I am so disappointed with Rita Cosby. Her new book is complete trash. In my opinion, she went from legitimate news journalist to trailer-trash gossip. The book is full of false and inaccurate stories that shes trying to pass off as fact. Im pretty confident that over the next couple of months all of her sources will crumble and she will be completely discredited.

Never liked her, I prefer Nancy Grace over her. She listens to rumors and prints them in her new book. Does not sound like a honest journalist.

I'm just so f'--kin' pissed that people in the public media take advantage of people for their own PERSONAL gain. Rita Cosby is nothing but a sleazy reporter who does not get her facts right. Her new book Blonde Ambition about Anna Nicole Simth, is nothing but trash. I hope she gets sued and gets whats coming to her. Both Vergie and Rita are pieces of CRAP! Can't wait for Karma to slap her right in the face... TRASH,TRASH,TRASH...

Rita has stopped straining her voice as before. I doubt that it was physical, but rather, trying to sound "different", in a business overcrowded with people trying to outdo each other. She may have gone to a voice coach. She also got rid of the red outfits that she wore every day.

Wow. I am so relieved to find these comments. I too thought I was being too critical; As an official news junkin - msnbc in particular - i too was tripping over myself to either change the channel or turn off the TV when she came on. I figured she must be some very powerful person niece, girlfriend, daughter, etc. in order for MSNBC to have their. Listening to her just a few minutes ago, it sound like she is trying to tone it down, which makes me wonder; why are they SO determined to keep her? There must be a line of qualified reporters out there...why her? I just can't listen to her....

Dear MSNBC... Rita Cosby, as a PERSON, is probably a lovely lady. Unfortunately, we only get to know her as a newscaster with a grating voice. I'm sure she is well aware of it. As a person who had vocal nodes at one time, the raspiness in her speaking voice is a dead give-away that there are serious problems going on in her vocal cords. I SO can't stand listening to the stress in her intake breathing and speaking voice that I simply TURN HER OFF. There are far too many options for news reports. I would recommend that Rita takes enough time off of work to get some speech therapy...and/or whatever medical attention she needs to get this fixed. Ain't no way she'll have ANY speaking voice left in another 5 years...and then it will be too late! A one-star rating? Yes...and it's mostly due to the poor vocal quality, making good communication impossible.

Too many of you got it all wrong when it comes to this lady. Personally I disagree with plenty of her views on things. However, this lady is most certainly a very capable and qualified news woman. Her voice is different but unique and sexy. She's not petite, but she is beautiful. She has a style about her and I hope she maintains her difference. I think she could be less opinionated, but so could most of these news correspondents. Just imagine if we all looked the same, sounded the same, thought the same, worship and loved the same way. What a bore mankind would be! In fact, man's biggest downfall is this belief that we all should be the same. We need to learn to appreciate and enjoy the differences that make us unique and special to the world. We claimed to be fighting a war that people may be able to live their lives in perpetual freedom regardless of their faith, politics, gender, sexual preference, colour, creed, etc. Yet, we each other down for the very differences we... She has the worst voice on tv. She gasps for breath and sounds like an old woman or someone who had throat cancer. Sorry if she did, but she should NOT in any way be on tv. Listen to her terrible gaspy monotone is like hearing a group of turtles crawling over a chalk board. Just really terrible.

I'm glad to know that it's not something unique to my hearing. Her voice really is bizarre. Actually, she sort of sounds like a post-op transsexual who hasn't kept up with her hormone treatments.

In fairness to her, I've never been able to talk myself into watching her show, so I can't really comment on whether it's as bad and superficial as others have said, and she certainly can't help the rasping Frank Costello voice nature "blessed" her with. But I suspect she's not the world's female equivalent of Edward R. Murrow. Keith Olbermann can barely keep a straight face when he ends his program with, "And coming next on MSNBC is Rita Cosby with the latest breaking news from Aruba regarding the Natalee Holloway case..."

She obviously has a serious throat condition which makes for a voice that is difficult to listen to on TV. She interrupted her 3 guests often tonight simply talking about Katharine McPhee (Am. Idol runner up). It's been in several magazines and I believe the newspaper that she has admitted to having Bulemia which has damaged her voice. Can't believe Rita or the 3 guests didn't know that. They kept talking about bronchitis and laryngitis. Not very investigative reporting...maybe that's what Rita has, chronic laryngitis. So annoying I switched channels...again.

OH GOD I somehow managed to miss her before today. The "jamming ice pricks in my ears" thing is so spot-on. WTF were they thinking?? How did this hosehound manage to get a broadcasting job? She sounds like she gargled with razor blades then followed that up with a chaser of Jim Beam. Whyyyyyyyyyyyy?!???!?

hmmm...what is it about rita cosby's voice that makes me want to stick ice picks in my ears? my experience with her show would be akin to trying to navigate a mine field. as much i try to avoid her at all costs, there are times when i'll accidentally "step" on this piece of garbage show. and as i rush to switch the channel, i am entertained for a brief second by the thought that this woman might have a human husband somewhere in this world who must mate with her on a regular basis and what she must sound like as she is in the throes of passion. like envisioning the apocalypse, no man can truly glimpse a sound so horrifying, but i'll venture to guess that it might sound a bit like cows being sent to the slaughter, interlaced with the sound of a man choking on his own vomit, sprinkled with the the mating calls of silver back gorillas.

I thought I was the only one who felt this way. I can't really judge her on her ability because I can't get past her voice. It is hard to believe there isn't someone else to do this job. Her voice is too distracting to listen to the issues she discusses. Can't usually listne more than a few minutes. What happened to her voice anyway?

An obnoxious, abrasive talker who gets on my nerves, so I just change stations. If she would slow down some and take a deep breath, I think that she has some good ideas to convey. a little like that loudmouth Chris something from San Francisco. Some one asks him a question and he gives a lecture. What ever happend to Chas Grodin. Now there was a gentleman and talent. Sort of like Tony Randall. Wish there were more like those two.

I have been covering the Holloway case since day one - and with this case Rita represents what is wrong with cable news shows. On topic after topic, rather than report this case factually, she takes rumor and lies and repetes them over and over in her disgusting voice - thus people (idiots mostly) believe what has been said is the truth. If she comes on one more time and say "breaking news" I know my tv is going to get smashed. What she actually knows about this case you could maybe put on a pinhead and that would be stretching it. She is disgusting, and unappealing and worse stuck on stupid!

Like others, I Googled "Rita Cosby's voice is irritating" and this site came up. Seriously, how does someone with a voice like that get a job in television? Oddly, I live in Charlotte, where she worked as a reporter for the CBS affilliate (WBTV) and don't recall her. Could it be my subconsious trying to save me the pain of remembering her horrific voice?

OMG. I trip over my own thoughts just to get to the remote and get her off. MSNBC really shows poor judgement by giving her the job. Surely there must be someone better and more appealing. I cant stand to listen to her and I can tell u that there is no other news person on TV or Radio that sounds this bad. This woman has the most annoying voice that I've ever heard. Its quiet disgusting and I start to get sick if I listen to her more than few seconds. PLEASE MSNBC, get her of the air and let Bill Clinton give her a job. It wont be sexual.
