First of all, I have owned a Microsoft Xbox 360 Elite Edition for 2-3 years. I have, for the most part, been an xbox guy over all other competitors systems. Never had any problems until I noticed my system slowing and freezing up a lot. I tried resolving this by adding an intercooler. This probably went away for a year or so and shortly after I noticed the xbox would freeze longer and I would have to run/operate the intercooler at all times and I still had issues. The next issue was all of a sudden, I turned my xbox on and got an error message saying I could not connect to my wireless router. I kept trying a few times and noticed the startup took about 5-10 minutes longer than usual to show the main menu before I could go to the settings. I looked on Microsoft's website and found that a few problems could've been my wireless router, connection to the xbox, router settings and nearby devices as well as DOS(Denial of Service.) I read more into this issue and found that if the problem was I had my xbox attacked and was not recieving service from my router, then in this case all wireless network devices in my household would not be functional without service. My laptop and phone were working off the router without any problems. I then came upon the storage settings to find my xbox live account corrupted and I had lost all settings and personal games and downloads. I tried contacting Microsoft but could not get any answers from tech support. I was and still am unsure if my account was corrupted from being hacked, deleted or when I attempted to change email addresses and passwords as I had forgotten about those. In addition, I followed instructions on an answering site stating to delete the live account and download it as if you were recovering it from a friends house however to my suprise, an offline account was "corrupted". Now I am unsure if it is the xbox doing this or hard drive. I cleaned the inside and outside of the xbox and only found dust, which was expected. However after I had followed instructions by other users who had their profiles do the same thing, I got a message saying,"Can't connect to xbox live without update. Update is temporalily unavailable." I couldn't play any games on the "Games" section of the home screen, only ones that I had discs for. I couldn't play live or play on another account with live. I then proceeded to check system storage until I saw that the hard drive on the xbox was unformatted and was not working at all. I tried formatting it and it did nothing. So I had lost everything on my xbox including friends, profile, games and add-ons I had purchased. I do not suggest going with an xbox, I have never had this problem before but I am beyond frustrated. I couldn't get in contact with tech support either to find out how it could be resolved or what the issues were that caused me to lose all game data. If your looking at any kind of systems, I would go with a PS3. I own a Playstation and have never had these kinds of issues. Although the system has been hacked a few times, I have never lost data, accounts, purchases or any forms of media. Retrieving your account or making changes to it is easier and they are easier to contact tech support if there are any issues. It could've just been my xbox but since I had lost everything and couldn't get any help or answers. I'd say that this is bad customer service, my original xbox still works and I've played it the same amount of time and have owned it longer too. Never again will I purchase an xbox or product from Microsft.
