They get you cleaner than a normal shower, but they leave you a little bruised and battered.

My wife and I were at my parents' farm a couple months ago or so, and we were lucky enough to see a meteor shower. Mrs. Twan isn't used to seeing such clear skies without any light polution, so even just seeing the Milky Way without too much interference is quite the experience for her. The meteor shower that night was an added bonus.

Never saw one but I could imagine they'd be awesome.

Meteor Showers are fun for people of all ages.  Just about every month of the year there are some really super celestial displays.  They are free, fun and educational.  The best part is there is no special equipment to see them.

By the way those meteors were from the sci-fi movie "starship troopers" sent out by the bugs to rain on santa riding across the universe...santa cried out "ho ho ho oooh"

There is a meteor shower in August that is very nice to watch. You may have to go to an area where the lights are fewer to get the full effect.
