I will start off by saying I am a Giants fan and things don't look good for 2008 for a couple of reasons. First of all historically the Giants have never done well in the season after appearing in the Super Bowl. Although of course those were completely different teams from a different era and so this may be slightly different. On the offensive side of the ball, things look good. I think Eli will have a good year but I'll agree with everyone else, last season's playoff run doesn't mean he's now a super star but we know he can come up in big games. Also the Giants possessing a solid running game with Brandon Jacobs, Derrick Ward and Ahmad Bradshaw and a solid offensive line while Plaxico Burress could be even better now that his ankle is healed while Steve Smith should contribute more. However the biggest problem for the club will be two things 1) Losing Osi Umenyiora for the season after getting hurt in the preseaon which was just a devasting loss and I would have felt much better about a chance at repeating if he were able to play this season and too go along with the loss of Kiwaka Mitchell and Gibril Wilson to free agency although on the positive side Sammy Knight has looked great in camp and hopefully Aaron Ross and Corey Webster can continue to elevate their games to make the seconary strong 2) the NFC has several oustanding teams most notably the Dallas Cowboys who will undoubtedly being looking to make up for not making it to the Super Bowl and will play with a chip on their shoulder this season, along with the likes of New Orleans, Seattle along with other possible contenders in Minnesota, Philadelphia, Chicago and Green Bay. Repeating for the Giants is certainly not out of the question but it will be tough.
