Two days ago I had never heard of Sarah palin, so I'll forego any long pros or cons - I know as much or as little as anyone else who has commented.  I have only a couple of cemments:  First, it seems that a lot of the Democratic put-downs indicate a fear that just maybe she's the type of person who might be able to rip Joe Biden a new one in a one-on-one confrontation.  Second, as others have stated already, this business that the Dems are pushing of her being a "heartbeat away" from the Presidency and having no experience is clever in one way - subliminally, it sends a message that McCain is old and can go any minute.  Of course, it ignores the fact that the Dems are skipping a step completely and want to elect someone with no experience right off the bat, so I don't see where the lack of experience issue is hurting the McCain team.  It's still true that Obama has as little experience as he had before Palin was announced.  And for those who take pot shots at Palin because she was the mahyor of a town of 5,00 (or 9,00, or whatever), even leaving aside the fact that they ignore her time as governor, how many of them have ever been responsible for anything more than just themselves or their own family.  OK, one more thing to think about - if it is true that she has an 80% approval rating in Alaska, it's gotta mean that there are a lot of Democrats who think she's OK.  Have a nice day, whoever you're for.

True Parmesan cheese (Parmigiano Reggiano), the stuff from the region around Parma in Italy (not the sawdust that Kraft and others pass off as grated Parmesan) is one of the best cheeses ever.  A nice chunk of it with fresh Italian bread is a real taste treat.  I once visited a dairy outside Parma where they make the stuff - it was unbelievable.  Talk about an old industry using high-tech equipment and traditional methiods at the same time.  too long to explain everything here, but suffice it to say the early part of the process still uses a guy (or gal) processing the milk, but the latter satages of the process use robotic vechicles to turn over the cheese rounds during the curing and aging process.  I'm getting hungry just thinking about it.

I tried Earthlink for a couple of months, and all I had was trouble.  E-mail was totally hosed, and I couldn't get a decent explanation as to what was wrong from their support people.  I highly unrecommend it.

Perhaps my expectations and needs are minimal compared to those of others, but I'm pretty happy with MSN.  I have experienced few problems, and find that overall I get what I need from MSN.  It's somewhat more user-friendly (at least to this user) than my alternate ISP (dejazzd, my DSL provider).  I see no reason to go elsewhere.

It'll be interesting to see how well Romney does against McCain on Super Tuesday.  At this point, he does seem to embody more of the Reagan Republican values than does McCain, he's younger, more energetic, and probably more well-rounded than McCain.  He sure looks more presidential than McCain (yeah, I know that's shallow, but he does).  Is he electable against Obama or the Clintons (plural used deliberately)?  Who knows - this has been an interesting campaign all around so far.

Huckabee comes across to me as being the most honest and sincere of all of the candidates, Republican or Democrat.  Given a chance to speak, he's much more articulate that his "Ole Boy" image would lead you to expect.  I think he has a fundamental grasop of the issues and, if elected (although it's highly unlikely he'll even be the Republican nominee), I believe that he'd tackle some of our major problems with common sense, enthusiasm, and perseverance.  Too bad he didn't have "brand name recognition" going into the race.

Until last night's debate, I was fairly supportive of McCain, but I think he's taking cheap shots at Romney over the "timetable" misquote.  Romney explained himself well, gave the full background, and was validated by the CNN host (a minor miracle in itself).  McCain could have let it go gracefully, but no, he kept on bringing it up again and again in a snide way.  He's showing himself to be intellectually dishonest, and unjustifiably stubborn over something he'e wrong about, and he's doing it, in my opinion, just to try to score points.  His credibility went down more than a few notches.  I truly respect what he did in serving his country and the hardship he endured while in captivity, but it's beginning to sound like all he wants to talk about is his military service.  I wouldn't want to see him nominated (or elected) just on the strengtof that.

I'm probably going against conventional wisdom, but i think Bill Murray is common, crude, overrated, and bordering on the mediocre.  I would not willingly watch any of his movies - the few that I did endure were quite enough.

Cage has a reputation for being a bit wild, if not outright crazy.  I can see it it some of his films.  His performance in "Moonstruck" was great (it shows a bit of his crazy side), and "Captain Corelli's Mandolin" was a pretty good role as well.

A consistently good actor who can play really bad bad guys ("Die Hard", whichever one it was, and the TV movie with Tom selleck in Australia) and the shy good guy type (Sense and Sensibility).  I have never been disappointed with any of his performances.
