Seems that the writer of this list has no idea what serving in the Armed Forces is. When you volunteer, you accept the conditions of the party you volunteer. You sign a contract for several years of service and you abide by the laws and rules of the branch you volunteer for. If every soldier had the right to choose whether to do what you committed yourself to do or not, there would be no armies anywhere in the world. You volunteer, you join you serve, period. Another wrong, misleading and to a point ill willed lie circulating around is that we got into Iraq for the oil. Thus far, not a single barrel of Iraqui oil has entered the U.S. So the insinuation is simply a lie aimed at deceiving the American people.

It's wrong to force people into war. But if you fool them, they have only themselves to blame.

Who got forced? Hillary and Kerry voted to go to war as did a majority of the Democrats and the citizens of the USA voted them in to power. Our Soldiers know the risk when the voluntary enlist so who got forced into war? All men are created equal - and if this is what America believes then why do we allow someone else in another country to not have the freedom we have and to live under a dictating tyrant?

Saddam may or my not have dreamt of War with the U.S.(we'll probably NEVER know),but the PEOPLE of Iraq did not want it.WE "brought it to them",and now of course we have created the "insurgency" that costs countless American and Iraqui lives each day.Iraq had NOTHING-zero-zip-nada to do with 9/11,as even Dubbaya has finally been forced to admit. Now they're trying to "spin" it that we did it all for the Liberty of the Iraqi People....B.S.! You do not go about "liberating" people by blowing them up and killing them en masse.

Who got forced? The majority of people supported going to war. Its funny how bad our memories suck. As to military personel, I heard somewhere that USMC really means U Signed the Motherf***in' Contract. So this objector crap and the "I only joined for the college money" garbage doesn't fly with me. The guy who filed for objector status and refused to deploy deserves his court martial.

I think its wrong to be forced into war because it goes against everything our country supposedly stands for. If we are forced to fight for our freedom, are we really free?- It sound more like terrorism camp to me.

This war is flat wrong for many reasons. I strongly disagree that oil or Halliburton was the cause. Quite frankly, that economic argument would make more sense than the present idea. I think that our president has adopted the catastrophically bad Woodrow Wilson philosophy that we are going to shove democracy down everyones' throat whether they want it or not. This is in an area that never has known free institutions. Also I think that the president is a Christian Dispensationalist and there is a strange alliance here that feels that to bring on the End Times, that the Mideast must be upset so certain prophecy passages in the Bible are met according to the dispensationalist interpretation. If any hollering is to be done about separation of church and state, this certainly should be explored. It is not in the national interest of the USA that the entire balance of power in the Mideast be upset for this rather arcane reason. If you don't believe me, leave MTV for a while and watch... Common Sense folks. Why you VOLUNTEER to sign up for the military, you are taking a chance that you will one day fight in a war. Common sense. As for the draft, its Democrat Chuck Rangel who is trying to bring it back.

I don't think that there is anything wrong with this. People joined the military for various reasons, maybe never expecting to have to go to war, but a war is here and they must go. The draft is a sham and Mr. Political is right in that it is mainly supported by the Dems to make the Republicans look bad. They're doing the same crap, so don't feel bad for them. Furthermore, I don't believe in the implementing the draft, rather I believe in a mandatory draft for every US citizen regardless of whether there is a war or not. I believe everyone should have to serve in the army and be forced to begin acquiring an associates degree while doing it or a GED if they don't have that yet. It ensures that the rich have just as much to lose as the poor by sending America's youth off to die. I bet Bush would have let the inspections work had his daughters been in the military, same with the Congress. This is, in my opinion the only democratic way to handle the military. It removes issues of race, eth... Read more

I feel sad when I think of all the valuable young men and women who were sacrificed for this war for oil and contracts for Haliburton. Just think what they could have contributed to the world, and how their spouses and families must feel. As far as the draft is concerned, I can't think of any war that would merit draft-dodging more than this one. I'm just glad I'm too old to go, and if anyone even mentioned sending me, I'd bring up my bad back and my less than stellar eyesight! UPDATE: I don't know any Democrat who supports a draft, and no Democrat would support a draft for the Iraq war. Most Democrats see that war for the waste of time and energy it is.

This would actually make sense if the people who were sent to Iraq were forced to go. The Bush adminstration (and most republicans) strongly oppose a draft. Democrats, however, want to re-instate the draft and then say Bush is secretly trying to have a back door draft! UPDATE TO SCARLETFEATHER: Congressman Xavier Becerra (D-CA), Charles Rangel (D-NY), and Senator Fritz Hollings (D-S.C) all are currently FOR a draft, read your news!
