My absolute favorite. Whenever I'm out at a restaurant, this is often what ends up on the table. I love it.

Always been fond of Guinness, though I've never tried the bottled variety. Maybe my fondness has to do, then, with the bars that serve it. I was surprised to hear recently that it's also a relatively low-calorie beer. Not that I care, but it's kind of surprising given its reputation as a kind of liquid loaf of bread. Indeed, it's been a meal substitute for me on a few occasions.

Ah, sweet nectar of the gods. When I drink this I see this as proof that life is good. Birds are singing, Children are laughing and the sun is shining down on me. I like to save it for Special occasions to make them even more special.

There are really two beers that can be referred to as "Guinness Stout": Guinness Extra Stout is something usually consumed only on a dare (it tastes like beer mixed with creosote); it usually comes in a bottle, has an ABV of 5%, and looks like used motor oil. This was the first stout I tasted (admittedly I was already drunk, but it was so nasty it put me over the edge, puking-wise). Thankfully, a friend convinced me to try Guinness again, on tap at a local bar. Guinness Pub Draught, thanks in part to super-fine nitrogen bubbles, tastes a lot smoother than the Extra Stout (and looks a lot cooler when fresh-poured), has an ABV of 4.1%, and comes in both bottles and cans, as well as in kegs. If you have a choice, this is the version you want to drink. Although I've had many stouts since, and even a few better ones, I'll never turn down a pint of Guinness Pub Draught (especially when someone else is buying!)

It doesn't taste like your usual beer, but it is very good - beer mixed with coffee.

This beer is the closest thing to perfection. I would climb mountains, risk death, and get divorced to drink this beer. One of my ambitions in life it to travel to Ireland to drink this fresh from the source. I've heard from many people that have experienced this beer there say it doesn't even compare to what we have available in the states. Even if this beer was twice or even three times as expensive, I would still purchase this beer. I understand some people don't like this beer at all but everybody has different tastes. Drink your favorite or keep looking if you haven't found it but my search has ended for the best thing since the invention of the wheel or Al Gore inventing the internet. Enjoy everybody!

2.5 Stars. I have my go-to brew. I won't say it here for fear of breaking the single day disagree record. I'll just say I prefer light beer. Heavy beer, like this one is an acquired taste. My taste buds (that may not know anything about beer) send a signal to my brain telling me this beer is too pungent, too thick, and that I will never acquire a taste for it.

This beer is sweet nectar from the Gods! The beer is pure perfection. From the shape of the pub glass, to the creamy, halting pour, to the roiling, boiling, mass of energy and carbonation churning angrily towards dark clarity, to the perfect head as soft and light as a cloud in heaven, to the rich aromas intoxicatingly sweet and sour alternately, to the dark, deep, creamy, coffee-toned, slightly chocolatey assualt on the taste buds, to the smooth texture and the slide down the throat, to the little moustache left after the first, perfect sip, this beer is THE best beer ever produced by man, and it is the very essence of what it means to be Irish - for me. Drinking Guinness is not merely an activity, it is a ritual, sacred and ancient, harkening back to the Celts of old, in dreary, cold, gray Ireland, or to a dark and dingy working-class bar in South Boston. I love this beer, and I thank god for Mr. Guinness, St. James' Gate, Dublin, and the Irish themselves for inventing such perf... Read more

The finest beer in the world hands down. It doesn't taste anything like any other beer, even other stout beers. Guinness has a wonderful clean flavorful taste that you won't find anywhere else. It has a refreshing, not-bitter, not too sweet, but excellent taste. A magic beer if there ever was one.

Even though i've tried more intense and "deep"-tasting stouts, this still is, and will always be my favorite. The light taste and the small amount of carbon makes this beer so refreshing, which is not ordinary for a stout. I would not call this a stout, i would call it angelwater. Be careful how and where you drink it. If it's wrongly poured it could taste bad

Roasted barley and select hops create a rich, flavorful stout. If you haven't had it in Dublin you are missing out so, I cannot blame fully those who did not enjoy it thier first go. if you cannot drink it draught, I would suggest buying it in cans rather than bottles as I've found it tastes fresher and re-creates the classic "head' it is famous for better.

I know I'm going against the grain here, but bitter isn't better, and bitterness is the dominant flavor in this Stout. The rich malts are there in a big way, but the bitter bite takes the joy out of it even for me, a lover of fine stouts, porters, and old world ales...

I was some what disappointed with the over all flavor and texture of this product... Guinness Drout is a much better choice in my opinion

I initially thought it tasted like a bizarre combination of camels, rust, and 2p coins! Actually, it still does taste of these things - but it tastes as nice as hot chocolate when compared to lager :) It takes a "a few" to get used to it - but you will never look back. P.S. It might make you fat though.

MMMMMMM........Guinness. Smooth taste, strong flavor, it makes me happy. Besides, most people cannot drink stouts, so you don't have to worry about people stealing your beer.

I love Guinness Stout! Despite having a thicker consistency than an ale or a light beer, it is actually lower in calories than some other beers. It has an almost coffee-ish and chocoate-y undertone. It is smooth and should be served after the head has completely formed. I hear in Ireland they actually pour it in such a way that a shamrock appears on the top. As you drink it, the head should leave lines around the perimeter of the glass with each sip (says my friend who studied abroad in Ireland).

Have revisited Guinness  Stout and the Draught version. Both brewed in Canada for the US market are both very good Stouts. Both are on the lighter side of the spectrum compared to many Stouts on the market. I slightly prefer the Draught version.

Best served at room temp (well, if you live in Ireland or northwest US) w/a thick creamy head and in a glass or bottle, not a can. MAJOR difference between what you get in Dublin and what is available in the US. In Ireland it has a hint of heavy sweet/bitterness and flows down your throat like the Shannon River on a warm day. Unfortunately, what we get in the US has lost the gentle sweet thickness and has been replaced with something reminiscent of a pinch of rubbing alcohol. It still has character if you can ignore that 'off-ness'. Actually, you really do have to pay attention to that first swallow to detect it, but if you've never been to Ireland it really doesn't make any difference ... There's a reason the Irish have been drinking it for 250 years!

I don't think you can go wrong with a Guinness. The trend is now to drink it really cold, but you'll get the most out of the flavor if its 'cool' and not 'cold'. http://thebrewclub.com/2009/03/17/beer-review-draught-guinness/

A beer that sticks around, on your tastebuds, in your stomach, in your memory, and on your ass. It is a meal in a glass and a fine lunch. Lots of body, thick and rich, its not your hot summer day thirst quencher, it's your friend.

My go-to brew when everything else on tap sux. It's also good for you: an excellent antioxidant, low in calories (something like 120 per 12 oz.), and lower in alcohol than regular ales (4%). I also heard somewhere that it's healthful for lactating women, but you breastfeeders better confirm with your doctor.

Anyone who knows good beer knows that Guinness is crappy. I'll give it the "tradition" factor, but the truth is there are a ton more breweries in Europe that are older than St. James Gate. If you want a real UK Stout, try Samuel Smith's oatmeal stout. Also to anyone who thinks stouts "drink like a meal" there is only one more calorie per serving in Guinness than Miller Light, so anyone who thinks it's heavy is either a puss, or just has no idea what there talking about.

To be fair, it's the father of all stouts.  It's best drank in Ireland though, it really doesn't travel all the well.  Find a great old pub somewhere in Dublin, and sink a pint of the black stuff and you won't be disappointed.   Remember though, a good pint of Guinness goes down really well, and you won't be able to have only one!

Extra Stout cold from a bottle at home, or Draught hand-pulled  from a tap in a bar. I never get tired of the taste. I've drunk the extra-stout  warm, and it's still pretty good. There's not too many beers you can say that about. If I has to pick only one beer to drink, this would be it.

I like Guinness, but it's just a little too thick for my liking on a regular basis. I do like a good stout on occasion, but when I do I prefer a smaller micro brew, and I want it from the tap, not a can or bottle.

This is what beer should be.  I mean, its virtually unchanged since the mid-late 1700s.  Dark, full of flavour, good with food (or a supliment for food).  A true mans beer, not for sissies that cant handle a beer with alot of taste.
