Without a doubt one of the last of the best ball parks. The new renovations are an amazing addition and the food has been upgraded to +10. Short lines for concessions and bathrooms.. a must visit stadium in the most beautiful setting!

nice park, bad security and cheap owner.

It's been a few years since I've been but I remember thinking how nothing stood out about this place. An average park inside & out and yes difficult to get to and from with traffic. Dodger fans have the rep as being the epitome of passive baseball fan, but in all fareness I have noticed little difference amongst Rockies, Diamondback, Pardre and Giant fans.

Dodger Stadium is where I saw my first MLB baseball game at the age of seven when they hosted the Houston ASTros in July of 1980 with my father and my best friend and his father. This was once the best ball park in baseball, but with the emergence of several new ball parks since the "new ball park" explosion which began in the 1990's. It has also changed a great deal but it is still an oustanding ball park and will get a five rating. It's main structure consists of five decks going from foul pole to foul pole and the bleachers. In the year 2000, a premium home plate section was added which advertised fans in those seats were closer to the batter then the pitcher was. Dodger Stadium gives you a nice relaxing field, with the blue outfield walls and a beautifully kept playing field, although there are now advertisments on the walls and in the 2006, the team added more seats in the first base and third base foul territories. It is also hard to describe but when you go to Dodger Stadium there is a very fun atmosphere in the stands that other stadiums that I have been to (Angels Stadium, Petco Park) don't seem to have. I think one reason is because of the Diamondvision in left field, which is one of the best in all of sports as it gives you replays, highlights of other games around baseball and other sports as well, and gives you comedy videos, stats, player profiles and historical baseball footage. The food options are not great, but fans have always loved Dodger Dogs, nachos, peanuts, sodas and ice cream. In 1991 however, the Dodgers went to Marriot food services and the club brought in outside fast food chains such as Taco Bell, Pizza Hut and now also features Carl's Junior, Subway and TCBY frozen yogurt. In terms of baseball, the park has always been a pitcher park since it was constructed however it is become more of a hitters bark as the club moved home plate up to ten feet in the 1960's and the club has taken away a lot of foul territory with the addition of new seats. And for some reason, since 1999 the number of home runs have increased dramatically. However as Reviewer Kevinthemanharris has also stated in his review there are problems. There is a huge parking lot but there can be some crazy traffic jams after games, and the food options are not as great as other ball parks but its still ok, although he hasn't mentioned there are more options then he stated. The otufield bleachers are benches without individual seating and you are restricted to what areas where your seat is thus you can not get autographs unelss you are sitting on the field level seats. However the postives far outweight the positives and although Dodger Stadium is not the best ball park in baseball today like it once was it is still a great park and I encourage anyone who has the chance to go and see a ball game there.

Parking is a complete mess. Food options are terrible. hotdogs, peanuts, and nachos...not too creative. I dont get why anyone makes a big deal out of the dodger dog....its a hotdog. outfield bleachers are wooden and uncomfortable. You arn't allowed to explore the ballpark, you're stuck in whatever section your seat is. No shade on the upper deck.

This ballpark was ahead of its time and still looks fantastic. I believe this is the fourth oldest ballpark in the majors, behind Yankee, Fenway, and Wrigley, but still outshines many of the "throwback" parks recently built. The best part of the park is that there is no obstructed seats...it was built into a side of the hill which means no need for support beams blocking your view. The place is always clean, the field is perfectly cut, and traditional organ music outshines the modern day hip-hop, computerized music most parks play. A classic atmosphere that you'd would not expect in trendy LA. Make it a point to see it at least once...you will never forget it.

A 1960s classic ... good views from any level and decent concessions ... can't miss a Dodger dog! The stadium is still as good as most of the newer ones. Even the upper deck (not the upper upper red deck) is a good place to watch a game.
BelAirZ 04/19/2007
Beautiful park; classic, but very well kept. Is the basis in design for all of the new stadiums that are being built now, but since it is 45 years old, carries on the tradition of the players that have played there. Kudos to the Dodgers for updating the stadium yet keeping it for future fans to enjoy! It is the most unique park in Baseball; even my buddy who sees 40 games a year at Wrigley couldn't believe how amazing it was.
elysianpark62 03/21/2007
Riiiiiiight, the fans are SO blase and lacking knowledge that they show up to the tune of three-million plus annually for years on end. How do you explain that?! It must be because there is NOTHING else to do in southern California and they just figure, "What the heck, I'll spend my hard-earned money on a baseball game/team I care nothing about!"
The Dodgers are the highest-drawing team in MLB history, and of course, that does include Brooklyn. But this is the Dodgers' 50th season in Los Angeles, so that says a lot.
It's much easier for people to hang onto stereotypes than to use reasoning. The main reason that SOME people arrive late and try to leave early is the increasingly worse parking situation, particularly for those without season seats. I have gone to games for 36 years now (because I had nothing better to do). The problem has been worsening for several years, but the team is trying to make major parking improvements.
But go ahead and keep insisting the fans are uninterested (not "disinterested") and don't know anything about baseball, especially since announcers comment on it like lemmings. It won't cost you any objectivity or reasoning.

Beautiful field, nice stadium, Dodger Dogs are great, just wish all the fans would come on time and stay 'til the end of the game.
GenghisTheHun 04/06/2006
It is starting to show its age, but still a great place to watch a game. It still drives me crazy about the fickle fans leaving so early.
Ca$ino 11/13/2005
Baseball is baseball in Chavez Ravine. No gimmicks needed.
DodgerDre 08/17/2005
What can I say, it's home to me. Attended my first baseball game there on my 8th birthday in August of '82. Not enough words for me to describe this jewel, great views from just about anywhere in the stadium, be it the San Gabriel mountains, the downtown skyline, the colorful decks that give Dodger Stadium it's distinct look, unlike most stadiums who don the traditional green or blue seats. And lot's of history too. My 3 favorite moments here... 9/30/83 Dodgers clinch NL West division against Giants 10/3/93 Dodgers knock Giants outta playoffs with 12-1 win, leaving the hated ones 1 game behind Atlanta, in spite of Giants 100 plus win season 10/2/04 Steven Finleys walk off grand slam against Giants wins NL West Noticing a pattern here?
Alexg681 02/04/2005
I'm a Dodger fan and I like Dodger Stadium but I don't think it's great like some of the new stadiums. But it's a nice stadium and I'm not asking for a new stadium, but if they get a new stadium I won't complain about that either. It's true that Dodger Dogs are the best hot dogs.
irishgit 01/07/2005
Nice park, moron fans. Folks who arrive in the second inning and leave in the eighth aren't really fans.
SenyorM 09/12/2004
I love it because you have to actually go to a game to be able to see the stadium. It's used for baseball only, not one of those multi-purpose, retractable roof things. It's tucked away in Chavez Ravine like a hidden gem. I've been coming to Dodger Stadium for over 30 years. It was the one place my dad and I actually got along. Now I take my 2 sons who are learning to love it too. Dodger Dogs are the best in the bigs. The field is immaculate--voted the best playing surface by major leaguers.
OneHungryMonst er 08/25/2004
Nice park.
jaymcb 07/31/2004
I really had a great time here. The fans were fun, the ballpark is old but has history to it. The sight lines were good. The only thing good about the hot was the name. I always thought a dodger dog would be something special.
Gobaseball 02/21/2004
Well what can i say the BEST ballpark in baseball...it looks even better than some of the new ones being built... If you want to have a good family outing i recommend Dodger Stadium it's so colorfull.
BarkinJ 01/30/2004
- cleanest park in MLB - picturesque setting - adequate parking - great food - cheap tickets - family atmosphere - loyal fans (forget the get there late, leave early myth) - Nancy Bea Hefly on the Dodger Stadium organ
Todd Parker 12/18/2003
Horribly outdated stadium with tacky architecture typical of the 1960's. Those player portraits on the walls are truly horrendous also. If you like smog and ignorant disinterested fans, come visit Dodger Stadium. A true hell-hole.
andyjay 09/12/2003
I don't like the Dodgers but this park is gorgeous. Even up in the nosebleeders, there are benefits with the views-the upper deck face the mountains, and when you leave you can see the LA skyline. Plus Dodger Dogs are famous in SoCal, and the quirky '60s "futuristic" architecture (from when people thought the cities of the future would look like the old Tomorrowland or The Jetsons) adds greatly to the aesthetics.
TGFWASP 09/10/2003
Good, well-maintained venue with a great looking field and a lovely setting. The food is mediocre and expensive, but overall an attractive, refreshingly gimmick-free stadium. Also a plus: not called a "ballpark" (always thought that sounded stupid), and still named for the team.

I'm a transplanted Midwesterner in L.A., but in the few years I've been here I've come to love Dodger Stadium as one of my favorite things about this city. I go to other parks now and they just make me appreciate Chavez Ravine all the more. Here's why: - clean, uncluttered, pure baseball park - great sightlines - beautiful views of the mountains, especially from the top deck - inexpensive: $6 for decent seats behind home in the top deck (that's where the true fans sit - the ones keeping score), only $10 for better seats on the reserved level; no other stadium can touch this! - the most diverse crowd in the major leagues - not much advertising, not a lot of bells and whistles, no faux 1920's unusual outfield config, no high powered sound system, just a great organist and a classic PA announcer - right in the middle of the city (and only ten minutes from my place!), surrounded by the hills of Elysian Park - the sunsets Now, if the Dodgers could just score some runs...
Bryght 07/16/2003
Best damn park in baseball and I've been to no fewer than 16 different professional parks in my lifetime. Many championships have been won at Chavez Ravine and it's in a quality area of the city...I grew up a few miles away! The world famous Dodger Dog is the most purchased ballpark frank in America, and the Coca-Cola isn't watered down like at most fields. A true pitchers park for the best damn team in the world!
de la sean 07/05/2003
old, falling apart, outdated, get a new one
sickair04 06/29/2003
you cant beat the palm trees in the background at chavez and a nice dodger dog

I'm old enough that I have attended Dodger games since 1958. The Coliseum was a football field highly unsuitable for baseball. It had a 250' left field wall with a huge screen behind it. Anything would have been better. So, when Dodger Stadium came along it was great. In fact, it still is great. It's the friendliest place you can go for a ball game. Fans for the most part are tolerant of out of town fans. Though, I must admit, I heard about some out of town fans getting bloody noses for wearing the other teams hats and being a little too happy after beating the Dodgers. It's always a great place for Dodger fans!

Jsulli8040 02/23/2003
It's real baseball, outdoors, cheap seats, and the Dodger Dog. Very clean stadium after all these years and there is no stadium even close.
gopman79 01/05/2003
Overrated. You know how you can go to a stadium and looks different than it does on TV??? This stadium looks exactly the same as it does on TV, the color scheme is awful, the only thing good is the Dodger Dogs.
dtejsk;s 06/26/2002
this place is fantastic!
Chango 06/17/2002
Just Baseball! Not my favorite team but it's my favorite stadium.
bait 06/11/2002
The best stadium for baseball. Very few adds, clean staduim, and nice sightlines. The veiw at night is one of a kind. Also unlike every other stadium except Yankee stadium this stadium was built by the team for the team. NO PUBLIC MONEY! No tax for a stupid a stadium. All the other teams in the various leagues should take note. Also, 3 million plus fans a year can't be wrong. Can't change levels? To bad next time buy a better ticket. They let you move into the cheaper levels not the other way. The best stadium for baseball since the 1960's, why? That's all you get, baseball. No fountains, harbors, pools, fake rocks, hotels, retractable roofs, or carpet. Play ball!
rater 01/18/2002
Very bad stadium! Terrible!!
ballparkdude 08/13/2001
I really do not like Dodger Stadium, this park isn't where baseball was ment to be played. True ballparks are ment to be played in downtown next to many buildings. This place is surrounded by parking lots and sits on mountain which is right in the middle of LA's smog layer. True ballparks are also ment to have a grand entrance; since this place is cut into a mountain, it doesn't even have a home plate entrance. And if you get the cheap seats( the two sets of bleachers and the fifth level) you are not allowed to roam the stadium. And one last thing, Dodger Dogs taste like any other ballpark hotdog. If you haven't noticed yet, I hate the Dodgers and their stadium. GO GIANTS!!!
Deftones4ever 05/12/2001
Its a really cool field! I defenitly am gonna go back someday! Just hafta get some money to go on another west coast trip! I went to a sellout last season LA vs. SF, and it was a classic! Bonds hit a 3 run shot to put the Giants up 5-3 but the Dodgers won it off a three run shot of their own in the bot of the 8th! Very good sightlines.
Oppy187 04/04/2001
Best park of the so called "middle ages". The scenic backdrop and the cleanliness of the park make it a great place to watch a game, too bad it is home to the worst fans in baseball.
JRobelen 03/11/2001
Dodger pride still hangs in the fresh air that flows through the stands. Too bad they can't fill the seats.
jay.7019om 05/31/2000
A classic... Baseball, the sun, and Dodger Dogs. Who needs anything else?

My boyfriend is an absolute die hard Dodger fan. Dodger stadium is old, but it has a lot of history. No other stadium beats a Dodger dog.

Ok ... great views but out of the way.
LEPO77OM 10/26/1999
Of all the ballparks I've been to, Dodger Stadium is my favorite because of its scenic backdrop.
