Luckily, I did not get the burning sensation everyone seems to talk about. Previous to Tom's of Maine deodorant, I had stopped wearing the stuff completely, because of the Aluminium and the links to cancer. This is not an anti-perspiration product and does not stop sweating. This does not bother me, because I was not using anything previous to this purchase. It certainly does it's job. The sweat I do emit smells less, and I doubt is detectable by anyone other than myself. It might be a product you'd like to carry with you, because re-applying once or twice daily might be necessary. It's done me decently in the Arizona heat. I've heard if you want to avoid the rash that the original, and not the long lasting product, does not have the same effect.

I have started a google group dedicated to exposing this issue. After writing to customer support and being told a very small percentage of consumers have this problem, I decided enough is enough. They have to know about this peeling problem. Lets make them know how many of us are experiencing peeling and burning armpits after using their product! http://groups.google.com/group/toms-of-maine-makes-armpits-burn-and-peel?hl=en

Yes, irritations and rashes are common if deodorants contain lots of different chemicals and coloring. Most deodorants out there don't work ! After using certain dri-antiperspirants, I became disliking the fact that it can clog up and preventing sweating and I don't want that. I try to stay away from any antiperspirants and deodorants that leaving bad smell behind, irritating too much or give me rashes. Since I have very bad underarm smell, I finally found one deodorant that really works for me. I have a terribly bad funky armpit odour, like cockroach smell, so I need deodorant. however not just any deodorant, because I don't want it to dry-up or clog up my skin or give me bad smell afterwards. I've been using UARMSOL deodorant for many years now and I have no more armpit odours. Even when I sweat I don't have any odours, this deodorant works great and I'm loving it. I can't go out in the day without putting it on. Even when I sweat my armpits don't have any smell. I applied 1 pinc... Read more

I used Apricot Tom's and at first, I loved it! It smelled great and it never left any markings on my clothing. I used it 1-2 times per day. It worked well and I had no problems with odour. Once I was about halfway done my stick, I discovered that I had 1-2 pus filled bumps in each of my armpits. They were each about the size of a dime or slightly smaller. They continued to develop until I switched products. I've been using Crystal deoderant ever since and I've been very happy.

I have been using the Toms of Maine apricot deodorant for about a year now, and I still Love it! The smell is incredible, better than any other, including the brands that insist on being antiperspirant/deodorant. I love smelling the fragrance throughout the day! It is fresh and feminine and if I skip a day, I regret it...

I've used it in the past and it did work for me, but only for a little while. It stopped working about 2 months after I started. Since then I've switched over to a different natural deodorant. It's been a lot longer then 2 months and it's still working great. If also have sensitive skin this is great for you as well, I'm allergic to almost everything out there except for this.

I have many skin allergies and finally had top go without deoderant and the such. I tried Tom's and found the the unscented still made me have allergic reaction. The Lavender scent, not so much. Then I tried woodspice and found it to be just what I needed. Even when the scent no longer is smelled, I still didn't smell of BO. I have since went to the apricot scent, I smell yummy all day. The place I shop for it now has great discounts as the place I had to special order it sold it for $7.95. Just tried the newest scent, cucumber-grapefruit. So far, so good. I think Tom's is good for you if it works for you.

Although the label said it was fragrance-free, there was still a pleasant citrus smell which was fine by me. Unfortunately, one medium-paced 15 minute walk in the park with the dog later and the citrus smell was definitely replaced by one of B.O! Never have I found a more useless deodorant, and I am only glad I bought it at a reduced price.

I bought Toms 24-hour Crystal Confidence, because I heard there was no aluminum in it. Aluminum is potentially linked with damage to the brain. Tried it 2 days, then I looked at the ingredients. NOT the label, which says 100% natural, but the backside. First ingredient after water: Potassium alum, which definitely contains aluminum. $^$^&%*%!! I guess aluminum is natural, so is arsenic. Anyone looking for aluminum-free, forget this item. I think I will try Burt's Bees deodorant, if I can find it.

I used to use conventional deodorant and antiperspirant but it didn't really work and I have heard such terrible things about it. I'm trying to switch to only using all-natural products. I have always been skeptical of all-natural deodorant because it doesn't work. I read online that someone tried the new 24 hour long lasting Toms and loved it. I bought it a few weeks ago and will never go back. The smell is just right and I still sweat some (hello people this is a natural part of your body, you're supposed to sweat) but I don't smell like sweat and it lasts throughout the day. I would highly recommend. I don't have any issues with color or peeling - that sounds like some people have an allergic reaction to an ingredient in the deodorant (some people are allergic to fruits and veggies, it doesn't make them bad for everyone). I'd prefer to sweat a little and not get cancel from the chemicals in conventional deodorant and anti-perspirant. But hey, maybe that's just me.

Awful Awful Awful! I decided to try Tom's deodorant because it was 'Aluminum Free' and my brother had mentioned that aluminum found in antipersperant was evidently linked to Alzheimer's. So I used it for about a month or so and one day I noticed my underarms were extremely red. A week later I noticed my skin was starting to peel. I read other reviews and saw that alot of people had the same issue. I don't understand why they haven't done anything about it. DONT BUY IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have tried this every all natural deodorant there is almost and none did what they said they would. Some made body odour even worse or made my skin a funny color. Rocky Mountain Botanicals has an AMAZING all natural deodorant. My Naturopathic Doctor sells it in her office. Havent seen it in stores yet but their web site is www.rockymountainbotanicals.ca. I have tried them all and this one really works! I apply it once and it lasts all day! No odour! Love it!

My customers begged me to make an all natural deodorant. They say that since Tom's was purchased from Colgate it now has aluminum in it. I made one and tested it on my 30 and 33 year old sons. It works great and my customers love it.

We went on vacation and my Burt's Bee's ran out!! I ran into the drugstore which we know doesn't offer many Aluminum Free options, but found Tom's of Maine 12hr lavendar scent. Smelled great, purchased, and applied ASAP. Not even 2 hours later, the body odor was extreme!! I wasn't in a position to shop for alternatives so I sprayed vanilla oil on my body to mask the BODY ODOR. If in this situation again, I would skip trying to buy Tom's of Maine as the label is misleading and go without! My suggestion is to buy Burt's Bee's deodorant as it is long lasting and can be purchased at most drugstores.

We started using Tom's because we were trying to go all natural with our beauty products and such. And it smelled like Apricots! We thought we found what we were looking for. From the beginning, we had to apply the stuff at least 6 times a day for it to make a difference. Within 5 days, the skin started peeling off my girlfriends armpits. 2 days later, the skin started peeling off mine. Plus, my armpits seemed to be turning gray. It was never "long lasting." I think we kept trying to work with it because we thought it was a truly good natural product, but it is NOT. We ended up with rashy itchy peeling gray armpit skin. I'm looking up how to return it for a refund. I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS DEODORANT IS LEGAL. Don't buy it, and if you did, throw it away.

I love Tom's of Maine toothpaste so I was excited to try their deodorant so I bought the apricot since it is a 12-hour deodorant. Deodorant-wise, it was just okay. Not as good as what I'm used to, but since I work at home I didn't care that much. But then last night, after using the deodorant for about a month, I noticed that my underarms had white gunk on them, kind of like when your deodorant clumps up. But when I went to rub it off, it turns out it was my SKIN. My other underarm had the same situation. Both armpits peeled off like a sunburn. I looked it up online and it turns out many people have had this issue along with burning. I love the idea of going as natural as possible, but not when it flays the skin off my pits.

I just purchased the 24 hour protection, long lasting in mountain spring scent. It's really nice and I've been using it for two days (I did P90x 2 times in it and still smelled good). I originally bought the 12 hour lavender scent, but I found that I was needing to reapply it more than normal. For those that want longer protection, try the mountain spring in 24 hour, you won't be disappointed. Oh and it isn't advisable to put this deodorant on right after shaving your arm pits - wait a while or put some cold water on them so that your pores can close up first.

Seriously what deodorant will work if you perspire? I have been using Tom's for more than 3 years and of all the Natural Aluminum free deodorants that I have tried, this has worked the best by far. I have an active indoor job and there are times that I will perspire but I have not been terribly offensive to the people around me during those times. If there is a significant body order coming from you remember, it is only releasing what you have placed in your body so maybe you need to make some corrections with your diet and not just the deodorant.

I have had problems using regular deodorant for the past few years - constantly had boils (due to me being allergic but I didn't know). I went to various health food stores to try different natural products and they left me with no protection from sweating and odor. I purchased Tom's unscented for sensitive skin on a whim - I had nothing to loose. The first few days, by the time I got home, I needed a shower and reapplied deodorant. However I noticed an immediate change in my underarm area - the boils stopped leaking - within weeks, the boils were gone and the deodorant had begun to help with the sweating. Within about 2-3 weeks, the deodorant was able to eliminate my odor and sweating - Nothing has been able to do this in years!!!!!!! I have been using the product for about 3 months now and all of the boils are gone!!!!!!! My underarm is clear and smelling fresh!!!!!! Thanks Tom's of Maine Natural - you have a new and faithful customer!!!!!!!

First of all, this is a DEODORANT, not an anti-perspirant. For previous reviewers who dislike wetness, get an anti-perspirant. I get the unscented gentle formula because I have terrible razorburn and have suffered through many underarm breakouts and itching throughout the years. I have been allergic to pretty much every deodorant/anti-perspirant. After the first couple days of using this product, my underarms began to heal up nicely! Yay! The deodorant is unscented and I can't smell anything except a hint of chamomile (soothing gentle formula). When I put it on, I smell nothing. I sweat profusely and this stuff doesn't wear off IF I put it on immediately after showering. I live in south Texas, in the summer that means extreme humidity and triple degree heat. I do notice a type of smell after a lot of sweating, but it isn't B.O. It's sort of wet and musty but nobody else notices. I really have to stick my nose in there to smell it. I ask people to smell me when we hug and n... Read more

I am a male and I don't sweat a lot. I wanted to use some Aluminum-Free deodorant, and I thought Tom's of Maine was the perfect solution. I loved the smell (maybe they improved the ingredients?). I felt great for a month. Only once did I feel like I had to apply more deodorant. Everything was fine, until the deodorant started to settled in my body. I am a clean guy. Haven't had sex in months. Now I have a yeast infection. Thanks Tom's of Maine, you are like the girlfriend I never wanted. The "hops extract" may have affected the good bacteria in my genital area or weaken something inside my body. I take two showers a day, three if I work out during the day. I have never had a yeast infection until I tried this deodorant. So if you do have a problem with yeast infections or may not want a yeast infection... try not to purchase Tom's of Maine Natural Deodorant.

Great that it's all natural but I agree with the reviewers who said it does nothing for them. I'm sweaty in minutes after applying and the musk smell is a combo of musk and b/o. Jason's deodorant on the other hand is one that also doesn't have aluminum and works.

I am a female and have had odor problems (only when wearing sleeveless tops in the summer) over the past 15-20 years. This was always humiliating and really limited my choices in summer tops and dresses. I have tried every clinical strength and extra strength product there is. I first tried the crystal, which was pretty effective, but needing to wet it all the time was a bit of a hassle and sometimes the crystal would become scratchy if a small piece came off. My last resort was Toms Unscented. I was desperate one day as I was at a barbecue and began to smell myself. I had to leave and go to a drugstore to get new deodorant to apply after washing up (which is not pleasant with paper towels). I saw the Toms and decided to give it a shot. I could not believe the difference. After hours of sitting in the sun, I had no odor. I couldn't believe it and thought maybe it was a coincidence. I started using it before going to bed just to see and after an entire night in a sleeveless nightgown (... Read more

I would give it less than one star if I could. I couldn't even leave this deodorant on for five minutes...my underarms were SO sticky, and I was not even in a warm room. And the smell...it was like a combo of body odor and lavender funk. I used a wet washcloth to try to get it off, and think I need to shower to get the smell off completely. Yikes!

I have used the Unscented and the Lavender Tom's of Maine deoderants. I think that they do OK at odor control. I do not sweat heavily nor do I mind sweating but I do find that I have to reapply the deoderant a few times a day in warmer weather. Only a couple times of day in winter months. My husband only applies once a day and smells fine but not me! Go figure. I like the fact that it's all natural but I know that it's not for everyone. Very gentle and non-irritating though.

At first it worked great but then after a few months I noticed my armpits started to turn a grayish color and on top of that I started to smell like vinegar. I have never had a body odor problem before. After I started to use a more mainstream deodorant my armpits turned back to their normal color and the smell went away. I don’t know why this happened but I will never use Tom's of Maine again.

I have allergies to anti-perspirant so I've tried a number of alternatives. Deodorant crystals and Tom's of Maine (the apricot scented one) were a few deodorants I thought would be good alternative. WRONG. On me it worked for 2-3 hours. I don't mind the sweating, after all that's what the body is supposed to do. But the stank, uh uh! If it wasn't for my lunch time work outs and showers, I don't know what I'd do. The best deodorant I've come across was Adidas. I'm not sure what happened but I can't find it anywhere. Until I find it again, I'll keep hitting the gym and showers mid-day. The best part of this is that I'm getting in shape.

I have been using Tom's Long Lasting Apricot Deodorant for about 3 weeks now. I have sensitivity issues with many other deodorants, but I have not broken out since using this product. It smells very strong when I first put it on, but the scent soon leaves and I find myself re-applying it often. I don't have a problem with this, because my only issue with other deodorants was the aluminum and putting on more of Tom's doesn't equal putting more aluminum on my skin. I would not recommend it for anyone who has severe sweating/smelling issues, or someone who doesn't want to reapply.

After the first few days of using this product I was happy that it proved an effective deorderant. I am by no means a person who is prone to allergies, infact I dont think I am allergic to anything. Nor do I have sensitive skin. However after a week of using this the skin under my arm had started severe peeling, almost like a snake shedding its skin. I was not happy, from reading around I discovered I was not the only person that this product had this effect on. My question is how well was this product tested before releasing, I cant imagine very well. I will be sending mine back for a refund.

The only natural deodorant that smells delicious and keeps me stink-free the whole day with less prespiration (hard qualities to find in a natural deodorant). I'm talking about the Apricot long-lasting care one. This is for people who are trying to find a good natural deodorant but maybe not for those who need a prescription strength, extreme sweat & anti-funk formula. Lol.

I bought the Apricot 12 hr long-lasting odor protection & it's awful. This was my first time buying a Tom's product & I bought it so I wouldn't be constantly putting aluminum into my body but Tom's is NOT working for me. I've had to reapply it 4 times a day & last night I was at a party & forgot to bring it with me & I ended up smelling. I was so self-conscious at the party & made sure to clamp my arms tight at my side so no weird aroma was coming from my pits. I am not thrilled with this product as it offered NO 12 hr (or even 3 hr!) long-last "protection". I noticed someone mention "Funk Butter" in their comment so I am going to buy that & see if that works better than Tom's.

I rate Tom's Apricot deodorant a One. I'm trying to be considerate of the elements I allow in my body and considerate of the ones that come out. However, an unpleasant smell is one that I surely want to keep stable. Using tom's is not working for ME...again for ME at all. I feel like I never put deodorant on at all. Also, as I read from another commentor...I have to reapply at least twice a day. One shouldnt have to do all that. Also, I believe it's causing my skin to peel or somethings going on under those arms that I'm going to have to find out.

I bought this deodorant because it has no aluminum in it and I have to say that I am very happy with it so far. I just got thur exercising on a treadmill and before with my other popular named deodorant, I would have BO, but I didn't with Tom's. I also did not have any underarm wettness. I bought the stick with apricot. The only thing I've noticed with using it is that after applying, it takes a while to dry so I would be sure that it was dry before putting on your clothes. The only reason I rated this 4 stars is that I wished it would have a more pleasant smell even though the apricot is not bad. Otherwise, I am very pleased with the performance and will definitely continue using.

As far as controlling body odor, this product works wonderfully. Unfortunately if you put on a fitted shirt right after applying you will be left with two wet spots that will take some time to dry up. Also this product doesn't do much in the controlling wetness department.

I bought Tom's fragrance free deodorant for my stinky boyfriend and it sorta worked, but the smell really wanted to come through on him and eventually did. I bought the lavender for myself and have reapplied 2x a day for a few days, and it seems to be working but I don't trust it. I don't smell terrible, but I don't smell like lavender either. I love this product myself, and have managed to convince my wife (more or less) that she should use it exclusively. (She does so for me but occasionally reverts to anti-perspirant.) People should understand two things: 1) deodorant is NOT anti-perspirant, and 2) sweat is not sinful. Now I'm not saying this product is for everyone, but I prefer something less flowery and more natural than any anti-perspirant can deliver. I have a vague, lurking suspicion in the back of my mind that shutting down sweat glands isn't a good idea, but I'm not going to make any claims as to what ills it causes...just that it seems not necessary to take a chance on. And let me just say (with as much discretion as possible) that I much prefer a product that isn't so bitter-tasting that it makes one pucker up for 10 minutes after touching the tongue.

It really does depend on which one you buy. I have lavender right now and it's not working that well but apricot did REALLY well. As for the price, yes it's pricier, but one stick lasted me almost 6 months, and yes, I applied it daily.

This rating is based on my personal experience, so I recommend at least trying it out before forming your own opinion. I really wanted this product to be 5 stars, since it would be nice to be able to depend on an all natural product. However, with by body chemistry none of Tom's Of Maine's deodorants nor anti-perspirants were effective on odor unless I re-applied it twice a day. With most brands, I usually do not need to apply more than once a day. I give this brand 3 stars overall because friends have told me they liked it.
