I bought the MZ-R55 eight years ago. The thing keeps going and going, even though it's been dropped a few times. The sound quality is remarkable; I've recorded some amazingly studio-sounding music with good mikes and a small mixing board. Sony's audio equipment (and video equipment) are without parallel.

This really changed my opinion on Minidisc players, it sounds great, lookd great, and shows up Sony's beaming reputation. A real cracker, this, really recommended. It's also very small, compact, and stylish. I'd also recommend Sony's Minidisc Island site, use this link http://exclusive.proteinmusic.com/debut2064666/md.h tm

Great product, never jumps and is probably the best ive used, the fact that it has the PC link makes it easy for me to take music from my PC so i can listen to my favourite music when ever i want to. Excellent quality sound second to none. Another excellent Sony Product.

I think it is absolutley wonderful, i use it when cycling no jumps over any bumps. I wish it was easier to input track information but hey its not that hard. whith the new pc link you can download directly to your mini disc well cool. i would recomend the mini disc format with PC link to all rush out and buy one

This thing is a God send I've been looking for something like this for ages now. Finally a device perfect for listening to quality music wherever I want the sound is great the build quality is second to none features are everything you would need quite simply the best on the market for the money. Just you would expect from Sony. Accept no imitations.

The Sony R series, aside for the 5XX models is pretty impressive. Good looks and good features (although some of them are just gimmicky...good for those guys who buy led-flashing behind-the-head headphones!) One thing i really like about the R series is the simplicity of design, especially on the r900, which looks neater than the 909 IMO. The units I've seen seem pretty durable for sony products, maybe sony is finally getting its ass in gear and has finally started putting some care in assembling it products --as it used to be the case in the 80's. anyway, not the best value for money, but for North American buyers there is not much other competition/choice

This model of portable, recordable mini-disc player is the only product I would recommend more than the Diamond Rio series, inportable media. The mini-disc recorder matches the Rio's small size and convenience, but surpasses the Rio by being able to record media from any available input, not just mp3's (which a MP player can record as well).

Work relatively well. The MZR-50's series are nice, large battery pack. 70's are piece of crap. It would be nice if the buttons are larger. Hard to push-easy to slip and mess up recordings.

I wish there could be a radio on it. You can dowload MP3s onto it. Good size, love the display. Nice weight. Wish the sound bass could be stronger.

The Sony minidisc is the smallest minidisc player. Almost no larger than the disc itself. Using it is easy and the sound quality is great. It's lightweight and the one I have does not skip.

Looks great and plays great with a lot of features. However, price is a lot more than others.

I love this system! The R series are the best of all the mini-disc systems Sony has created. They are not bulky like all the other brands and can easily fit in my pocket when I go jogging and other vigorous activities. They are very durable (I have dropped mine a couple of times and it still works fine). The only complaint I have is that they take awhile to turn on and off (about 2 or 3 times slower than a CD player) and are extremely pricey right now. However, I would recommend buying the R90 model over the R55-itis worth the extra $50.

Sony comes through with another winner. The quality of Sony lives on. The player looks great, sounds great, and is really hard to get to skip. There is also a long anti-shock time.

Best Mini disc player to date! 6 hours of battery life. Excellent life for a mini disc player. Very good sound features.

I own the player, long battery life, good design. I've recommended the player to customers. It is very compact and easy to carry the product around.

The Sony MZ-R is a high quality product that has all the features you would like on a MD. You could record MP3s on it and play it back, or tranfer CDs to MD.

Sony as always means quality and clarity, and the MZ-R is no exception, if you can afford it.

I love my MZ-R 91(not released in America). It is the smallest MD out. It is compact, lightweight and easy to use. It has a battery life of twenty hours without the battery extention.

Very expensive, top of the line player. Has a fully functional remote control for easy changing of songs. With the internet you can have any song you want.

Skip proof, portable, recordable and great digital sound. I love portable players because you can take them around without having a heavy bulge in my pocket.

Sony is undoubtedly the best electronic equipment designer in the industry. Nowadays, Sony is the sign for fashion. In fact, I just try one of them only. Main advantage is light and easy to use. Disadvantage is that need to change discs all the time. The disc can record too little time of music.

It is light weight, small and easy to use. Because it comes with a rechargable battery, you can save money on batteries.

Small portable player/recorder uses miniature rewritable discs to store anything from your favorite mp3s to class lectures. You can listen to your tracks in your car with a car adapter, or put it in your pocket for a jog. I bought the MZR-50 a couple years ago and it is probably one of the best buys I've ever made.

I bought this for 3 days then returned it because of the cost ($300) when I could just use my regular $50 CD player and not have to copy all of my CDs over to MiniDisc (which took forever).

The MZ-R Series MD player/recorders have a long list of hardware problems... namely the recharging mechanism and the laser diode head. These are the MZ-R 30, 50 and 55.

I love Sony but being a Sharp fan, a solid bass lover, I think Sharp is a superior product. Sony has great quality, nice midrange and high, but lacks the basss offered by Sharp. But hey, Sony pioneered the MD- you can't go wrong with their stuff.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLAYER BECAUSE IT IS VERY COMPACT AND LIGHTWEIGHT. BATTERY LIFE IS SUFFICIENT AND THE ANTISHOCK SKIP IS EXCELLENT.

It's small, light, well designed, and it's very easy to use. I'm very happy with it, and it looks way better than the others such as Sharp, and Aiwa.
