I got to believe that people either love or hate "The Dukes Of Hazzard". I'm probably the relatively rare take it or leave it, but I will say that the earlier years (as is typical of almost all television series) were clearly the best, as the writing and concept was still fresh. With all the tired southern stereotypes and clichés that were the foundation for the show, in my opinion it was Sorrell Booke as Boss Hogg and the timely humorous narration that made the show. Of course the series also put the term "Daisy Dukes" in the common lexicon, and I bet that if it weren't for the recent film adaptation most of the younger generation wouldn't even from know where the term originated. Nevertheless, I consider "The Dukes Of Hazzard" more of an 80's show, so the series drops down from three to two stars for this list.

Not a bad show, but I'm rounding down since I could never consistently get into "The Jeffersons". This series (another spin-off from "All In The Family") was obviously a reversal of "Good Times", as it portrayed a nouveau riche African-American family. One of the problems I had was the persistent stereotyping, and the producers missed an opportunity to be more groundbreaking in my opinion. I will say that Paul Benedict as the English neighbor Harry Bentley provided a different comedic spin for the show, but Marla Gibbs (as Florence) was relied on too heavily in the latter years of the series. Of course, it goes without saying that "The Jeffersons" did have one of the greatest theme songs.

Being still relatively new to eBay, my experience is a bit limited (and only as a buyer). The site has some nice features (that are probably also on the competitors), like saved searches, a watch list, and the integration with PayPal. For the most part my experiences have all been good to great; however, I did have one seller ship an item that wasn't as advertised. The site does have a resolution process (a nice touch) that was resolved in my favor, but I was instructed to return the item at my expense prior to a refund (which makes no sense to me). Not only that, the seller threatened to close the account to prohibit my refund. When informed of this, neither eBay or PayPal seemed to take any interest. All this, and I think the seller had a good rating. The bottom line is that it's still a buyer beware world on eBay.

Things may have changed since my visit, but Beijing is very polluted. In fact, after a couple of days I lost my voice from breathing in the particulates that one can easily see as a haze throughout the city. Nevertheless with all of its sights, Beijing was easily worth the trouble. The city holds many of China's landmark spots that a foreigner normally wants to see (e.g. the Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven, and Tiananmen Square) as well as a short drive to the Great Wall (even if that section has been largely rebuilt). Take a surgical type mask for breathing, but definitely visit Beijing if one has the chance.

As a Tar Heel, I'm a bit biased, but even with that said, Dean Smith easily deserves a five star rating. Smith was hired after North Carolina was put on probation, yet he built the model for a clean and successful program. One that not only won on the court much more often than not, but also graduated its players. Smith's teams almost always finished in the top two spots in the ACC and reached the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Tournament during a time when the competition was much stronger than in prior eras. Impressive as his record, as noted in prior comments Dean Smith is also responsible for several innovations in the college game (e.g. the four corners, tired signals, and the run and jump defense), and he's also credited for pushing for the racial integration of southern universities.

Perhaps I'm missing something, but I doubt that the effective ingredients are that much different between the anti-perspirants, so price tends to be a factor of hype and brand. If my experience is accurate, then we're talking about deciding among strength, scent, and application (i.e. gel, stick, etc). With that said, Gillette puts out a strong product at a reasonable price. This is my day-to-day gel, and it seems to work long enough to get through my after work exercise, the scent is mild yet pleasant, and the gel goes on smooth.

I'd have to say that the book is still out on Colin Powell's political career. While I would say that his tenure as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff was relatively successful, his turn at Secretary of State was a mixed bag at best. I'm guessing that the Left likes Powell claiming that he bailed on the Bush Administration, and likewise the Right for bringing some high positioned color to the Republicans. In my opinion, the truth is that Powell, as a military man, was ill suited for the State Department, and he would have better served the Bush Administration as Secretary of Defense. Insiders have claimed that Powell lost most of his disputes between State and Defense, and if true this suggests that he was relatively ineffective in his role as Secretary. While I'm willing to cut Powell some slack given the circumstances, the bottom line is that his political career has been too short to really merit more than three stars.

It is hard to rate The B-52's higher than three stars as the band was in many ways a gimmick. This is not to say that The B-52's were not entertaining or not worth a listen, but when compared to other artists, the band's rating must suffer. In the big picture, the band book-ended their career with their two best releases: the self-titled debut in 1979 (with "Dance This Mess Around" and "Rock Lobster") and 1989's Cosmic Thing (with "Love Shack" and "Roam"), though Good Stuff was released afterwards without Cindy Wilson. Of course the middle releases contained some great singles such as "Private Idaho" from Wild Planet. The bottom line is that the B-52's were an okay to good, but not a great alternative band.

As some other reviewers noted, the Miller Lite "Man Law" ad campaign has lots of potential. Men actually do have some (often unstated) rules of ethics that we all just seem to know, and these commercials have so much potential for humor and commonality. Though obviously aimed at male beer drinkers, I figure even women will find these ads interesting, as I'll bet that they will see something of their boyfriends and husbands in these characters. Haven't seen these spots in some time, though perhaps they will return with football season.

Clearly a landmark animated series, "Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids" was the first cartoon that I can remember that featured minority charcters. The success of the series must be mostly attributed to Bill Cosby's wit and talents as a comedian that cross racial lines. This all goes to evidence that quality programming will usually succeed not withstanding prejudice and the then objections to an educational show.
