They have some talent here and there. At least on paper they have a great secondary, a fairly solid defensive line and some good playmakers at RB, but the rest of this team is a mess. Their offensive line can't pass protect for nothing, the QB situation is messy. Many in Oakland are already calling JaMarcus Russell a bust after 2 years. I think he's shown some flashes, perhaps under a good offensive line and better WR's, he might be very good. I do know he was highly touted coming out of LSU, but he has been marred by discipline problems in the NFL. If he can get that stuff squared away, he might be the franchise QB they've been looking for.

As for their Super Bowl chances, they are close to nil. Al Davis really needs to find a GM who will hire a new coach and sign personnel. For all his past accomplishments, the game has passed Davis. The sooner he acknowledges this, the quicker he will get it turned around.

I'm excited to see how Darren McFadden does in the NFL, but thats all the excitement I have for this team. JaMarcus Russell didn't make wise decisions in his rookie year last season, and the reports out of Oakland's training camp is that he is continuing to struggle. The team's leading receiver apparently had to be talked out of retiring at just age 29 during the offseason, and this is still the team which unsuccesfully tried to force its coach to resign after the season. Nothing good appears to be coming out of Oakland, and I suspect the rest of the AFC West will be happy with that.
