 | PTRoxieMisha (3) 11/26/2004 | Ballet - or any kind of dance in general - should NEVER, EVER be made into an Olympic sport because dance (esepcially ballet) is, was, and always will be an art form. Sadly, with the cheesy dance competitions nowadays (I'm not talking about Varna or the Russian Pointe comps, but the small regional and national making glitzy moneymakers that Dolly Dinkles always participate in), way too many people think ballet and dance are all about tricks and become disappointed when they start taking serious classes and realize that no one starts a beginning class with multiple turns, big leaps, etc. Dance, especially ballet, is about TECHNIQUE AND ARTISTRY, not tricks and acrobatics. So that's my opinion. I never want to see dance as part of the Olympics.
