I would give this thing a "6" if I could. I bought it new in 1986. I have abused this thing to pieces. I didn't do any mechanical repairs until it had 70k on at, at which time it needed its first replacement tires. When I had them put on the wrench said the alignment was still right on. I never had an alignment until after 100k. I did no repairs at all except brakes, tires, and exhaust until about 3 years ago, I had a clutch put in. To my suprise the clutch was only half worn. Two years ago I put a clutch cylander on. Last year, the alternator quit. It was still working, but the housing cracked and caused the bearing to seize. It took me about an hour to put an alternator on it which costed me about sixty bucks.
Thank God I didn't buy an american made truck. I hear guys talk about how bad toyotas rust. If Fords and Chevys lasted long enough to rust, they would too. The only reason Toyotas rust is that ALL metal rusts when it gets really really old, and Toyotas get to be very very old sitting in driveways and going down roads, not in junk yards.
I will never own another american car as long as I live. I can't afford the upkeep on them.
