I use this kid to practice drums, until I feel like I should get a real set. To tell you the truth, after playing this, going to a real set was actually easier, but not because of anything good. sound: there are about a total of 5 sounds in this thing that are somewhat realistic, but they cut them short. Crash stops after 1/3 of a second, along with any other sound. I enjoy one snare sound, a couple of toms, and about 3 bass drum sounds. The cymbals aren't bad sounding, they just don't play out. Also, the drum sets wiring is not well done, mine has a slight hum out of one channel. The pads hold up ok, but they are quite small. structure: This L shaped structure does not function well. it has nothing to keep the vertical bars from twisting side to side, which then loosens everything else, and then it falls into a crooked heap. The connections have been smoothed, so tighten them all you want, until you make them gritty they'll just keep moving. Overall: If you have a young kid ... Read more

I looked over the reviews from 3 years back until now. Lots of complaints could be perpetrated by the customers themselves........ 1. Plastic thumbscrews fall apart....seems that they have been replaced by metal ones. 2. Drumbsticks broke after 10 minutes.......I am 6'5'', 300 lbs with a 36" waist and a third degree black belt. I beat on these drums everday and have been for the last month.....nothing has broke.....must be using those sticks to pry open dads liquor cabinet. 3. Drum pads drop down after continuous play.....the bracketry is plastic however some ingenuity could prevail here....maybe spray some spray adhesive to make it grip better, again I have no problem. 4. Complaint about he kick drum pedal echoing...has not happened to me but there is a .pdf document for the adjustment of the pedals..maybe has to do with that effect. 5. Complaints of the controller failing.......Have not had the problem. 6. Cheap construction.......I would rath... Read more

Bought this for my 10 year old grandson. I was willing to pay $500 for a real Ludwig drum set but we have no room for a real set and 'settled' for this. We could not be more satisfied. It is hooked into my son's fancy home theater system and it sounds just like a real drum set. Don't think twice, buy it for you or a loved one!

Non-musicians who just get this as a noise-making toy for their kids may be satisfied until the kids destroy it (which I suspect will happen in short order, as it is very fragile and poorly designed), but it simply is junk to any adult drummer who wants it for any serious purpose. I did not expect much, just something to trigger MIDI control data to software drum synths when recording, but this mess couldn't even do that reliably, though it claims to be able to. The MIDI control is buggy and flawed, _vide infra_. All of the complaints mentioned in other reviews so far are 100% valid, so I won't list them again -- the list is too long. I would add that the heads are rock-hard and their piezo senders are fragile and produce very weak output. As low as my expectations were for this thing, it fell far, far short of the minimum acceptable function and was a TOTAL waste of money. It does NOT perform its listed functions properly as has been explained in other reviews.

I'm not a drum expert by any means, but it seems to be an OK set. The drumsticks included broke within ten minutes, but after we git everything set up it seems to work OK.
