"Conservatives say if you don't give the rich more money, they will lose their incentive to invest. As for the poor, they tell us they've lost all incentive because we've given them too much money."

George Carlin

I'd be even more impressed if the practice of evolution were taught in schools.

I'd say that I hold it in no higher or lower regard than any other dues charging social group, fraternity or service organization.

I think its wrong to judge an entire community based on the behaviour of its worst members. There's some pretty out-there members of Rotary International, I'm led to believe. I also know lots of people from Toronto who aren't bloated morons who are in denial about their addiction issues.

I was admittedly glib in my review and maybe even intentionally provocative, if for no other reason to say 'hi' to you.

At home we eat quite well, with the possible exception of my one kid who is working in the restaurant industry and eating a lot of convenience and junk food partially due to her irregular work hours and partially out of late teen laziness - and frankly her habits are catching up to her - we assume she will learn better soon enough. I digress.

My wife grew up on a farm, the second generation descendant of Mennonite immigrants who made everything from scratch and wasted none of it. That which wasn't eaten at today's meal was the stuff in tomorrow's stew or borscht. She shops around the perimeter of the grocery store where the produce, dairy and baking is stocked and consciously tries to very selectively go down the middle aisles where things are packaged in cardboard, plastic and metal containers. Its a simple rule but surprisingly effective.

The fresh stuff is generally washed before it is prepared. We maybe use the can opener once a week. The most common items in the pantry that are in tins are chick peas, lentils and tomato paste - in fact that might be all of it. Dessert is served twice a week max. Wine is served with most meals for its healthful benefits.

That said, we are 'known' at Carlos and Murphy's where the ingredients of the carne picante are a complete mystery and at Obie Khan's Shawarma Khan you'd have to be crazy to ask the proprietor if his menu is organic.

Buddie the Terrier's diet is vet recommended, though not home made. He's not really much of a foodie anyway, sometimes his morning serving is still in the dish after our supper. It's gone by the next morning though. He's way more into repetitive exercise rituals than food. I've never met such a creature of habit.

Hope the winter is a mild one for you so far.

At their best they were both great actors who could play it straight or for a laugh, capable of understated performances or over the top characterizations.

Newman has a broader and more varied resume, probably with more box office hits. Brando's body of work however includes some of the most iconic films and performance of his generation.

I've survived another day. The stuff I ate yesterday didn't do me in. Nor did the stuff from last Thanksgiving, or St. Patrick's Day.

Even if it's killing me slowly I'm reasonably confident I will make it to see the release of the next Bond film and have no regrets about the better shawarma and micro beer I've enjoyed so far.

Moore has the ability to make a point using laughter whereas Limbaugh has a gift for making a point that is laughable. At the end of the day though, both are singing to their respective congregations.

I'd suggest taking a five person basketball team, adding a sixth player to guard the net, equipping them like football players, adding some of the rules of soccer but with a much smaller goal space and making them wear skates and play on ice.

It's entirely probable that the research is non-existent due to the fact that the minimum wage is rarely, if ever, systematically increased to keep pace with consumer prices, let alone increased at a pace greater than that.

To conduct a study demonstrating the effectiveness of 'generosity', you would need some data that includes 'generosity'.
