I like Weird Al Yankovic. He liked to parody songs. He parodied Michael Jackson's songs 'Beat it' and 'Bad.' Yankovic's parodies of those two songs were 'Eat it' and 'Fat.' On the cover of Jackson's album, he was wearing a leather jacket while leaning on a wall. It said Bad on the cover. Yankovic's album showed him wearing a leather jacket and leaning on a wall just like Jackson. The words Even worse were on the cover. He parodied Madonna's and Queen's songs 'Like a Virgin' and 'Another one bites the dust.' His parodies of those two songs were 'Like a surgeon' and 'Another one rides the bus.' He parodied other songs as well. Those Yankovic parodies were funny. I give him a 4 star rating.

I can't think of a more suitable candidate to install in the asinine farce that is the rock and roll hall of fame than this unfunny and derivative twit. Anyone who thinks this hall of fame is anything but a cynical commercial scam is a damn fool, and anyone who thinks it has anything to do with real talent is a complete idiot.

Most successful comedy artist of his generation. Outlasted many that he has parodied. Artists think they have 'made it' when 'Weird' Al does a parody of one of their songs!

I would rather have "Spinal Tap" in the rock and roll hall of fame before Weird "Al". Seriously, Tap is way funnier and their songs are better and more original. Nothing beats "Big Bottoms", "Sex Farm", "Stonehedge", "Rock and Roll Creation", "Give Me Some Money", "Listen To What The Flower People Say", etc.

Weird Al has been making us laugh for more than 25 years. Over the course of his long and successful career, he has released 11 full-length comedy music albums, been honored with 3 Grammy Awards and 9 Grammy nominations, and received more than 20 gold and platinum album certifications in the U.S., Canada, and Australia. He has appeared in numerous television specials and written and starred in his own full length feature film, "UHF," and that's just the tip of the iceberg!

Al is a GENIUS! He improves on the originals when he parodies. More than half of his songs are written by him and are at least as good as his parodies. He's been entertaining us for decades. Three generations of my family cannot get enough Al. He brings us together and makes us laugh and sing - and laugh some more.

I guess I'm taking this poll too seriously, but I'm applying the same criteria to Weird that I would any other artist. My main criteria is: does the artist's music still get played today on some radio stations. If it does, then that shows the artist has longevity and deserves to be in the R&R; HoF. I don't think I've ever heard a Weird song on the radio - just MTV videos (which were funny). If there were a poll for best videos of all time (and I'm sure there is one on this site) - Weird would get a 5 from me.

How many other musicans are still performing after 20+ years? Like him or not, everyone knows who Weird Al is, while some of the younger generation says "Cyndi who?" "Huey Lewis and the what?" Al is one of the very few musicians, entertainers, or otherwise, who does not AVOID his fans. Do you ever read about Al in the tabloids? There is a good reason why not. Other entertainers would do well to follow Al's example.

Weird Al Yankovic is the only consistently successful musician of our time in the the comedy genre. His Parodies, Polka Medelies (plus Bohemian Polka), and original songs are brilliantly written and show an incredible musical range. His latest album, "Poodle Hat", is among his best, and he constantly continues to top his live act.

Weird Al Yankovic Should Be In The Hall, Because He Wrote Parodys Of Rock & Pop Songs. He Is Greatest Rock And Roll Class Clown. He Should Be In The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.

Like him or not, there's no denying that "Weird Al" Yankovic has done something quite unique. By simply, and usually respectfully, poking fun at rock and roll's biggest artists, he has become as successful and as popular as many of those very same artists. Weird Al has become a fixture in the genre, with artists such as Kurt Cobain and Barenaked Ladies saying that an Al parody is a sign of "making it" in the music business. Al is rock and roll's class clown, and in high school even the class clowns got on the honor roll if they deserved it. Is Al Yankovic on par with John Lennon or Mick Jagger or Brian Wilson? Of course not, but who is? But to negate Al because half of his work is parody is a bit shortsighted. If we were talking about movie westerns, would we ignore the significance of "Blazing Saddles?" Is "Saturday Night Live" any less of a groundbreaking television series because of its satirical nature? Humor, particularly satire, is an essential part of almost every art form, and... Read more

he's fun, and all that, but this has to be a joke right?...no disrespect meant if this is serious, but when did this guy have a hit that wasn't a parady of someone else's song?..It must be a big joke.

Saying Al shouldn't be inducted because a lot of his songs are parodies is like saying that bluesmen should get in but rock bands shouldn't because rock is 'based' on blues...besides, rock music is broken down into many genres, and any artist who's at the very absolute top of his or her genre should be an obvious choice for the hall of fame, and there's no question at all that in the comedy-rock genre, Al Yankovic is the Elvis, the very Beatles of the genre! It's appalling to think he'd be kept out because some idiots don't think comedy is serious business. That's like saying Jim Carrey can't possibly be a good actor because he does mostly comedies! After 25 years on top, I think Al should get his own museum!

Defiently deserving of being put in the hall of fame, Al has been the pop-culture king of parody since 1979, when he recorded My Bologna to play on the Dr. Demento radio show. Since then, Al has put out 11 CD's to his name, and is working on a #12. Some of his more popular parody hits include Amish Paradise, Smells like Nirvana, and his latest hit, Couch Potato. Not only is Al good with parodies, he also writes his own original music. Yep, nearly half of Al's work is original. If anyone on this list is desearving of induction, it is defiently Al!
