This kind of begs the question, "What is a nerd, anyway?"Depending on your POV, it would seem that every hall (department) in any given high school continually provides a fresh supply with their own brand. Art, English, Science, Music – you name it. Pretty much all produce devotees who are into whatever topic to the exclusion of all else. I use to think the term geek was a synonym for nerd but have since come to the conclusion that it is more of a sub techno species of nerd…all geeks being nerds but all nerds are not necessarily geeks. Whatever the definition or implication, whether someone is labeled and/or identifies with this title or not depends on a lot of factors. Looks, personality, temperament, environment, ability to blend in with the walls or stand out in some way. Nerdism, I would say then, is in the eye of the beholder. Whether anyone has ever beheld me in this way – I don’t know or care.

I kind of wish I was more of a nerd. You really don't see a lot of unsuccessful nerds.

If other nerds consider me nerdy, then I just might be quite a severe case!
