Fish Oil 4

At the suggestion of a nutritionist (I'm not in bad shape, but my cholesterol is higher than it should be), I've started taking fish oil pills, along with B-complex vitamins. Hopefully, they're doing their job, although it's hard to tell at this early stage. By the way...I'm usually not one to "advertise" products...but this nutritionist told me to order the Puritan's Pride Fish Oil pills, which can only be ordered on-line. According to the nutritionist, and the copy on the pill bottle itself, Puritan's Pride is the only brand that is purified to eliminate mercury, which is...obviously...very important, as mercury doesn't leave your system once you've consumed it, and can do some heavy damage if there's enough of it accumulated. The website is: www.puritan.com-- for those who are interested.

Great article! I’m going to give the fish oil a try as many of the deficiency symptoms are things I have had for years. Question: how long does it take to start to see the effects of taking Omega 3 oils?

My doctor recommended that I take Fish Oil for the Omega 3. The enteric coated pills are the only way to go. Recently, I received a recommendation to take Krill Oil instead of regular Fish Oil The Krill Oil is supposed to provide Omega 6 as well as Omega 3 and is supposed to be more bioavailable than Fish Oil. In addition, Krill is supposed to be the most abundant and rapidly renewable sources of marine antioxidants.

I take Omega 3 fish oil supplements, 1200 milligrams. The reason I take these is because I can't stand fish, but yet I know that it is something everybody needs in their diet. These ones are enteric coated, so there is no fishy aftertaste. And they don't come back up, either.

When I was a kid, my mother used to force me to take this stuff by the tea spoon.

And I mean force... Had to hold my nose so I'd open my mouth. I don't recall anything tasting as bad.

In capsule form its not so bad, and yes it has some health benefits, but can surprise you with a nasty aftertaste later in the day.
