID ONLY displays the phone number somebody calls from, NO name! But what's most irritating that the voice mail delivery is inconsistent. Over the nine months, I've had people tell me they had called and left a message, but didn't hear from me. I NEVER got the voice mail, and sure enough when I called myself to double check the system, it worked fine. Finally this last Monday I was logged-in to my account, and looked at the caller's log, seeing that that particular morning 2 people called where next to it it said a voicemail was deposited - EXCEPT that I did NOT get the voice mail. As before, I called myself, and this time, it did not work for me, either. I called Nextiva's support, and a technician tried, also without getting the voice mail. Finally there was cause to open a support ticket. 48 hours later, I received an email saying they were still working on resolving the issue. It was listed as medium priority, and the status said: "Waiting for customer response". I emailed back, asking WHY they were waiting for my response - there was NOTHING I could do. I also suggested that they escalate it to high priority. That was the last I heard. Since then, I have received two or three voice mails, and assumed it was fixed - only to find out from somebody who just called again today, saying she had left me a message a few days ago. WHY would the voice mail delivery be hit or miss? It is NOT acceptable!

Calling nextiva outstanding is an understatement. The technical and sales support people have been very nice and helpful. Comparing them to verizon, my last provider, nextiva is far better. If you're a business, use them. My whole office runs off of xlite softphones and the quality is solid.

I’ve been using a Nextiva PBX for 6 months now and I’ve never been more impressed with a VoIP Provider. Hands down, they beat BroadVoice, voip.com, and Vonage. Although Vonage has their network together on a massive scale, the quality of service with Nextiva is fantastic. I actually feel bad requesting support because I know what it takes to provide quality VoIP (Being a former employee of a major voip firm) and Nextiva doesn’t cut corners. From my research and use, I found they use good quality multi-homed bandwidth with their network, asterisk systems that support a wide variety of codecs, and they actually have a real live English speaking person in their porting department (Who returns phone calls!)You couldn’t ask for more…Pit Falls: there sales department is a little high pressured and willing to sell you the moon. The way the account sign up process works (when I signed up) had a stupid insecure default passwordTheir PBX features are lacking things like call screening which is extremely useful when forwarding extensions to peoples home or cell phones so they know to answer professionally.Things to good to be true;Unlimited really is unlimited.I’ve had extremely large conference calls going on my single unlimited line. (Broadvoice and others restrict this to two total users in conference)I haven’t seen a quota on my voicemail storage.I can connect more than one soft phone using one set of SIP credentials. (Soft phone at the home and office rings simultaneously -awesome)Price, price, price.

I would love to try Nextiva but they can not port my existing phone number because of my location in North Dakota. I have checked with a few other providers that have OK reviews and I get the same answer. Something to do with the rate center. I called the State Public Service Commision and they tell me that there is no reason that they can't port my number. I have been in business for 10 years and do not want to change numbers. If I could keep my number I would sign up today!

I've had the worst experience with Nextiva. Anytime I have a call that lasts longer than 10 minutes, it drops out. I've told them about the problem numerous times and they can't do anything to fix it. Do not make the mistake of switching to this company like I did.
volumewhiz 05/19/2009
We have had nothing but problems with Nextiva. The support staff was always assuring that our lines would work properly, however they didn’t. We were so excited to have switched our company’s phone AND fax line back in January, and I can honestly say after MULTIPLE phone calls our fax line still doesn’t work to this very day nor do we have voice mail on the primary line. It has cost us more headache, TIME, and money!!!!! My husband and I have no idea why they advertise having a better service than Vonage, yet the technical support staff has absolutely no idea what they are doing. We have switched back to Vonage....WE GIVE UP!!!!!

I've been trying to get Nextiva to work. I've done everything that they've suggested but my calls keep dropping, some people don't get a ring at all and go directly to voicemail, and sometimes I'm alerted to voicemail and sometimes I am not. This has been many many months of aggravation. I've been in constant contact with Nextiva, until over a week ago, when I guess they determined that they would no longer respond to me. Very very disappointed. It's low cost, and quality.

I have had a very poor experience with Nextiva. Look elsewhere for VOIP. I am an attorney, so communication with my clients and opposing counsel is essential. The initial purchase was easy, until I realized what happened after the fact. Nextiva spelled my name incorrectly, which made subsequent communication difficult. Nextiva then assigned my phone number to another business, that confused my clients and other counsel. When I called to correct service problems, in addition to what is listed here, Nextiva did not fix the problems, I was passed from person to person, and they did not return emails or phone messages.

The reliability factor makes me give nextiva 5 stars for this review. Their service has been great and I recommend them for business phone service. Looking at what I'm getting overall it is good and I like them.
chart 02/09/2009
I have to say I have a very different opinion about Nextiva. I have to wonder if these other reviews may be written by people that work there. It's a tiny little company with just a few employees. There service is unreliable at best. The most reliable part of working with Nextiva is the billing. We tried to work with a few of the guys their but didn't have any good results. What we learned from one of them is that they are a tiny company operating on a small budget with just a few employees trying to run a large phone network. If you can't take the heat, don't use the blowtorch!
MiriamMontessi no 02/07/2009
My experience with Nextiva's service kicked off on a good note when I got a courtesy welcome call from their team thanking me for joining. It was not a long call and they weren't trying to sell me anything....something you don't see too often. The next thing that really impressed me was that they were able to port my number and they did everything for me after I faxed them a copy of my bill and the form they needed.Jumping from the analog world to digital was wise. I'm a fan of how I can manage my account from the online control panel.Probably the best thing about nextiva (even though most of the other things are great) is the fact that they have a good support dept. thats not outsourced. I can't stand how I call every company/vendor and they outsource their support. As a business owner, the idea of outsourcing does not make much sense to me and its nice to see that the people that pick up the phones for them don't read off a scripts all day long.

When my contract expired with Packet8, I figured it was time to find a new company to go with. The one thing I liked about Nextiva was how they don't even have contracts. I pay month to month and they don't play games like the phone companies. So far I've been quite impressed by the quality of voice over IP and love how the features are so vast and actually work. Well the work part was with Nextiva - not Packet8. Nextiva is cheaper and works better than Packet8 based on my experience.
