This team has cooled a bit in the past month or so. The loss of Plaxico Burress, really their their top offensive weapon, hurts but injuries at RB and along the offensive line have weakened this team's ability to score down the stretch. That's putting more pressure on Eli Manning to win games, but the talent around him might not be good enough.

Defensively, they're still one of the top teams in the league, and that despite the loss of Michael Strahan and Osi Uremyiora during the offseason and in training camp. Their pass rush definitely isn't as strong, but they still have the ability to get it done.

Thre's nothing stopping them from doing it again (unless more of them shoot themselves and wind up in jail!).

I will predict that these guys will be in the SB along with the Titans.

I thought they were going to take a step back this year, I was wrong. They are looking good.

I will start off by saying I am a Giants fan and things don't look good for 2008 for a couple of reasons. First of all historically the Giants have never done well in the season after appearing in the Super Bowl. Although of course those were completely different teams from a different era and so this may be slightly different. On the offensive side of the ball, things look good. I think Eli will have a good year but I'll agree with everyone else, last season's playoff run doesn't mean he's now a super star but we know he can come up in big games. Also the Giants possessing a solid running game with Brandon Jacobs, Derrick Ward and Ahmad Bradshaw and a solid offensive line while Plaxico Burress could be even better now that his ankle is healed while Steve Smith should contribute more. However the biggest problem for the club will be two things 1) Losing Osi Umenyiora for the season after getting hurt in the preseaon which was just a devasting loss and I would have felt much better about a chance at repeating if he were able to play this season and too go along with the loss of Kiwaka Mitchell and Gibril Wilson to free agency although on the positive side Sammy Knight has looked great in camp and hopefully Aaron Ross and Corey Webster can continue to elevate their games to make the seconary strong 2) the NFC has several oustanding teams most notably the Dallas Cowboys who will undoubtedly being looking to make up for not making it to the Super Bowl and will play with a chip on their shoulder this season, along with the likes of New Orleans, Seattle along with other possible contenders in Minnesota, Philadelphia, Chicago and Green Bay. Repeating for the Giants is certainly not out of the question but it will be tough.

I think Eli Manning became the quarterback he was prophesied to be last season. I wouldn't bet on them repeating but in the NFC I wouldn't count them out.

I am still not sold on Eli Manning. They got hot at the right time last year, but I see this team taking a step back.

I know I'm a hater, but I still don't have a ton of confidence in Eli Manning. The Giants got hot at the right time last season, but they aren't a dominant team. Defensively they should lose something with the retirement of Michael Strahan. On the offensive side of the ball, they need to be more consistent. They seem to be pretty confident with Kevin Boss at tight end, but trading away Jeremy Shockey might hurt them over the course of the full season.
