Little known fact, in the original version of the Bible this character was actually called Steve.

Yes, this is the Name of our Heavenly Father and Creator that was given to Moshe to IDENTIFY Him before Pharaoh, but he was not a mere "God". Others here in their ratings have spoken erroneously concerning His Name in that he has many names when Scripture in it's context teaches that He has only one "ALONE" IDENTIFYING Name (Paslms 83:18; 148:13). Note that nowhere in Scripture from where we are to get our doctrine for reproof and correction and instruction in righteousness is He said to have many names and when referring to His Name it is alway in the singular "Name" not names plural. The "many names" that they refer to are merely attributive titles that are attached to His Name or atributive titles on their own. Following is a list explaining these attributive titles attached to His Name and the attributive titles on their own and His Name ALONE (Paslms 83:18; 148:13): YHWH / YAHWEH [Erroneously translated "JEHOVAH “LORD”]: (Deuteronomy 6:4; Daniyl 9:14) – Strictly speaking, the on... In Hebrew, it's spelled YHWH. Most Jews don't attempt to pronounce it. In the 18th century a Hebrew scholar added vowels to make it pronounceable by English-speaking people. Other pronunciations are: "Yahū", "Yehū", "Yehowah" (or "Jehovah") and sometimes shortened to "Yah."

God has many names. Yahweh just doesn't do Him any justice though. It sounds like some name a holier than thou individual would give to him.

Yahweh means I am who I am, basically, or is probably the Canaanite God El, I thought he was a little harsh and egotistical.

    I. . .love. . .big Y.  The O.T. god whose complete horrifying behavior gets glossed over by those far too enamored with the books of the Old Testament.  Bad-ass, flaming shite from heaven, bullying, dominating, homicidal figure who has somehow been giving a wonderful PR clean-up by Jews and Christians alike.  But O.T. fallacies, inconsistencies, and impossibilites aside, big Y is certainly one of the most memorable character/figure in anything I've ever read.  Have an issue?  Flood the shite out of 'em and start over!

Now this is a great character in the Old Testament.  Ill-tempered, capricious, demanding and murderous.  Absolutely fascinating.  I have this image of him saying, like Jules in Pulp Fiction:"Hand me that lightning bolt.  Its the one with "Bad Motherf***er on it."

Yahweh is another name for God. Most Jews will not say this name aloud; they believe it is too sacred to be spoken.

Yahweh is the name of God, given for the first time to Moses when he asked Him who is the God of Israel that demands His people to be freed. God has created science and can explain everything. Science did not create God and there are too many things it cannot explain. Give Him an honest chance and you'll be amazed. But, be honest.
