I recently was in the Toronto Reference Library and happened upon a Baseball almanac from a couple of years ago.  As I am wont to do, i found my self leafing idly through the tome.

Upon reaching the list of all time home run leaders I quickly noticed that someone had added a hand written asterisk beside Bond's name (he was fifth or sixth on the list at the time), at the bottom of the page....

Our editor was impartial, McGwire, Palmeiro and a few others had their asterisks as well.   Where's Kennesaw Mountain Landis when you need him????

  One of the greatest scenes in moviedom.  It was the music that made it great.  Hitler loved Wagner too.

    It was the little things in this scene that I remember.  The look that passes over the Chief's face when the music starts, Duval's call sign of "Big Duke 6", the charming pilot euphamism of going to "check it out" - meaning going to "blast it to sh*t", the venom in the ones pilots voice when he says he's going to get that "savage" that grenaded the medevac helo.

  This movie made me ache.  The ending was just too much, a few manly tears were shed.

    The football scene was great, loved how the hard ass coach insisted the sides choose a real pro soccer teams to emulate in their sad little pick up game.
