Self induced vomiting definitely changes the way you feel. I got started in the trap and now don't want to stop... so DON"T START!!! Purging is very addictive. Feeling anxious or angry, a purge shivers it all away- for a little while. Don't ever start, take it from me. Your teeth will thank you.

I guess, but never in a "pleasant" or euphoric way. I started suffering migraine headaches at the age of 9 or 10, and it was absolutely the worst, most agonizing suffering I've ever experienced. It was a few years before I was properly diagnosed, and I had no idea during those early years what exactly it was I was suffering from (my parents thought I was malingering to stay out of school...although my agonized writhing on the bed should have set them straight-- I wasn't that good of an actor; my grandmother thought I ate too many rich foods-- even my pediatrician didn't seem to know. Besides giving you a close up view of the toilet bowl, I'm not sure what consciousness is being altered here...

Vomit long enough and hard enough and you'll pass out. So, yes, it might work.

No kidding! Dr. Weil (mentioned in the list intro) argues that vomitting is used in Yogic and Native American rituals, and points out that barfing "massively invokes the parasympathetic neverous system," which can have "pleasing effects" on respiration, heart rate, and "lacrimation" (producing tears). It might also be a way to get rid of unwanted emotions and patterns. Weil says that he can testify that the result of self induced vomitting "is indeed a feeling of well being." Yeah, tell that to your suffering bolemic. They feel great about themselves.
